Covered call trades for this month: ISIS, MYK, NANX,
TKTX, USG (the 10 calls, not the 12.5s).
Any others I should look at? I still have some cash on the sidelines to play with.

How is the USG working out?
I remember it took a dive and then came back up right after your initial investment.
I had MIK and GE assigned. Made a good return on both and have decided to take 15% of the profit and donate to charity this afternoon.

Thinking out loud.
Predicting the market is a very difficult thing to do and at best one can be right about 50% of the time.
I think the earnings reports and forecasts for the next quarter are going to be disappointing and the sell off will continue for a few weeks.
I also think that the low interest rates and tax cuts will really stimulate the economy and by the end of the year and maybe even by August or September we will see the market having a good rally.
Just pure speculation on my part and I am wrong at least half the time.

Buying Opportunity????
EK down to $27.65 today.
At this price the dividend is over 6%.
Didn't someone suggest buying this stock when it was around $31?
I will consult with Sugar Pie today and see what she thinks.

USG has been working out great. My shares were assigned, so I bought more today at 13.01, and then sold the July 10 calls for 3.60. Unless it falls more than 23% in the next four weeks, I will make another 6% profit on it.
By Kendricks on Monday, June 23, 2003 - 11:50 am: Edit |
But how long do you think it will take before EK stops paying a dividend?
I've been thinking about what you said before - film will soon be going the way of 8 track tapes. I wouldn't buy EK with Ldvee's money.

Wow on USG!!!
Your stocks go up today and all of mine go down.
Maybe a good day to buy somemore losers??Hey Ldvee, I need some suggestions on what to buy today.
By Ldvee on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 - 05:29 pm: Edit |
I hsve a loser for you, a $20,000 1997 RV now sitting in a Chevy dealership in Mexicali. Motor caught fire. It's all a melted mess of goo under the hood. Good thing I had a fire extingerthing amigjig or the whole fucking thnig would be a puddle of goo.
For sale cheap.
I'm gonna get more drunk now.
Fuck, shit, piss, cunt.
All use guys buy SURE and EJ tomrorrow, get the certificates and jamb 'em up your old smelly asses.

ENWV and CSTL both look like nice plays here, too. If CSTL opens at anywhere near 2.50, it is a screaming buy.
By Kendricks on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 06:37 am: Edit |
Got filled on CSTL between 2.91 and 2.98, and EVWV at 2.44. Still long FONR, and a small amount of CLN.
Is anyone else doing any trading out there?
By Kendricks on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 06:40 am: Edit |
Still long CRIO too. Should've gotten into that AKS trade near 3, it is up 20% since I was considering buying it. Oh well. I wouldn't touch it here.
By Ldvee on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 07:53 am: Edit |
Many apologies for the drunken rant last night. It's a bit disconcerting knowing that a $20K RV is sitting in Mexicali with a burned out engine compartment. At least it's safe locked up in a Chevy dealership garage.
Shit happens.

Sorry to hear about your RV. When you get it repaired drive from Tecate to Ensenada through the wine country. Nice relaxing trip.
Kendricks,
Thanks for the stocks you mentioned this morning. I have some cash and I am looking.
I did buy another 1,000 shares of ICOS and I wrote the July 40 Calls. I now own 1500 shares of ICOS and have July 40 calls on all shares.
By Kendricks on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 08:42 am: Edit |
I didn't take it personal. I thought it was kind of a fun rant, actually. Good luck on the RV situation.

Ben, I'm interested in your thoughts on the stocks I mentioned. I particularly think that FONR, CSTL and ENWV are interesting.
It's not EVWV, like I posted once, that was a typo. It is ENWV.

Kendricks,
ENVW has a nice balance sheet and looks like it is turning around its business. It sure looks better at $2.44 than it did a few years ago at $80
Ldvee,
Did your scotch soaked fingers slip off the K key and hit the J key? HA
By Ben on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 09:05 am: Edit |
EK still going down. If you bought this loser today, the dividend yield is 6.5%
I wonder when this turkey will stop going down?
Ldvee, be SURE and tell me when you decide to sell out your EK.
Gracias,

Kendricks,
I just put in a limit order for 1,000 shares of ENWV at $2.39 which is $2.44 with the $50 commission.
I believe it is the first time I have followed one of your recommendations.
By Kendricks on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 09:27 am: Edit |
I believe it is the first time. Good luck on it!
By Ben on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 09:33 am: Edit |
Don't tell Ldvee.
By Ben on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 09:41 am: Edit |
The volume really sucks on ENWV!
By Kendricks on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 10:45 am: Edit |
Yeah, the volume is bad today. It has its days, though.
By Ben on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 11:31 am: Edit |
Last trade was at $2.40, but now the ask is back up to $2.44.
I tried to cancel my limit order and go to the market, but I was too late.
I guess I shouldn't quibble over $40, but I wanted to buy in at the same price as you and I have to charge myself a $50 commission. I do get $45 of it back.
Ldvee, stay away until your luck changes
By Kendricks on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 - 03:45 pm: Edit |
Did you get in? ENWV had a strong finish, and looks like it could be moving up from here.

