Jocannon may be taking girls up 2-3 at a times this week.
(Jets -3 )will ride the city's emotions in front of national primetime.

Eclipse hit a triple too looks like.

By Sakebomb on Monday, October 01, 2001 - 06:19 pm:  Edit

Looks like Jocannon is buying chicas AND bottle for all of us with back up from Eclipse. Congrats gent!!! I'm out 400bones this week.

One thing I try to pride myself on is the research I do when I bet on sports. I am so pissed at myself for not realizing that Fred Taylor was not playing for the Jags on Sunday. Because of that, I lost my ass on the Jags-Browns game last Sunday. It also doesn't help with Brunell getting knocked out of the game in the first quarter.

By Eclipse on Tuesday, October 02, 2001 - 02:53 am:  Edit

Athos won 1 of his parlays too. As did sakebomb and jo. Nice going. Im still about $150 in the hole after my win vs all my losses for the last 3 weeks.

btw athos, your prediction of the chargers game score came eeriely close to the real thing. sometimes you start to scare me with your prophecies... even though i suspect you have made a pact with the devil to win all your nfl games, i still enjoy hearing your thoughts and opinions nonetheless :)

sakebomb, the VikeStinks might be coming around now. they are now 3.5 underdogs at new orleans this next week. i think they have much better odds than ppl are giving them credit for due to the complete breakdown the 1st two games and the team turmoil.

For this upcoming week my favorites are -

Green Bay as +2.5 underdogs at Tampa
San Diego -3.0 at Cleveland
N.Y. Jets at Buffalo , no line on this game yet.

Buffalo is going to stink the rest of the year against any decent team with all the injuries they have.

Eclipse

I split last week so ended +$175 so I am 1-0-2 so far this year, bit disappointed but still an honest +$600.
I intend to get off the schnide this week as I have no upset special this week.

teaser 1 -130
NY Giants -7 vs Redskins
Eagles -7 vs Cardinals

teaser 2, -130
Dolphins -3 vs Patriots
Broncos -3 vs Chiefs

If everything is well by 12:30 pm on sun, will finish weekend with teaser 3, -110:
49ers pick vs Panthers
Rams -5 at Lions

I like your parlay but would replace the Packers game with taking the Oakland-Dallas Over as it is an appetizing 41. Oakland will score at least 31, more like 41.

By Explorer8939 on Tuesday, October 02, 2001 - 05:04 am:  Edit

The Redskins will either beat the Giants or Dallas once this year (among the 4 games). Timing that upset will be the tough part.

By POWERSLAVE on Tuesday, October 02, 2001 - 11:11 am:  Edit

Explorer, I hope you are correct about beating the NY Giants, but they way they are stinking up the place right now, this may be a perfect season.

By Athos on Tuesday, October 02, 2001 - 04:56 pm:  Edit

I placed my bets tonight and decided to go with the greatest show on earth for teaser 2:
Dolphins -3 and Rams -5.5.
Decided to also go straight with Chargers -3 at Browns.
Only line to move was Rams going from 11 to 12.5.

By Sakebomb on Wednesday, October 03, 2001 - 04:46 am:  Edit

Chargers Power made a great move to sign DT Mae Tavenusa to replace out-4-season injured Jamal W. Tave owned 2 rings w/ the Broncos and had 19 1/2 sacks the last 3 yrs. Great pick-up. Any of you guys know why he's available w/ such a great career & stat?

!!!!GO BOLTS!!!!!GO BOLTS!!!!GO BOLTS!!!!!!!!

By Athos on Wednesday, October 03, 2001 - 07:29 am:  Edit

SB
Maa T. is 31 years old hence made expendable with salary cap. He is a good player and will be part of rotation at DT.
What's your game plan this week, parlays, teasers...???
I'll be at Pueblo Amigo at 9:00 am non smoker side.
For those of you leery to cash money in TJ, there is this Caliente right by the 3 story building just before the consulate. It has heavy AC and all games are shown but not as comfy as Pueblo Amigo.
Chargers 30 - Browns 22

By Jocannon on Wednesday, October 03, 2001 - 12:44 pm:  Edit

I was definitely lucky on Sunday-Monday as I not only hit the 4 teamer on Sun. afternoon games but also hit another 4 teamer with the Eagles + over 34 1/2 + SF + under 44 1/2. The truly luckiest part was realized when I looked at my ticket to re-check the point spread and over/under total right before the start of MNF. I discovered that I had apparently mismarked the ticket just before the Eagles game as I planned to bet the over (44 1/2)on the Jets/49ers. Net result $50 erroneous wager paid $550.

