Being a life long Bears fan I thought it was pretty sad they didnt scoop up Jarrett Payton as a free agent. That would be a great tribute to Walter and fun for the fans to see his kiddie running around the field. He is not a terrible running back he had a 100 plus game earlier this year. I mean he is not Dale Berra for crist sakes.

He ended up signing with the Titans. Good Luck Jarrett

Milkman--- Fellow long suffering Bears fan here. I grew up watching Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus trying to be a two man team while cheap ole Papa Bear stood on the sidelines and wondered why his team did not win every game. With Billy Wade and Bobby Douglas as quarterbacks how could we lose ??
Anyway I think the Bears passed on Jarrett because it would have put too much pressure on the kid and the team would have felt obligated to play him even if he sucked. How could they cut Walter's kid ?? I think they did great in the draft with 2 top D tackles . Run defense was their big weakness last year. With Lovey Smith as coach and new dudes to join Brian and the gang we may be getting back to the Bear's D of 84 !! Craig Krenzel may well be a sleeper pick at Q back. He is a winner-- not a great talent but smart and just wins games !!

By Milkman on Thursday, April 29, 2004 - 08:00 pm:  Edit

yea I guess you are right. They would have a hard time cutting the guy. I hope he does well. What shoes he has to fill though :-)

What's the over/under wins for Chargers? Don't they have potential to go 0-16?
I think you are a Vikings fan.

By Fooledagain1 on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 - 05:43 am:  Edit

Athos --- Chargers are 4.5, -115 for the over and -115 for the under
15-1 to win division and 100-1 to win super bowl

No, not a Vikings fan, it`s something i`ve been working on the past 4 or 5 years. The Vikes played much better than their record indicated, if they can turn that better play to wins they could win 11 - 13 games, my preseason surprise team last year was Kansas City, they went from 8-8 the year before to 13-3 last year, the Vikes are in similar position.

By Athos on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 - 09:38 pm:  Edit

ok fooledagain, all i know is I am suffering every sun so I am putting money on the under for the Chargers. Actually Vikes are pretty good with Tice as coach.

By Snapper on Thursday, July 01, 2004 - 03:47 am:  Edit

Tice is a joke, but he's good for what the Vikings are paying him.

By Snapper on Thursday, July 01, 2004 - 03:52 am:  Edit

BTW, I'm a Vikings fan...

...that remembers the fact the Mike Tice lost the last game of the season last year against the Cardinal witch bumped the Viking out of the playoffs. An extra 3 points would have made a big difference in the game for the Vikes, but Tice wanted to gamble and go for the TD instead.

With the talent on that team you deserve to be fired for not maiking the playoffs.

Cardinals will be the suprise team of the Year.

By Fooledagain1 on Thursday, July 01, 2004 - 05:41 am:  Edit

Athos--- The betting public feels the same as you, their on the under, now -125 and the over -105.

Snapper, what do you like about the Cards ?

Cowboys get Keyshawn Johnson and Eddie George. They might as well call off the NFL season and mail the Super Bowl trophy to Dallas!

By Khun_mor on Wednesday, August 04, 2004 - 09:22 pm:  Edit

Yeah Dennis Green took the very talented Vikings all the way to mediocrity. Imagine what he'll do with a dog like the Cardinals.

Bought my fantasy football mag on my way home from Asia. It's looking like lotsa new feature RB's are gonna take over in many NFL cities this year. I'd be interested in hearing y'all's opinions on the most improved defenses out there.

By Fooledagain1 on Friday, August 06, 2004 - 07:24 am:  Edit

Most improved, Vikings or the Jets, i`m not saying they`ll be among the best but definetly improved from last year.

By Explorer8939 on Friday, August 06, 2004 - 08:34 am:  Edit

I look to the Bengals to sag this year, improve next year.

Carolina will not do so well (duhhh), although they will be back next year.

Raiders will be better.

Indianapolis will have better defense, same office, so they should be OK.

2004 NFL MVP -----

Randy Moss - Minnesota Vikings - (16-1) --- 1 unit to win 16 units

By Fooledagain1 on Sunday, August 15, 2004 - 06:27 pm:  Edit

It seems every year there`s a team that becomes a favorite of the media, this year it`s Jacksonville, everyone and their brother`s jumping on the bandwagon. Personally, if i picked a team with say 6 wins or fewer last year that has a good chance to make the playoffs i`d go for the New York Jets.

