manning sure does look pretty damn unstoppable, they just might go all the way.
By Porker on Monday, January 10, 2005 - 07:39 pm: Edit |
Patriots have had Manning's number in the past, especially at home, and have the smartest coaches in recent memory, if not EVER. I, the layman, would do my damndest to make Edgerrin beat me and hope to NEVER bite on a play fake, but that's easier said than done and New England's DB's have ZERO track record in the NFL. That's not to say they're useless, they've done the job so far against a lot crappier offenses, but this may be the best passing attack in the history of the game. The Colts studs vs. retreads and WIDE RECEIVERS looks like the mismatch of the century.
The Colts big plays all come on play action, though, and despite the stats, Edgerrin hasn't really BEAT anybody of note this year. Why teams are afraid of him I have no idea. I'd be afraid of the guy that threw for 360 yards in a HALF last week and for 4 TD's against a New England team WITH Ty Law (albeit in the regular season and at dome. Oh, and still LOST!) last year. If it wasn't for Edge's fumbles in week one THIS game might have been in the Dome, but coulda woulda shouldas are pretty damned cheap.
Respect for the Pats and their coaches at home with possible bad weather is the only reason I wouldn't bet the Colts straight up in this game. Well, and if it comes down to kickers, Vinatieri has been waaaay better this year. Oh, and the fact that I'm a consistent loser when I bet!
By Don Marco on Monday, January 10, 2005 - 09:22 pm: Edit |
holmes, they looked damn unstoppable last year too...
I certainly don't have a warm and fuzzy, but I'll stand by my Pats who haven't let me down for quite a while.
By Porker on Monday, January 10, 2005 - 09:35 pm: Edit |
Ty Law and the refs stopped them last year. Now poor Ty's not around anymore, nor is the starter on the other side, and we all know what happened with the refs, now don't we?
By Mrholmes on Monday, January 10, 2005 - 09:41 pm: Edit |
first the sox, now the colts. Look for the upset.
It is going to be that kind of a year.

Porker
A 4 team 13 pt teaser may be a wussy sucker bet but it has been my bread and butter last year and this year when I needed to make money and turn things around.
One of the only teaser bets I lost this year was because Don Marco's Patriots could not beat the worse team in football (the Dolphins) , straight up on MNF.
That of course made me hate the Pats more than I already do.
Unfortunately due to finances I only bet $100 a week and since I am betting through a good friend's account.
By Gregorio on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - 04:57 am: Edit |
I can see the Colts arrive in Foxboro now. Tony Dungy, during the team's first practice session, gathers the squad together, walks out to the endzone at one end of the field, pulls out a tape measure, and walks deliberately to the other endzone.
Reminiscent of Gene Hackman in "Hoosiers" he will remind his team that the football field is 100 yards long, just like the RCA Dome in Indy...
By Don Marco on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - 10:53 am: Edit |
well cept the RCA dome is not being pelted with ice, snow, and rain.

I'm loving the sound of that weather report...

hmm can we move the game up to friday?
By Maximus743 on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - 03:25 pm: Edit |
Ditto
I hope the weather holds on as I want to see a game in good weather so the weather does not favor one team.
I want the Colts to win however I have not done my research yet and will not make a bet yet.

but snow forecasted in Pittsburgh....good luck Jets, lol
By Maximus743 on Thursday, January 13, 2005 - 07:25 pm: Edit |
OH F@cK!
My friend just told me he heard John Abraham won't play as he does not want to get injured before his deal is in place. That really sucks if true as with him they can definitely beat Pittsburg. Also Chad was sick. Abraham and Pennington both were seen in the 15 minute practice in front of the press
Damn Pittsburg is starting to get luckier than NE has been.
By Blazers on Thursday, January 13, 2005 - 08:54 pm: Edit |
Classic excuse making before the game to hedge your bets. Pittsburgh is a much better team than the Jets and so is New England...luck has nothing to do with it. Abraham hasnt played in a while anyways. Remember Pitt has been without two pro bowl starters, including the game against the Jets(Casey Hampton and Kendrell Bell) and dont forget that Burress was also hurt against the Jets. He is an important piece to the puzzle because he is Pitt's deep threat and will wreak havoc on the Jets secondary. I dont expect a close game this time and I expect Pennington will be just fine for the game as he had a stomach virus......quit making fucking excuses BEFORE the game.
By Maximus743 on Thursday, January 13, 2005 - 11:28 pm: Edit |
Much better? LOL!
NE barely beat every team last year including Carolina in the Super Bowl
NE could not even beat Miami on MNF this season