I did not get the 12 1/2 to 1 odds on my 4 team parlays as I have in past years. As far as I know, these should still be available at some of the smaller off-strip and downtown casinos. The major hotels only pay 10-1 or 11-1.

Some friends that were already in Vegas made the bets that I picked above at Mandalay Bay which pays 11-1 on the 1/2 point (normal line) parlay cards. I didn't get into town until after the Sunday late games had started.

I was 10-1 on my team picks with Buffalo the only loser, although I didn't have any money on Minn. Amount bet $130. Amount cashed $990 for net +$860. I did give a couple hundred back at the tables and another $100 spent during a few hours at Cheetahs(not too thrilling after all my recent TJ mongering). Will probably use some of the winnings for a new pair of reading glasses.

OK enough gloating. Being lucky is one thing; being realistic is another. Although I have had decent success with NFL 4 teamers in the past, I'm not foolish to think I can make a living at it. As Porker so adeptly pointed out in a thread on the Mexico discus, the evils of gambling far outweigh the benefits. That is why I only wager small amounts. Football is the only sport I bet and it is confined to when I go to Vegas. Altough I may be tempted (Uh oh, Porker) to go to Caliente when I'm in TJ.

My picks later for this week's games. Any of you Charger fans want to bet a chica session with a Browns fan? All of you are probably licking your chops at that offer.

By Governor on Friday, October 05, 2001 - 12:16 pm:  Edit

I only threw down one bet this week. Took the Cardinals +14 and the under, which I think was 41. I'm hoping the cardinals are able to score 10 or 13 points and philly stinks it up.

By Athos on Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 02:59 am:  Edit

Just checked weather forecast, beautiful balmy day in Cleveland, New York and Philly.
Cards have won 5 of 7 vs Eagles so I don't expect Eagles to slow down.
Same thing for Giants as Redskins have won 4 out of last 5.
Chargers are healthy, Browns still missing DE Courtney Brown.

By Jocannon on Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 07:43 am:  Edit

Guess no takers on my SD/CLE offer? maybe another time (like the playoffs... LOL ...even my expectations aren't that high for the Brownies). My picks:

Early games
BAL -3.5
ATL -3.5
MIA -9.5
CLE +3.5

Late games
KC +10
JAX -3.5
TB -2.5
JETS -4.5

$30 on above parlays plus $40 parlay on
ATL -3.5
SF -6.5
TB -2.5
BAL -3.5

Anyone know what are the odds on 4 teamers at Caliente? Do they use 1/2 point tickets or do you just bet the parlay off the regular line and in the event of ties, it goes to next lower payoff?

By Athos on Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 10:29 am:  Edit

JoCannon
I think 4 team parlay is 12 to 1.
In case of a tie, it goes to next lower so 4 team teaser becomes 3 team teaser.
Are you in TJ this weekeend??? TJ line is Dolphins -10, Browns +3, Ravens -4.

By Jocannon on Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 11:37 am:  Edit

I'm heading down to TJ tonight and plan to watch games at PA. I saw you mentioned non-smoking room so I'll try to grab a seat there.

My picks are based on Vegas line 1/2 pt. cards which comes out on Thurs. I figured that TJ would be different. Are these posted online?

If you are there tomorrow, look me up. Old fat dude with bald head, goatee, probably wearing Pacifico white T shirt.

No action on my Chargers offer so it's withdrawn as I'm outta here.

By Junkboy on Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 12:13 pm:  Edit

3 for 3 pays 6:1
4 for 4 pays 10:1
5 for 5 pays 20:1
6 for 6 pays 40:1
7 for 7 pays 75:1
8 for 8 pays 150:1
9 for 9 pays 275:1
and 10 for 10 pays 500:1
taken from the Caliente yellow weekly sports card.

By Junkboy on Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 12:19 pm:  Edit

Interesting note to add... the first Caliente rule is that Ties Lose!!

