" THE GOOD "

Having waiting anxiously for my 4th trip to Pattaya to get it started, a big smile settled on my face, when the jumbo jet took off from Chicago O'hare for the long flight to Bangkok, and then Pattaya. The flight was smooth all the way through the end. Cleared customs fast, exchanged $300 to baht and then outside to get the taxi. This is were the first "bad luck syndrome "started to take place. As usual we were approached by a lady asking me and Gurrock1 if we wanted a taxi,(the illegal kind) we said yes and started negotiating from 1500 to 1200 tolls included, all agreed and we follow her outside and her helper(man) and as soon as the helper(driver) got the first luggage in the trunk, about 3 Thai cops surround us and are asking us were we are going and that do we know that the guy is an illegal taxi?. A cop is asking me for my passport, I handed to him, looks at it for 2 min and gives it back and tells us to go down and get the Legal taxi. we say thank you and so sorry to them and go down. The ride to Pattaya was slow since I think the driver we had, was the most caution man I've ever seen driving, not a mile over the limit.

we get to pattaya and driver drops Gurrock1 at Sandy Spring hotel and then takes me to Drunk Duck, which is next to Metro Apts..on Soi L.K.Metro, same price 550 baht for the day, cheap and nice. I didnt like this hotel as much as Metro Apts, but I couldnt argue about the price..spent 5 days here and the rest at Metro.

Next day I meet up with Gurrock1 and we started looking as to were we will rent the motorbikes. I went over to the same smuck over on beach road, since I've been there 2x the guy knew me. gave him 2500 for 17 days, argued a little about how much deposit, I should leave and agreed on 500 not 1000 baht deposit.This was the newest motorbike I had in Pattaya, only 40Km so it was new and nice to ride, then we went over to get our Thai sim card activated and after that we were in full swing in Pattaya.

I've already discussed this topic on the tread I made a couple of days ago. I will summorize it quickly, since I do not want to repeat my self too many times. I will call it the "bad luck syndrome" since the first couple of days were not so good.

this is where the huge difference comes between a girl from Costa Rica and a Thai girl. The pampering I received in Thailand from almost all the girls is beyond anything I would have only dreamed in Costa Rica. That's why he should keep his ass in the USA as the last thing we need is guys getting VD and then continuing to BB girls with impunity.

First, at least he admitted what happened with him so others could learn from his mistakes.

Second, the bulk of the world does not require a doc to proscribe. Therefore taking an antibiotic without a proscription will not always be wrong. I see the point of criticism for those who take antibiotics to ward off the illness that hasn't shown yet. In HM's case I advised him to take Zithromax when I believed he was sick.

Third, if this board becomes a place where bashing is OK, it will discourage members from honestly posting their experiences. I'd be the first to admit I've made my mistakes and I hope learned from them. If some other monger learns from reading about my mistakes then I think I served the community, by confessing to them.

Just so you know, I'd rate Bangkok Pattaya Hospital (in Pattaya) or Bumrungrad (in Bangkok) right up there with any US hospital in terms of quality of treatment. And they're 10x more efficient than any US hospital could hope to be, with all the regulations and lawyers we have in this country. Not to mention the cost of treatment will probably be 1/3 to 1/10 what it'll cost you in the States. No medical insurance - all the more reason to seek treatment there!

As always, I am always conserned that a monger who picks up an infection does his best to go back and inform the "affected" partners.

Happy Monge - Actually most people do not have symptoms of either and do not even realize they have it. Warts (hpv) usually come and go as they please and you never know if you will have a herpes outbreak.. could happen days or even years after the contact. Some have it much worse than others. The doctors usually do not test for either.. They only test for hiv, syp, gono, clap etc. I'm not trying to knock you on your risky behavior but just to let you know that you can or probably are catching stuff you dont even realize. Further gentlemen, all scientific evidence leads to the conclusion that condoms lessen the risks of sexual conduct. No accredited doctors claim that condoms eliminate the risks entirely. Therefore, THM sharing his experience with an STD may benefit all in the community.

I can only say that I've received degrees from major universities all the way through a doctorate degree and have never seen this usage of the English language deemed acceptable.
The quote begins with a sentence fragment. Your third sentence is a question ending with a period. Next time try a question mark. Your last sentence has the phrase you stupid bastards at the end with no punctuation or connecting word.
Out of four sentences in your post, only one is grammatically correct. Were I to be appointed your third grade english teacher you would get a "D".

