The first hotel I found was clean and inexpensive ($300 pesos + tax). Right away I noticed that Mazatlan was more humid than Tucson so I was glad my room had a good air conditioner.

Vista Dorada

I found out later from a tourist I ran into on the beach that the hotels further North in the tourist area called Zona Dorado are well over $1000 pesos/night, even if they are far from the beach.