Went against your sage advice and bet the Pats. Friggin push. Now I know what Bammer feels like when he's DFKing his sister.

Cannot believe the Titans are only -3.5 against the sorry Fish. Something does not smell right and it's not just the Fish.

By Milkman on Friday, September 10, 2004 - 08:18 pm:  Edit

Titans lost a lot of guys in the offseason. Mcnair is now running a daycare :-)
That is a good number to bet on 3.5 :-)

By Fooledagain1 on Friday, September 10, 2004 - 08:22 pm:  Edit

I`d be careful betting defending champs, they rarely finish the season with winning records against the spread,
I wanted to buy 1 point to +4 but couldn`t buy off of the number 3. Pats survive while being out played, their defense has a knack for stopping teams in the red zone that`s for sure, how many times do you see a team give up 200 yds rushing and win the game, not often.

By Milkman on Saturday, September 11, 2004 - 10:16 am:  Edit

That was the best first season game I think I have ever seen. The Pats lost the game but the Colts gave them the win.
Their Defense looked liked the Cowbows D :-)

Titans may have lost some players , but the Dolphins will be pathetic this season.

Now all I need is the Ravens to cover -3.5 against Cleveland ( another likely doormat this year)for a nice little parley. The Titans have already made me a good buck on straight bet.

Another attractive parley -- Seahawks -3 and Vikes -5.5. Any thoughts ??

I know it's off topic but the goddamn ref cost me a bundle in Fla-Tenn game. I had a big money line bet on Florida. The idiot ref watches both the Tennessee and Florida players trade jabs to the face and only flags Fla !!! He obviously saw both punches. One of the worst calls I have ever seen and set up the last second FG by Tenn. Even ESPN said there should be some kind of investigation. Not that I'll get my money back, but this dude had to have something at stake in the outcome to be so blind.
I guess I'm just blowin off steam.

That Minnesota-Bears game looked just too good to be true, as almost the entire Bears D was injured, and the Vikings O is just AWESOME. Yet the Bears cover with a late rally after really sloppy ball by the Vikes. Yet another reason why I am DAMNED glad I spend my cash on hookers and not bookies.

By Khun_mor on Sunday, September 26, 2004 - 10:47 pm:  Edit

Thank Buddha for the Southern Florida teams. I have made out nicely betting against the horrible Fish and the inept Bucs !!

Wanstedt will be gone by mid season I'm sure.

Never bet against my Bears. They cover more often than not.

"but this dude had to have something at stake in the outcome to be so blind."

As suspicious as that may have looked... he also would have to orchestrated the two guys on both side to get involved in that situation at that very moment.

But I do agree... you did get royally screwed!!!

I assume you are referring to my rant on the Tenn vs Fla college game and perhaps the worst call I have ever seen made. On the replay it is clear that the ref is looking straight at both players before the Tennessee player takes his punch at the Fla player beacuse they are wrestling together for a few seconds. He does not reach for his flag until the Fla player retaliates.
Proper call -- no call, boys will be boys - or at worst offsetting penalties. You cannot call only one punch when you clearly saw both. It was like he was looking for an excuse to give Tenn the 15 yards and the winning field goal. Oh well Dallas more than made up for it for me tonight !! Nice little parley Dallas and over 36, though the first half had me sweatin the over.

By Silver on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 - 07:57 pm:  Edit

Klun mor,

I totally agree with you. Had I bet Fla on the moneyline? I would still be in a rage!

There should be action taken against that particular ref. Just like they did in other sports. Like the Lakers/Nuggets game last year.

My opinion is 5-1 on the sunday/monday night game so far this year and the only one I bet is Tampa.

Point is... just like the ref who saw both player threw a punch but only penalized the Fla player. I am an idiot!

I actually bought it to 7.5 and had teaser at 13.5..only Bledsoe can take a game from an almost straight up win or at least tieing the game,to not even covering a 7 point teaser. I did take NE second half to try an middle and because Bledsoe has cost me many times before with his brilliant play..