Blazers
BTW why did you become a band wagon Steelers fan?
By Athos on Friday, January 14, 2005 - 12:17 am: Edit |
Well I could not resist and put money on the Colts +2.5
These f. at caliente are not allowing teasers this weekend I mean shit wanted to go steelers, vikes and colts.
By Maximus743 on Friday, January 14, 2005 - 01:30 am: Edit |
Vegas is not allowing teasers either.
Some online books are allowing them.
They did last year as well.
Good luck on the Colts. I'm with you on that one.
By Don Marco on Friday, January 14, 2005 - 05:36 am: Edit |
Max, the pats just "barely beat" all your picks last year-- ya I guess that does make 'em better until proven otherwise.
MNF with nothing to gain or lose-- please... How bout the colts loss to denver? Did that mean much last week?
If not the Pats, let Ben and boys run it!
By Fooledagain1 on Friday, January 14, 2005 - 07:16 am: Edit |
There`s a reason vegas doesn`t allow teasers in the playoffs, as i mentioned in a prior post, margins of victory go up and the house knows it.
Most people had SD way overrated, now after the Jets beat them they are overrating the Jets. I posted back before week 16 that SD would not do well in the playoffs, and also posted before the platyoffs began that teams like SD raraly do well in playoffs, and if you read my post about the myth of entering the playoffs hot, i stated don`t be surprised if the Jets or Vikes win outright, well they both did, that was a surprise to alot of people, it shouldn`t of been, it went pretty much to form.
Many people who gave the Jets no chance to win in SD now are saying the Jets have a chance to beat Pitt, i love it, they`re upside down and backwards and alot of those people are supposedly the experts in the media, there not, Pitt is the highest rated team in over a decade, this gaqme is no contest, Pitt will win by at least 17 pts., possiblly could lead by 17 at half time.
By Blazers on Friday, January 14, 2005 - 08:36 am: Edit |
Not a bandwagon fan maxy....if you want I can email you pics of me when I was 6 years old with my Lynn Swann kids jersey. I wont even touch jerseys of others teams....one team forever. I noticed you didnt respond to my response to your Hedging your bets by making excuses before the game.
Pittsburgh 34 Jets 10....bet on it...I did
By Maximus743 on Friday, January 14, 2005 - 01:07 pm: Edit |
I am still taking Jets +9.5 and
taking them +22 1/2 on a 4 team 13 pt teaser.
Blazers I would be happy to take +24 from you and make a bet on it if you are that confident.
By Maximus743 on Friday, January 14, 2005 - 01:13 pm: Edit |
Don Marco
I won money on Carolina vs NE in the Super bowl
I believe the post is still on here somewhere.
This year as you know the weak ass PAts cost me vs the Dolphins and the difference is they played their starters the Colts did not vs Denver and Brady made an ass of himself on MNF with that pee wee football type play he made that cost me my money.
The only teams I will root for are the Jets and Colts , and any NFC team except for Philly
Although I will take any NFC team vs the Pats or Steelers as I do not like Pats and Steelers at all.
By Don Marco on Friday, January 14, 2005 - 02:03 pm: Edit |
Couldn't resist the +4000 futures on the Vikes taking it all.
Took the Colts +1 1st half (they may creap out to an early lead until Mr Bill sures em up at the 1/2)
Good luck all.
By Porker on Saturday, January 15, 2005 - 11:12 am: Edit |
With a hot Bulger and playing on turf, I think the Rams are a lock to score at least 24 points today. Whether that means bet the over (48?) or take them +7, I can't decide. I'll probably end up smarter than usual and not bet, but I got the itch.
I have similar thoughts about the Colts tomorrow. I think you can spot them 27 going in. Whether that's enough to win or to bet the over is a 50-50 proposition.
Interesting to hear Fooledagain's analysis of the Steelers-Jets. He's right that it's tough to see a 15-1 team losing (at home, obviously) early in the playoffs to a wild card team, but 8 1/2 points seems like a lot.
OK, I'm done with the BS. Can't pick the spreads, but straight up winners look like Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Indy and Philly. I know, going way out on a limb with those picks!
By Porker on Saturday, January 15, 2005 - 12:57 pm: Edit |
The Jets are a good team. But 15-1 is 15-1. THAT is greatness.

2005 playoffs;
Pitt -9 (-105) over Jets --- 12.6 units to win 12 units
90% chance to win game - 80% to cover - should win by 17 pts. or more
Pitt -4.5 (-120) 1st half over Jets --- 7.2 units to win 6 units
don`t be surprised if they lead by 17 pts by half time
2 team parlay --- Pitt -9 (-105) & pats -1 --- 1 unit
2 team parlay 1st half --- Pitt -4.5 (-120) & pats -.5 --- 1 unit
2 team parlay --- pitt -9 (-105) & pats -.5 1st half --- 1 unit
2 team parlay --- pitt -4.5 (-120) 1st half & pats -1 --- 1 unit
5 team parlay --- pitt -9 & philly -8, & philly over 48, pats -1, pats under 52.5 --- 1 unit
5 TEAM PARLAY 1ST HALF --- pitt -4.5, philly -4.5 (-130), philly over 24, pats -.5, pats under 26 --- 1 unit

Futures bet from week 11 --- pitt to win SB +450 --- 4 units to win 18 units
Playoff futures --
Pitt to win SB +220 --- 5 units to win 11 units
Pats to win SB +300 --- 5 units to win 15 units
Preseason Futures;
Vikes to win SB +2000 --- 2 units to win 40 units
Jets to win AFC +1800 --- 1 unit to win 18 units
Made 2 fairly long shot preseason futures bets, both made it to the final 8 teams, not to shabby, but the train ride ends this weekend, not likly either team will win. Would look to bet against both but would have to bet the moneyline and it`s just to big, so will hope to get lucky and get 1 team to next week, then we`ll see.
Will have my suprise teams for next season after the championship games

For the record, has there ever been a team that featured a hot quartback, but a weak defense that won the Super Bowl?
Maybe the Rams a few years back, but their defense wasn't too bad in their first Super Bowl.
By Fooledagain1 on Sunday, January 16, 2005 - 09:39 am: Edit |
The worst defense to win the SB since 1978, year 16 game shcedule started, was Skins in strike year of 1987, 345 yds per game, colts give up 370, which is 29th in a 32 team league.
The Rams gave up 294, 1 of the better defenses in the league.
And yes , i got hammered !!!