By Eclipse on Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 02:05 pm:  Edit

Put a few bets down tonight. The biggest of which is a 3 team parlay of -

Ravens -3.5 vs Titans
Jets -3.5 vs Bills
Dolphins -9.0 vs Patriots

I also put about 5 different teasers down. Hope one of them hits!

By Athos on Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 02:52 pm:  Edit

Junkboy
The yellow parlay rules are different from the regular parlay using current lines, payouts are also different.
Yellow parlays use opening lines and add 1/2 point to underdog.

By Eclipse on Saturday, October 06, 2001 - 06:50 pm:  Edit

Athos , you gonna be at pueblo amigo to watch the games tomorrow? or rather, in about 8 hours from now...

By Bullitt on Sunday, October 07, 2001 - 05:57 am:  Edit

Athos,

So a difference between the parlay cards and betting off the sheets is on the cards ties lose, but on the sheets a tie is a tie?

Usually if I bet a 3 teamer off the sheets off the sheets and get a tie and two winners I get paid a two team parlay.

By Eclipse on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 12:50 am:  Edit

WOOP! I hit another 3 teamer. That one made me $300 bones. I lost a 4 team parlay cuz of the Packs. Soooooooooo close yet so far. It would've paid a neat grand if thepacks woulda kicked a dam field goal instead of going for the win the last 2mins:) So this week I'm actually ahead $100. Overall, down $50.

How'd everyone else do?

By Sakebomb on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 04:22 am:  Edit

Eclipse, I saw that 3teamer of yours. Congrats!!! I was "vely vely" lucky this week...BY NOT BE ABLE TO LAY ANY BETS. Nympho long blonde Alexia CC kept me checked in bed for 2 days. Otherwise, I'd have wasted 3 of 4 two-teamer teasers. Damn JAX & ATL. She saved me 400bones, so this week I'll lay 100bones 2teamer for her.

By Athos on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 04:29 am:  Edit

I am struggling this year so far; having lost big on teaser with Cards winning in Philly despite being outplayed the whole game, that's why they play the game. As long as Rams wins tonight by 6 I'll be down only $100 this weekend, otherwise 4 digit loss.
I am extremely down after seeing Chargers lose a winninable game in Cleveland. Met JoCannon at PA, spent the night in TJ, no line by foot at 9:00 am maybe 5 mn.

By Sakebomb on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 05:06 am:  Edit

Go RAMS..RAMS..RAMS...for my flend Athos. Frick, 4 digit loss is equal to 20+ pussies not being re-examed by Dr. Athos. What were you thinking anyway man? Are you trying to hit big for your trip to Sao Paulo? Take it easy my flend. I try to limit myself 3-400bones/week, unless I bank w/ winning bones.

My 4 teasers were pretty much like Jocannon's parlays so I'd have lost big on JAX & ATL.

Five min. of silence for my Chargers "less Power" last week. The game could have been changed entirely if they could have pounded it it at the 1 yard line instead of settling for that field goal. Flute wasn't even on, his worst game YTD. Browns played great!!! Couch was incredible, he looked like a young Warner. I thought the Browns really earned it the hard way. Fun-da-men-tal football!!!

Don't "wolly"...Chargers just being recharged. They will come back strong so watch out PATS!!! I actually thought that the loss would take the pressure off them.

By Athos on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 05:30 am:  Edit

My Chargers dream is over...but I am getting my throw back jersey anyway.
No I am back to one teaser a week as I thought this was the easiest weekend of the year. Shame on me. I pulled the SakeBomb move last night, had a ZN hottie take me to her home for some TLC to forget Chargers misery.

By Eclipse on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 12:32 pm:  Edit

Rams 21-0 at halftime. Now I just need them to score another 29 points and I'm good on my parlay. It'd be nice to see a 50-0 blowout of the lions. heh.

By Jocannon on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 02:13 pm:  Edit

Sorry Eclipse... I just recouped yesterday's losses. After watching most of the afternoon games with my new acquaintance, Athos (nice meeting you, dude) I made a $10 parlay on 49ers + Rams + under on both games. My 3rd 4-teamer in 2 weeks.

By Jocannon on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 02:33 pm:  Edit

Athos...I'm envious after seeing who you hooked up with last night. Wow, she took you home? What a stud. She's definitely a hottie and it's easy to understand how she could take a guy's mind off any other troubles he may have.

