´'m back in Ecuador for the 3rd time in less than 2 years. This time, ´'m spending more time in Quito. The 9,000 feet altitude has slowed me down. Hopefully, ´'ll get use to it soon.
Yesterday, I walked over to Cheers on Av. America N25-54 y Colon. It's a short walk for me from La Mariscal. There's no sign outside so you have to look for the N25-54 over the doorway. Cheers is on on the third floor. As you walk up the first flight of stairs, you can hear the loud music from Cheers.
At the top of the stairs at the entrance to Cheers, there will be a doorman. You give him a dollar and he hands you a beer (or water or soda) and pulls the curtain for you to enter. There are a couple of stripper poles in the middle of the main floor, but ´'ve never seen any of the girls use them. Surrounding the poles are couches. There's also a smaller room adjacent to the main floor. I arrived at around 2:30 PM. There were about 12-15 girls. Most of the girls were seated on the couches. A few were standing. There were about 8 other guys seated on the couches drinking beers or bottled water. The girls give you the "look" when you first come in, but they don't usually approach you. Surprising to me, most of the guys looked bored or were talking with their buddies. Many of the guys were wearing business suits.
I decided to sit around and allow my eyes adjust to the darkness. Unfortunately, it never did. I had a hard time seeing the girls faces or the shape of their bodies if they were seated. I waited until they stood up and/or walked to the bathroom. If they did, I'd usually walk over to use the bathroom and to get a better look at their faces in the brighter light. The brighter light wasn't a friend to many of the girls.
I was surprise that only a few of the guys took any of the girls. I thought they must know something that I don't so I waited with them. I thought they must know of a special girl there. So I waited and waited. A few of the guys walked out without selecting a girl. Toward 4:00 PM, an announcement came over the PA system and many of the girls left the room. As soon as the girls left, more guys arrived. Soon there were 15 guys and 3 girls (I guess the lesson learned here is that timing is everything.) After about 30 minutes or so, most of the girls returned.
Anyway, I was getting tired of waiting plus the loud music from the piss-poor loudspeakers was killing my ears. As soon as most of the girls returned, I picked one. I gave her $10 which she took to pay the house (she'll also ask for .25 for the condom) and then she escorted me to a room upstairs since the downstairs one were all being used. It was a classic slam blam thank you ma'am session. Before I could get my pants back up, she was already dressed and out the door. What surprised me is that she didn't ask for a tip.
The sheets aren't changed between customers and the wastebasket is full of used condoms. If that's a turnoff, this isn't the place for you. I guess for $10, you really can't expect or complain too much.
On a another subject, there sure are a lot more streetwalkers around La Mariscal than from my previous trips. Most of them are between the boundaries of Av. Amazonas, Reina Victoria, Jorge Washington, and Wilson. As with streewalkers, the quality can vary, but there were some very good looking ones out there over the weekend. They get picked up quickly because I walked by a very good looking one. As I walked back around the block to ask her how much, she was gone. The streetwalkes are working in an area in which there are banners protesting prostitution in the area. I guess the protest signs haven't been a deterrent against the oldest profession.
That's it for now. ´'m writing this freestyle, i.e., no spell check, at an Internet cafe on a Spanish keyboard which drives me crazy so forgive me for any typos or poor sentence structure. Time is money at an Internet cafe.

To get here from the Trolebus station you'll have to walk uphill on Colon from the Colon stop and turn right on Avenida America. It will be closer to the next street of Mosquera Narvaez (Dolce Vita will be down the hill on the right, but not sure if that's a good place to walk around)
Cover a few months ago was $2.50. All 9 ladies present were fat and unattractive. No one else popped out before I finished my beer so I left after that.
