Its been my experience probably 1/2 the taxis don't know exactly where you want to go (even Termas 4x4), but if you say something like "Centro" and "Rua Buenos Aires" they know that. Then they will ask another taxi where they need to go when in the general area.

If you get in there before the sausage fest, you should be able to find something pretty good.
Even if it is packed, you can have a favorita paged and then wait for her out in the reception area.
I don't know how a guy could call 4x4 a "bad evening". The music is pretty good, they can have full-nudity strippers, and ass-grabbing/french-kissing in the boite is easily tolerated. Throw in some food and alcohol and that certainly beats most evenings in the US (for me at least).

I don't see the big deal about the reception clerks asking for a trip. It is not that hard to just say "Nao" without fussing about it. I never had them tell me to go fuck myself or inflate my bills for denying their request. I know when checking out I've seen a few times there were guys preceeding me having bills exceeding 1000R (so they probably figure what is another 10-20R).

4x4 is probably the best deal in Rio, R$170 for 1 hour and easily 1/2 dozen to select from. I was a happy camper.

Loubi, did you try the upstairs boite at 4X4? If you find a girl you like, take her upstairs to the VIP lounge. It's quiet and less smoky, and you can sit at a booth and be waited on for drinks and food.
