I have over 50 visits under my belt. I always look over the bill. Frankly I am a suspicious person by nature, especially in Brazil. Not one time has a bill been padded. Not once. Actually a few times a girl's drink was not added.

I have left my locker open at Luomo, only to have the lady come ask me to secure it.

I have noticed at some of these places they are rounding things up, no big deal. I just carry smaller bills now, so I can decide who to tip.

I think for the most part these places need to do things above aboard or this conduct could really come back to bite them in the ass.

Lockers being broken into and bills being padded could be the death of some of these establishments if it hit the Gpguia boards. Not saying it did not happen, just saying that if it did, I am sure it was an isolated incident.

Other than getting a buzz, I don't think that the girl benefits or gets a piece of the action on the drinks like they do in a states-side stripclub or like they do in the PI or Thailand. So inherently the padding is most likely a mistake.

Defender - I'm amazed that you have never had an icorrect bill. Not doubting you but amazed that it hasn't happened in over 50 trips.

I know a few americans that live there and they always check their bill because in their words they always make mistakes and I would say that these guys probably make 100-150 trips a year each to the termas.

Hell, Gibletpie goes to the termas at least 5 days a week. Tough job but someone has to do it. I'm sure he's seen tons of errors.

I really did not think much of it until now. I guess I have been lucky. I am always looking for these joints to rip me off for some reason, never has happened. I will say this as well. My bills are usually very simple. Two or Three drinks max, which are mostly always water and a juice for one of the ladies.

Not to say I have not had some bad luck. I have been mugged twice and my checking account debit card number was stolen and a charge of 1800R was on their from a Mercedes car dealership in Barra, which was given back to me a 30 days later by my bank.

The point of this thread should not be whether you believe this occurred or not.Just because someone never experienced or heard of something doesn't mean it did not occur.The point is to be careful with your belongings, no matter how well we think we know somebody or place you never know whats going on behind the scenes.

Ee2002, I must respectfully disagree with you in part.

I am of the opinion that as long as our responses are respectful the “point of this thread” can take on any theme that we as paying members decide it should take. The day a member or members begin to tell me what my point should or should not be will be the day that I find this membership not so enjoyable and will stop making any contributions to this board.

Sometimes these threads will deviate from the original point of a thread, which I think is only natural. With that said, I am sure because of this we in return benefit from other information that we normally would not have learned.

UPDATE!

This afternoon I received a call from a guy I know who went to L and he said that the management at L told him to tell me that they have located the missing camera. So my 3 friends and I went to L to get the camera. It was indeed his camera. Ofcourse, the US$250 was still missing, but we thank them for recovering the camera and returning it. At this point I'm not going to speculate about how this whole event came about but just want to say thanks to anyone who MAY have quietly talked to the management about what had happened.

I also wanted to publicly thank the management at L for their quick response in finding and returning the camera.

i have been to L and other t's where a key would open more than one locker. i worry about termas without robes and help girls.

My number of termas visits is approaching infinity. I've never had a problem with anything being removed from my locker. I have had 2-3 instances where a mystery drink appeared on my tab, and in those cases management removed them without question. Being a regular probably helps alot in this regard.

I have seen lots of guys 1) drop money and things out of their pockets while changing, 2) leave cell phones and cameras sitting on a bench, and 3) walk out of the changing room w/o locking their locker. I've seen guys walk into a termas three sheets to the wind and leave shit all over the place. I've seen guys lose track of how much they drank and how many drinks they bought for the girls. And I've even seen a guy give his key to a garota and then fall asleep!

So, yes, you have to be careful, but the main thing to worry about is not doing something stupid yourself.

A couple of years ago, I went to Luomo, got my key and proceeded to the locker room. When I opened the locker, I was surprised to see someone else clothes already in there. Bewildered, I checked my key and noticed that I had gone to the wrong locker, but the key worked anyway.

I quickly pointed this out to the attendant and the girl at reception. They said that there were going to fix the lock, and presumably they did. But shit happens. If I was a different type of person, I could have stored this info away for later use, waited until the locker room was empty and . . . .
