The police did not raid here tonight although I stayed around until 12:30. Still I had a good time, there has been a lot of turnaround with fresh talent. I ended up sessioning with two garotas that I'd met before. Juliana has returned, I don't know when I last saw her but I was in there only a short time before she approached and I recognised her immediately. Didn't try Terma Cancun; 4x4 was too much of a sure thing for me.

Did I missed some changes with the charges when paying the bill or is this something new that L'uomo has just implemented. I noticed there was a "bar commission" on the bill and it looks like it was a percentage of the total bill. And also did anyone noticed that the receptionists are short changing you while paying the bill also.

My bill was 287 reais and I gave them 300 reais. I was given back 10 reais and not the 13 reais. This happened twice with me and twice with my two buddies. I asked them why we were short changed but did not get an answer. We thought it was not a big deal of only a couple of reais, however, we are considering not returning to this termas.

They always tack on 50 centavos extra to my bill and then roundup a real on me.

The bar commision should be around 10% of your total drinks, which goes to the bartenders. They've been doing it for quite some time.

OK, I can see if the they round up from 50 centavos and keep the other 50 centavos but keeping 2 or more reais? If this is done to everybody who goes to L'uomo per day, it's gonna turn out to be a pretty good size tip for the front desk people.

I assumed then that L'uomo is the only Termas that add the bar commission to the bill or are there other termas that are doing this also? I usually get my own drinks so why should I give them commission for getting my own drinks.

I wouldn't mind that much if the receptionist had asked to keep the remaining small change but to do it in hope that you didn't see that she is doing it is like stealing. At least this way I would have the option to say Yes or No, and I would be more incline to let them keep the change. At least the 4X4 the receptionist do ask if they can have a tip or keep the change as a tip. They didn't take it without asking you first.

BTW, I've been going to Rio for over 5 years now and the 2 current receptionists at L'uomo are new to me as I have never seen them before until this trip.

Last time at Luomo, I was short 2 reais, lady did not care so it might go both ways.

That's why we should have reviews of the girls of the type that Appleman and Bwana started writing. If the reviews are honest and fair, no one can complain and we'll all be better informed. The good girls will get business and the bad ones will sit in the corner drinking water.

So Sweet should write a review. We can start a "Garota Reviews" section under each of the termas and then have pages for each of the garotas. Sweet can start with this "TD-" or "Test Drive negativo."

That's why Don and I always let our clients and friends know which girls are honest and which girls are not. We can't be there all the time, but it helps.

So if one is skipping L where to go on a weekend. Last time I was at Solarium there was not one girl I would do and I left w/o sessioning, which I almost never do. The line up at L was pretty weak yesterday anyway so I am kind of lost for ideas.

You are one guy out of probably 100 that I personally know that hasn't had a girl at least try for a covered BJ at Monte Carlo.

I've had more attempts at CBJs at MC than at all other termas combined. In fact, you could add up all those other attempts, square them, and they still wouldn't add up to the number at Mostly Covered.

I don't like MC just because of all the girls that do CBJ, and I've also seen a lot of garotas on their final round of the tourist termas before they move to the downtown 2nd class termas.

as reported above i have had no love lost for my origionally favorite terma L. however since my wingman , corto lingo insists on going there. i put on my objective goggles [as opposed to wine stained ones] and report. in 2 visits the talent was weak and weaker. last night was suppose to be a special aniversary and was dead. for the prices, go to centarus, at least you expect to be ripped off. 4x4 is hot. corto likes solarium and i MC. we still hit 65 but hit and miss lately.

WARNING! Take this for what it's worth. Yesterday 3 of my buddies went to L and got rip-off. One of my buddies said he had a camera and US$250.00 missing from his locker after he went to leave and change his clothes. He talked to receptionist and the manager there who talked to the locker room attendant lady and she said she didn't do it and didn't see anything. My 2 other buddies did confirmed that they locked all their lockers before going inside the bar. At this point the management is not going to do anything.

Also, the other 2 friends had a different problem....they got their bills padded with several drinks they didn't order. They also argued with the bar tender who said they did order those extra drinks. My friends didn't want any trouble so they went ahead and paid the bill.

Needless to say, L'uomo is off our list for any future visits. You guys be careful if you go.

Thank for the info fellow monger. I have also had fears of things like this when I thought about going to a terma. It took four trips to Rio until I went to my first terma (4x4). But apparently this will be my only terma I'll go to until I'm feeling a little more secure about going to another terma.

Cold20, I don't know your experiences at the termas but you generally don't have to worry about any problems.Even if you get overcharged (usually drinks) 9 out of 10 times once you bring it to their attention they will change it.Usually you gotta watch the garotas if you let them take your key.Just make sure you keep track of everything you order with that key.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Dino,based on those attitudes I would ban Luomos too if that happened to me.Like you said you just gotta be careful at all times.

I've never heard of anyone having anything stolen from a termas locker. In fact, I've had stuff returned to me months after I left something behind on a previous trip.

That said, my one visit to L last month, I did not recognize the woman working the locker room. Neither of the two regulars were working, so I'm not really sure. I would doubt that a locker-room attendent would steal from the customers, though.

I've never had this problem of getting ripped off at a terma although I must admit the procedure whereby the garota leaves with your key to get ready for the session (which I assume is normal procedure) has made me nervous a couple of times. If there is an alternative procedure that is acceptable and won't cause a commotion (such as showing her your key and writing the number on a piece of paper) maybe someone could let us know.

So what happens if they rip off all your cash and credit cards. How does one pay the bill? I can't think that would be a pleasant situation.

