Day 2

Today I was moving from the Arpoador Inn to the Princess Copacabana. I had gone to bed a little early the previous night to catch back up on some much needed rest so I was up fairly early this morning. It was raining, which really kind of bummed me out. I exchanged some money and then started packing up for my transfer to the Princess Copacabana.

When I checked out the receptionist asked where I going so they could get a taxi for me. I told them Princess Copacabana and they kind of looked at me funny. They said they had rooms available if I wanted to stay longer. I explained that there was nothing wrong with their hotel, just that I wanted to check out a different hotel.

On a separate note, the freaking keys for the Arpoador Inn are huge. I remember them being attached to either a big piece of wood or a heavy piece of metal. I didn’t want to carry that big thing around so I always left it at reception and picked it up when coming back to the hotel.

So I was all packed up and checked out and now it was time to head over to the Princess Copacabana. I walked in and said hi to the cute receptionist (in Portuguese) and she handed me a check in slip and started rattling off Portuguese information to me. Uh-oh. So I tried to struggle along attempting to communicate in Portuguese with her thinking that perhaps she just did not speak English. Luckily the bell boy stepped in and told her to speak English with me and then we were on our way. She (was very cute, by the way) apologized for speaking to me in Portuguese, but thought I spoke Portuguese because that was how I greeted her. No problem, sweetie!

I really liked this area because it seemed like everything I needed was so close. Help was just down the street and around the corner, drug stores were close by, and restaurants were very close as well. I did a little exploring before I headed over to Rio Sul to check it out and kill some time. I also had lunch there.



Then it was time to head over to Monte Carlo. So I grabbed a taxi and handed him my index card with the address on it. Off we went.

This place got me disoriented a little. The lockers and changing area is downstairs. Then you have the showers and television room on the second floor. And then on the third floor you have the Boate. Two people cannot pass side by side on the stairs at the same time because they are so damn narrow. I am just glad I didn’t kill myself on trying to walk up them.

It didn’t take too long for me to find someone there. I found a really cute dark-skinned girl with curly hair named Laura (La-oh-ra). She was 21. And even though the manager is not “supposed” to see a girl leave with you, everyone knows and rarely cares. But sometimes if the girl is really paranoid you have to wait across the street or down a block or so. LOL!) The guy was a Spaniard who was working in New York City. He was in Rio with his brother. We got to chatting a bit and he said he was loving Rio compared to paying for sex in New York. He said the attitude of most of the prostitutes in New York sucked. So my thinking was that the love motels in Brazil were going to be similar to the love motels in Argentina. In Argentina, they are between $20 and $60 pesos for like two hours. I wasn’t expecting to see R$ 120 up there. Then they wanted to ding me for R$ 180 and I said no way and started to walk. Then they said ok to R$ 120. It was still too much, but I decided I was ok with it since I didn’t quite feel comfortable bringing her back to the Princess Copacabana. The other thing about the room is that I think it was rented for a longer period of time. I might be thinking of VIP’s, but I know the rooms at the Copamar were longer than 2 hour rooms. They may have been eight hour rooms or an overnight room. It was something like that. It was not just a short time room. The room was pretty small and basic. Probably had the equivalent to a double or queen size bed and then a small attached bathroom.



Well, the session with Patricia just sucked. It was nothing like the termas girls. She refused to do the BBBJ, she only did the covered BJ which really bummed me out. The Copacabana hotel is a serious upgrade to your other hotel. How much was it? It seems as though the Termas are very reasonable. 140 riel (50 bucks) for a 40 minute session with GFE is quite a bargain actually. I am surprised that you forked out an extra 140 riel just to get an extra room when you already had one. Concerned about your laptop? I also notice that your report is really good so far but you took pics of everything but the girls.....at least so far.

I loved the Princess Copacabana. As you know from my Thailand reports I like the one bedroom, one living room suites like Omni, Grand President and the Residence Garden. The price I got for the one bedroom suite at the Princess was R$ 224 per night. Add another R$ 60 for a guest, each guest. But the cool thing you can do there is just change your billing to double occupancy (for R$ 60 more and then you can bring multiple girls during one day, but still just one at a time.) I don't understand their logic behind that, but oh well.

