I'm about two days into this trip, and I've lucked out with the weather. It'd been quite cold and cloudy, but yesterday was mostly sunny and today the skies are clear, so I'm off to the beach with some local friends.

Speaking of reals, I've gotten 2.26 at Ben Bros cambio. I walked in and there was a guy in front of me, Argentinean, I believe, who asked the rate and was quoted 2.22. Final full day in Rio , I dread the end of a good trip.

Well, what a nice day. And the dollar ended at 2.32 today.

Well, I do go for the fucking, and I've yet to find a place where such a high percentage of girls are both gorgeous and outrageously good at their job. I've said it many times before, ad nauseam, and won't dwell on it anymore than to say brasileiras are world-class, gold medal fucks.

But there are other things that separate Rio from every other destination for me. I love the beach. No other mongering destination has beaches that can remotely compare to Rio's. Pattaya's beaches are so polluted I won't go in the water, and they are always filthy. Phuket is a bit better but still not even comparable to the average beach in So. Cal., let alone Rio. The DR's beaches are dumps as well. Costa Rica has some great beaches, but hours away from the mongering (and the mongering in CR is piss poor). Rio's beaches trump them all.

The food in Rio is absolutely fantastic. I started today with a bowl of açai and granola, had fresh fish for lunch, and picanha for dinner. I haven't had a mediocre meal on this trip. Thailand is equal in my mind to Rio when it comes to food, but no other mongering destination is close to those two.

And then there's the music. Music is everywhere in Rio, and it's amazing music. I almost always catch a live show in Lapa of some major Brazilian performer. And most nights I stop in at a local barzinho named Bip Bip and watch a group of great samba instrumentalists play while the folks sitting in the bar sing the words. Brazil is a major player in music. Thailand? The Philippines? Costa Rica? Indonesia? Mostly unlistenable stuff. Colombia produces some OK music, but in small quantities, and the live music scene in MDE is nothing at all like Rio's.

So sure, I spend more money in Rio than I do in Bangkok, but I enjoy every single aspect of my stays in Rio, while in most other locales there's the girls and not much else.

This year I've been making one last round of all the major mongering locations. I'm retiring next year and will ratchet down my mongering schedule. But the one place I will continue to return to is Brazil and Rio de Janeiro. Rio: It's More Than Pussy, But It's Great Pussy Too.

Awesome report Bwana! Your explanation of why you prefer Rio is first class! I've always enjoyed the sights and sounds of where I've traveled to as much as, sometimes more than the girls.

Taking the women out of the equation, Brasil is the most interesting place in the world in terms of opportunities - sights, music, human diversity, ecosystems . . . just everything. When I am there I am happy and when I am not my happiness diminishes. I can't say the same for other places as I miss them when I am gone but the place I replaced them with fills the void. CR is no bargain either. Of course Manuel Antonio can match anything Rio has, the old MA that is. Now it's overrun with nature tourists and ON THE MAP. And three hours from action (aside from rip-off Jaco). Medellin is landlocked.

Rio is a world class city. The fact that it's 30%+ more expensive than these others doesn't matter--to those that can afford it. Like the old man used to say, New York's the best city in the world--IF you have money.

I have no guess as to what will happen after the megaevents in Brazil. The housing market in Rio is totally overheated and is bound to crash, but I don't know how that will play out with the rest of the economy. But sure as hell won't be in Brazil during those events. The gouging by hotels and apartments for FIFA 2014 has begun in earnest. I'm guess the termas will be packed and unpleasant. No thanks. Still, you really should give the place a try if you like any of those other things (food, music, beaches) I mentioned.

Since you mention it, post mega-events will not be a pretty I fear.

I will stay away from the Southeast, in general, and Rio, in specific, during the events. The real estate market is very inflated across most of Brasil as the middle class has already expanded during economic boom over the last decade, but that has faltered. The GDP growth rate has dramatically slowed. Today, it mimics that of the USA. The middle class demonstrated their discontent with the broken promises (healthcare, education and government corruption) and the extravagant spending around mega-events. The organized crime families have been threatening taking on the government in open of the streets.

I say all of this with a heavy heart for I see this with my own eyes and hear my Brasileiro friends talking of it in private. But if the crash comes and the devaluation of the US$/R$ continues good things could happen to those that wait.