For what it's worth my gut reaction is that Dino's "3 amigos'" experiences were not the fault of the termas.

I agree with Maverick, I think this incident at L is a rare situation.
I don't particularly care for this termas, but getting ripped off sounds more the fault of a careless hombre than being taken advantage of.

It is routine to get charged for drinks you did not order (at any termas), but they always take it off before you pay the bill.
For example, I never-ever drink Red-Bull and yet the it is no coincidence the most expensive drink always shows up on my bill.
If a garota wants a juice, a beer or a water I never refuse those. But I am not paying 13 reais for a red bull ever.

As for the locker situation, I myself have been careless not locking the locker properly. Twice at 4x4, the lady attendant took
my stuff and placed it safely in her possession. I was very grateful because there was my passport, wallet, camera and quite a bit of cash
having just landed 2 hours before. Nothing was missing at all. Needless to say, this lady always gets a nice tip from me on future
visits.

I also doubt a garota would take a key and open a locker. That is a sure-fire way to lose a great job and not worth it.

As for Luomo in general, it is an alright place. The 60R entrance really sucks. Based on the past few times
I have there the past year, there is no girl there that you could not find equally as good as you could at 4x4.
I guess if it is Saturday that is not an option, so most guys hit L then eventually make there way back over
to Atlantica. I also think it is tough leaving L and not spending at least 300R, so for that money there is probably
better talent over at Centaurus.

Interested to hear what you base the statement that overcharging is routine in the termas. I have nothing compared to the wealth of experience on this board (with guys who live in Rio and go to termas every day), but I find it hard to believe. I guess I've been to all the ususal termas a total of 45, maybe 50 times over the past 4 years, and neither I nor any of my companions has ever had the slightest discrepency in a bill. A couple of times I disputed it, and then through discussion realized that I had forgotten one or two of the charges. I've also seen the locker room ladies go out of their way to point out security issues- sometimes guys forget to actually lock the locker and the lady tells him to lock it.

Just finding it hard to beleive that tabs get padded all the time like they do in the TJ clip joints. Maybe I'm wrong.

I've had my bill padded a few times. Mostly at 4X4 and always they dropped it off the bill once I brought it to their attention. A couple of times at L too. I only assume that it was that they read my number wrong (it is kind of dark in there) or their handwriting sucked and the person that put it into the computer read it wrong.

Just to add one more data point to the discussion: While not a regular I have certainly had my share of visits to pretty much all the higher-end Rio termas (with the exception of Centauraus). I can't remember an instance of a bill being padded at any of them. However, at termas I drink very little (usually just water with a very occassional Scotch) so there would be less opportunity for them to think they could get one past me.

Sorry Maverick I disagree with you entirely. I'm an experience rio monger and my friends are experience world monger. Who's fault is it if the locker was locked and a camera and money came up missing? The money and camera just disappeared mysteriously without someone taken it? Where was the locker attendant?

I have been traveling to Rio for over 5 years and at least 6 trips per year. I also have never heard of anyone had their stuff stolen from the lockers. But if I think that it will never ever happened than I am gullible. When one deals with human nature and money how can one be sure 100% that it will never happened.

Also during these many trips to the Termas I have had my bills that contained 1 or 2 alcohol beverages added ( 3 times at L'uomo and 2 times at MC) Those CH guys that know me know that I don't drink alcohol beverages. So it was easy for me to ask them to fix the mistakes by removing the alcoholic beverages. Bartenders are people and they can make mistakes just like everyone else.

As I commented on earlier posts that I was displeased with L'uomo's practice of adding the service fees on the bill for bartenders and the front desk person short changed me 3 times. These things were not happening during the first few years that I have been going to Rio. The short changed happened a few months ago and there were new staff working at the front desk. Right now, I don't know any of the bartenders, the locker room attendant and the front desk staff. I have never had any complains or problems with the old staff.

I've had mistakes on my bill at all termas where things were added -- and then subtracted when pointed out. I've pointed out mistakes, and then upon further review, the bill was found to be correct. I've also had mistakes on my bill that favored me -- free drinks and food. I've also had two free cabines because of billing mistakes -- both at Aeroporto with their antiquated system. You've got to watch yourself. I'm sure there is a lot of padding going around, including in restaurants. But there are a lot of honest errors in their billing systems.

First of all, the girls are NOT allowed in the lockers at Luomo. I have NEVER seen a girl in there, and as most of you know, I'm in there ALL THE TIME. There is NO WAY a girl went back there and took something from a locker. This is the first time I've heard of anyone missing anything from their locker and I too have to think that somehow the locker simply did not get locked.

As for "bill padding," it is usually the result of a genuine error, or a girl getting big eyes. At least at 4x4 and Luomo. When you tell a girl you'll buy her a drink, and she goes to the bar with your key, she may just go ahead and order one for her friend as well, figuring you'll never notice. Or at Luomo, often all the girl has to do is show your key the first time, order a drink, then tell the guy that number later when she wants another drink. Not all the girls do that, but a few do because they often get away with it. If management catches them, in other words, if you dispute the charge, the girl has to pay for the drink herself. Always check your bill.

All you have to do to solve it is to make sure you always get up and go to the bar to get the drinks yourself. Or in 4x4, don't let the girl walk to the bar, get the waitress to do it.

Also, in 4x4, twice I have had a session on my bill that I did not do. Just an honest mistake with the system. Everytime I call them on it, they always remove the charge. Of course they trust me, but they are always honest about it.

And, yes, Sylvia in 4x4, the locker room attendant, is a sweetheart and will watch out for you. I always give her a couple of reals on the way out.