BTW to get back on topic for the thread, didn't I tell you the Lions would have trouble scoring? That's why I figured under 49 1/2 was a good bet.

SAKEBOMB: No wonder I couldn't come to terms with Alexia for a couple hours at my hotel late Saturday night. Sounds like she had plans with you. You weren't the guy that came over and tried to interpret for us were you? I understood her but she didn't think I did. If it was you (about 2:30am-actually Sunday morning), my recall isn't what I thought it is. I should be able to recognize you as we discussed previously that I was sitting at the new bar that night when the fight broke out involving your friend, the local, and Grecia.

By Athos on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 03:07 pm:  Edit

JC
Good job catching up. I'll lay down my teaser on Thu. Which team is going to be the last standing winless? Redskins is my pick.

Eclipse
Excellent 3 team teaser but taking an over 49.5???

By Sakebomb on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 06:18 pm:  Edit

Damn Athos...it had to be a Chargers Power loss for you to finally do what I've been telling you. Congrats on your overnight adventure!!! It always kicks ass to go home w/ a hottie, bag her in her own bed, sleep in late, and have late brunch served. Did her name start w/ a M???

Jocannon, it wasn't me, but I was there around that time w/ 4 of my big drunk friends. We were sitting at a table along the dance floor next to the waiters' station at the orig. bar. May be you couldn't see me because I was busy tonguing Janet, Liliana's friend. Then Jenny wanted to privately talk to me so she dragged my ass to the empty alcove. Next time, please stop by to have a drink w/ us.

I'm looking forward to see you guys picks this week. Make it early so I can review and lay them insteads of burying myself in bed again.

May Pussy God blesses all our bets this week!!!

SB
I did not pull a complete SB move as I skipped whole day date as she wanted to keep me for herself.
Sorry about Chargers, my fault... but man Patriots are ripe for a road win.
Interesting lines for teasers:
Bears -7 vs Cards
Vikings -10 vs Lions
Saints -5 at Panthers
Rams -10 vs Giants
Chargers -3 at Patriots
Dolphins -3 at Jets
Broncos -7 at Seahawks

By Athos on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 - 03:03 am:  Edit

I am rather a bit nervous putting my faith in Da Bears at Soldier Field:
teaser:
Rams -3 vs Giants and Bears pick vs Cards
fun teaser:
Rams -3
Bears pick
Vikes -3 vs Lions
Saints +2 at Panthers
Dolphins +4 at Jets
Broncos pick at Seahawks
Straight bet: Chargers -3 at NE
My upset special for this week:
Ravens +1 at GB, Ravens win.
Best game of the week:
Cowboys -2.5 vs Redskins, Cowboys win 4-2 in OT.

By Eclipse on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 - 08:33 am:  Edit

LOL athos. nice score prediction for the cowboys-skins game.

Cowboys will win that game easily. If you watched any of the games, you'll see the skins are a team that is deterioating faster than the Taliban regime. Cowboys are actually putting forth a good effort every game. And wright at qb makes them a much better team.

By Bigmark on Saturday, October 13, 2001 - 04:08 pm:  Edit

I got a six team teaser with 4 wins and 2 ties on it. That would pay for a 4 team teaser, right? Hopefully someone knows out there. The Ravens and the Niners look like the plays tommorrow.

By Eclipse on Sunday, October 14, 2001 - 12:02 am:  Edit

Yeah, ties on parlays negates that choice. Your 6team parlay would now be a 4team parlay.

By Jocannon on Sunday, October 14, 2001 - 09:35 am:  Edit

I tried to post my pics yesterday but evidently I forgot to click post after the preview. I only made small plays (total $80) this week as I didn't like the matchups. Out of 8 games played in various combos, I was 3-5. Had dogs Giants, Panthers, plus Tennessee. Rest of faves either lost or didn't cover. Late scores by Lions and Pats killed what was looking like a 4-team winner.

One parlay left:
SNF Colts -3.5 + und 53 +
MNF Skins +3 + ovr 36.

By Athos on Monday, October 15, 2001 - 02:59 am:  Edit

This was black Sunday for me as Chargers gave up 10 pt lead and I lost my teaser as Giants just manhandled Rams.
Parity has come back this week so picking has become even tougher.