Thanks again for the report . . . your last photo looking toward Barra from Ipanema really made me realize how much I love Brasil and miss my country of preference. Well, maybe there is hope for CFK to pay that apartment for his preferred garota is coming . . . maybe he is thinking he needs exchange rate and a real estate crash to get him back to Brasil.

I've experience with both, and in terms of plain passion and fucking skills. the cubanas are right in there with the brasileiras. But there are two differences. On average, I find the Brazilian girls a bit hotter looking. The big difference is that p4p is illegal in Cuba and the girls are often very nervous about getting busted. It sometimes puts an unpleasant edge on things. That's the main reason I stopped going to Cuba. I didn't like having to dodge police and play games to get a girl back to the casa.

I agree with BD re Rio being top class but my take on Cuba is slightly different. For me the average woman is hotter in Havana than Rio as obesity kicks in in the latter (though obviously not with the girls in BD's pics ). I prefer the darker hispanic looks there and the fact that even regular girls dress like hookers. However for P4P Rio wins hands down. In Cuba it's always seems to be about the money (even in non-P4P situations) whereas in Rio a little chemistry goes a long way e.g. last year in 4X4 I was making out and having a good laugh with a garota for a couple of hours. I said let's go up and she said no I want to come back to your apt. and fuck you all night. All she wanted in the morning was R$50 for the cab. Good point about the budding obesity problem in Rio. I haven't had any problem finding my fill of spinners, and there will always be tons of brasilieras who are health/fitness freaks, but the invasion of American fast food chains is taking its toll, and you notice it on the beach where you see more belly fat than was the case 10 years ago.

The problem in Cuba for me, that's kept me away, was the growing paranoia about police crackdowns. In Rio, if you find a puta you like, you just grab her, hop in a taxi, head back to your hotel or apartment, and fuck like maniacs. It's all legal. In Cuba it's illegal, and the cops routinely roust putas they see with gringos, so you have to often engage in a bit of a dance (leave the club at separate times, take separate taxis, etc.). And last time in Cuba almost every girl wanted to be paid up front and put up a fuss when I insisted on afterwards, even when I mentioned the possibility of a tip for good service. But those Cuban putas are hotties for sure. I just prefer the variety of sizes, shapes and colors I find in Brazil.

BD, definitely noticeable on the beaches. My friends who live in Rio are moaning about it too. Their take is that it's viewed as a sign of "wealth" in today's Brasil.

There was an interesting article in Veja a few years ago which cited a study by the Ministry of Health on the problem. Of all the state capitals Rio had the worst obesity problem, SP was about average and the 4 best were Goiania, BH, DF and Palmas. Maybe that's where we need to go for spinners.

As for Cuba I think the girls with mobile phones to take your address helps with the hide and seek element. Anyway now that Salon Rojo's reopened I hope to head back in the next month or to provide a more recent update.

Are you talking about a 2-3 day stay? To be honest, I would probably not go to the expense of a trip to Rio for that short a stay. With a few exceptions such as Mitchc, most guys make the trip for a week or more. If you're coming from somewhere close to TJ, your airfare will likely be $1200 or more. I had a low fare ($1000) for my last trip. The next ticket cost me $1300. My all-in cost for 8 nights/9 days was roughly $3400. Costs for the girls vary. I paid as little as $50/hour in the Centro apartment brothels and about $110/hr for some freelancers.

Best bang for the buck is so subjective it's hard to answer. Opinions will vary.

A 3 night stay would be (all estimates) $1300 airfare, $300-$400 for an apartment, $750 for pussy (assuming two girls/day for a short stay), $250 for taxis, food, drink.

Yea due to other traveling I need to do in the states next year Sin in the City and MsC - I wont be available to do long term stays for our adventures.

I hope to eventually be one of the vets posting here, so I appreciate the suggestion of not wasting the short stay on a place like Rio.

My reviews will be in Mexico then for 2014, 2015 I will plan a Rio trip.

Maybe because I am chinese but AC, BKK & Pattaya never really blew my socks off. I can appreciate the lower budget but I didn't get the off the charts passion that I enjoy with the latinas or brazilians. Didn't enjoy the 24 hours flight itinerary that I could afford either.