I do have a phobia of bringing girls back to the hotel that I need to get over in South America. Especially after reading about that guy who got drugged at his hotel and then cleaned out. In Thailand it doesn't worry me as much because street crime and theft is so rare there, at least according to the State Department.

But even in Argentina I never brought a girl back to my hotel, I always used short time hotels even for club girls there.

I did purchase a lock with a combination for my laptop this time around though. The thing that still gets me is that all the safes in Rio are accessed by keys, not by combination. I did finally get over my phobia of bringing girls back to the hotel and I bring one back in the next chapter. However, for the entire trip I think I only bring two more girls back.

I was really surprised at the price of that short time motel. I didn't research all the short time motels options thoroughly, but I wonder if they are all that expensive or if there are cheaper alternatives that I just didn't know about.

140 reais is not that bad, but then remember that you also have to pay an entrance fee of R$ 50. That brings the price up to about $63 US. Later on during the trip I decided to try and leverage my entrance fee when I could by doing multiple sessions in one termas. That is what I did my first day at 4x4 by doing two sessions. And since I took a girl before 5pm, the entrance fee was waived so I made out really good there.

I also almost always tried to get the suites instead of the cabines. Sometimes termas only had one suite though (like Monte Carlo and Solarium) and sometimes it was not available, so I had to bust one out in 40 minutes instead of 60.

Oh, another thing I forgot to mention. When I first went to Monte Carlo the taxi driver parked and got out and walked in with me. My first thought was that this was something like Thailand where my entrance fee would increase to pay the taxi driver commission. Inside Flavio explained to me that he pays the taxi driver out of my R$ 50 entrance fee and that my price does not increase at all because a taxi brought me there.

Xen: Nice report. Are you following me around or is it the other way around?. The two places I have stayed in during multiple trips to Bangkok are the Omni and the Grand President, and the one place in Pattaya is Residence Garden.

As to Rio, the safes in the hotels can be a pain in the ass. I therefore travel with hardshell carryon luggage (with a combo lock) as well as my regular luggage. I then use a bicycle chain to secure the hardshell luggage to something in the closet that is not going anywhere. Not only is this probably more secure than the safes with keys, it also means I don't have to pay the hotel I stay in to use the safe (which at least at that hotel runs something like U.S. $1.50 per day).

I recommended the Casio cam to Xen after seeing Bigballs in the PI. He originally wanted to borrow my Sony Cybershot, but he knew I had occasional problems with the shots being out of focus. I told him about the Casio model and mentioned that it had great color balance, great flash exposure, and the dimensions made it even easier to fit into a pocket than my tiny Cybershot.

Xenono, How was the Arpoador Inn? How much did it cost and did they allow you to bring guests back to your room (and how much of a guest fee did they charge)? I am making my 1st trip to Rio and I am thinking of staying here. Thanks

Omni and Residence Garden were recommended by Blazers in a report and I stayed at all three during my second trip to Thailand in September 2002. Good idea about the hard covered luggage and bicycle chain. Will take that into consideration for a subsequent trip.

Msorayas: I cover the Arpoador Inn in Day 1. It is pretty small and basic. R$ 129 per night, guest friendly and no guest fee. I didn’t bring a guest back though so the info about no guest fee and guest friendly is from Bwana_Dik, a pretty well respected Rio guy who has published a Rio guide on this site.

For R$ 160 you get an amazing fantastic room at http://www.vipsmotel.com.br/. Great ocean view, 2 Saunas, small swimming pool, Varanda to fuck the girl outside, blow job stair, 2 floors,

And Vips is the best and most expensive love motel.

You got screwed on the ST motel. Sinless, in Leblon, has rooms running from 49 reais-129 reais for 6-8 hours. Vips has basic (but very nice) apartments for 61 reais and suites from 170 (for the Vips Suite with small pool, ocean view and deck, sauna, steambath, sex chair, big-screen TV, etc.) to 420 reais (Millennium Suite...it has it ALL, with full-sized pool, etc.)

copamar is not a "fuck-hotel" they cartering towards regular guests. a good option close to help is variety nossa senhora de copacabana i think it is 70 reais for 4 hours.iggy sca