My $2.39 limit order did not fill.
I watched it go up to $2.60 before the market closed. I am not sure when it reached $2.61, but I left for TJ around 12:00.
Currently trading at $2.47.

LDV,
If it sounds too good to be true yada yada yada.
I have been following this stock for a year and I still don't understand how it can pay out that high dividend.
I don't understand how this REIT management is so much smarter than the rest of REITS.
They have to be paying out principal with the interest is my guess or they are making very high-risk loans. Maybe neither of those options, but I don't get it so I don't buy it.

Where are you finding this stuff?
I have never heard of most of these companies.
No wonder you piss everybody off! LOL
By Kendricks on Thursday, June 26, 2003 - 02:25 pm: Edit |
I often use the CNBC stock advanced screener to look for stocks that are low priced, have no debt, and are near their lows and/or have taken big dumps. When I find ones that meet these rough criteria, I analyze the type of business they are in, their chart pattern, if they are near a good entry point, and their earnings and growth potential. I think I found CSTL this way.
I'll also look for low priced stocks breaking out to new 52 week highs on increased volume, to see if I can catch a rising star in its early stages.
I also do searches on the Yahoo message boards like "value low price cash debt" to find stocks to look at. Most of the ones you find this way suck, but there are some gems. I think I found ENWV this way.
All of these searches are nothing but starting points, of course. It is necessary to look at the charts, determine what a good entry point is, and look at the balance sheets, earnings, etc., before a decision to pull the trigger can be made.
By Kendricks on Thursday, June 26, 2003 - 02:27 pm: Edit |
By the way, I owe a debt of gratitude to Ldvee for turning me on to the Yahoo finance message boards!

MORGAN HILL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2003--Castelle (Nasdaq:CSTL - News), a leading provider of fax solutions for Fortune 1000 companies and small to medium-sized businesses, today announced that it will be one of the featured companies in BusinessWeek's Equity Investor's 26-Week Micro-Cap Review, to be published in the magazine's June 30th issue.

Scott C. McDonald, president and CEO of Castelle, stated, "Top 1% ranking in BusinessWeek's high performing stocks review is a reflection of Castelle's accomplishments in recent months, which includes sales and earnings growth despite difficult economic conditions.
"The fact that investors have raised the price of Castelle shares more than five-fold in the latest six-month period is a reflection of the investment community's increased interest in Castelle and, perhaps more importantly, our potential for future growth," McDonald continued. "They have clearly taken notice of positive trends, such as continued demand for Castelle FaxPress(TM) network fax servers, the Company's continued sales growth in North America, and an expanding presence in Europe, Asia and Latin America markets," concluded McDonald.

NLY is pretty amazing. My value line info indicates many REITS with high dividends.
RJR is right up there too.
The San Felipe RV disaster is working out good. The RV is in Calexico now and will be in San Diego Saturday. My insurance company, Mercury insurance is going to cover it. I took my travelling puta with me. My favorite line was after she cooked dinner for me she said "Ldvee, I go buy tequila for you and give you a blowjob, OK?"
Sure sweetie, sounds OK to me.
By Ben on Friday, June 27, 2003 - 07:28 am: Edit |
Gotta love those Sweetie's.
Glad you RV is moving along.
REITS, as I am sure you know have tio pay out 90% of their cash flow.
By Ldvee on Friday, June 27, 2003 - 08:12 am: Edit |
No, I don't really know to much about REITS. Are they like an alternative to bonds?
By Kendricks on Friday, June 27, 2003 - 08:29 am: Edit |
CSTL and ENWV both seem to be having nice days today.
By Ben on Friday, June 27, 2003 - 08:48 am: Edit |
REITS are certainly affected by interest rate swings just like bonds, but for more reasons
Also you have equity REITS, mortgage REITS, and some REITS that do both.

What did you buy in at Ldvee?
I am glad you don't have to use your profits from EK to pay for repairs on the RV.

I hope someone on this board followed my advice regarding investing in NYB. Use to have the stock symbol NYCB.
It hit its all-time high today of $29.24 and closed at an all-time closing high of $29.08.
I own 2000 shares and with option income, stock splits and dividends, I am in the stock at $18.30 a share. I started buying in Feb. 2002.
This stock is a real winner in my opinion and I think it could hit $35-$40 over the next couple of years. During the mean time it pays a decent dividend.
Obviously it is risky to invest in the stock market and you could lose all or part of your money buying/investing in this stock.