Having studied liberal arts and law, I believe that the point to be taken here isn't the one I just made. Rather, I think the point to be made is that most of us support this board for the free exchange of information, art and ideas. This requires a free and unfettered atmosphere. If our posts resort to flame throwing and name calling the quality of the board will quickly deteriorate, if it hasn't already. There is a right and a wrong way to express your opinions. If we continue to go down the path of intolerance we will surely become no different than those that want to restrict our freedoms. The last thing we want to do is to chase away contributing board members with name calling and flame throwing, ostracizing them from our community.

I'm not sure the choices the girls make are as unconstrained as those the guys make. If you think the girls are on equal footing with the guys they're having sex with, you are delusional. Many of these girls are from desparately poor families and communities, and many if not most are very poorly educated. I think there is a moral imperative of the powerful to not take advantage of the relatively powerless, especially when doing so jeopardizes their health and, potentially, their lives. Keep in mind that many stds have much more devastating consequences for women than for men.

I have less of a problem with first world men being stupid and exposing themselves to disease than I have with those same men putting women in developing countries at risk, just for the sake of an incremental amount of pleasure.

I give you credit for making a logical and concise argument. That said, I don't see your trip report from Thailand posted here. I don't believe that Thailand is a third world country at the same level as Vietnam. The Thai government has made a point of educating it's children. The literacy level is high there. The Thai government has one of the strongest campaigns in the world to educate it's people about STDs. I've spent months in Thailand over the last two years. I'm not advocating barebacking. Further, I think your point is better taken with the monger who visits a true third world country. Since different board members have preferences for different countries, I think it's better to keep my opinions to myself, as to which countries are third world or second world.

I agree that the use of coercion in our hobby or at most other times, is morally bankrupt. Many of the members of this board have spoken up in the past about the US policies regarding photos. We all know that it's impossible for us to get a photocopy of the identification for every girl we go with. We can stay in hotels that demand identification from the girls. If we return home to the US with our pictures we are vulnerable to our government asking us to prove that our girls were of age. It seems apparent that THM's story didn't only explain how he got the STD. he also talked about how he treated the disease, and the mistakes he made in recognition and treatment. Perhaps if earlier mongers were more forthcoming as to their experiences THM would have known his options better. Reading his story, I think that he could have seen the symptoms earlier. He also could have gotten treatment earlier. These insights would have saved him pain, time and money. I think the purpose of his post was to prevent others from making those mistakes. THM even made the case for condoms as others saw the results of his behavior. Many of the mongers on this board will go for the BBBJ. Any glance at health care information will tell us that we can get some of the common STDs this way. We are lucky in as much as conventional medical thinking is that HIV doesn't transmit through Saliva. This doesn't protect us from other STDs that are transmitted through the BBBJ. I'm not telling you that advocating safer behaviors is wrong. I'm telling you that comments like

I was married to a woman for thirteen years who was an editor, by profession. She had written manuals on grammar and style. She spent her workdays proofing professional articles. Little in the world irritated me as much as her corrections of my English. I'm sure that THM felt the same way with regards to the members correcting his grammar, usage and spelling. For that matter, it was obvious that Drbrew1 didn't like my correcting and grading his grammar. I don't blame him, but it made my point.

My comments weren't meant to apply only to Thailand, but I've been to Thailand over a dozen times. I just don't do trip reports.

Thailand is classified still as a developing country, but there's no doubt it sits in the upper echelon of said countries. Basic literacy rates are high there. That said, have you ever spent time in the more rural parts of Thailand, the very places where a huge percentage of the go-go and bar girls come from? They are, for the most part, very poor communities, still almost completely agrarian, relying on outdated technology, and with poor-quality schools. The girls from these places are--literally- dirt poor. While Thailand may not fall into the lower quartile of developing countries, the bar girls usually come from the lowest SES communities in Thailand (if you doubt this, there's a pretty large academic literature on this in Thailand). It's not as easy as it might seem to draw the lines you'd like to between those girls who might be disadvantaged and those who are not simply on the basis of country of origin.

I appreciate the tone of your response. The vast majority of us would choose to avoid coercive situations. It's difficult to draw the line sometimes, but I think it's fairly clear cut when a guy offers a poor girl what amounts to an extra few bucks to go bareback. When there's no exchange of cash or good (and no implied exchange), anything goes. But when sex is commoditized, coercion becomes a distinct possibility when you're dealing with poor women, so my standard is that bb sex should be avoided, given the potential risks for her. But that's just my standard.
