Well, Max, when the immortal Richard Todd and Ken O'Brien are vying for the best QB in team history in the last 30 years, I think it's fair to say that Jets QB's have sucked MIGHTY hard.
Namath is ancient friggn' history, but since you brought it up, he was a healthier Jim McMahon playing in New York. That this punches your ticket to the HOF shows how lame such selections can be. The guy was often an interception machine who had 2-3 excellent years. ALL NEW YORK HYPE.

The Washington Redskins, the biggest fraud in the NFL, are about to be exposed in Denver. Washington has only scored 4 touchdowns this season and two were long bombs to Santana Moss in the final 2 minutes of the Dallas game. Denver is far more talented and playing well as a team. Hell, even Jake Plummer is looking like a real QB and not the interception king. I'm all over Denver -7

RIDE THE SKINS BABY !!!!!
Skins have won 3 straight while losing the turnover battle in all 3, don't be surprised if that reverses itself real soon and the skins win by largher margins.

Very impressed tonight with both Brees and Roethlisberger's mobility and ability to avoid the rush. They're not putting up masive passing stats, but watching bozos like David Carr and guys like the clowns half the teams the rest of the NFL are running out there lately, it's no wonder these teams win most weeks. Good game too, despite being low scoring. I think the Chargers got a gift from the refs on the muffed punt.

This year's "tuck rule" but with far lesser stakes.
According to the strict interpretation of the rule it was the correct call, but the rule sucks.

I am a die hard Chargers fan and i have to say Steelers just dominated the line of scrimmage, crowd was again loud but way too many steelers fans maybe 7,000. My chargers fought hard but why was Merriman not playing? My team needs one to two cornerbacks. Big Ben played real well and looks like the real deal but he got hurt in last min. Too many missed opportunities. F. depressed, looking like another wild card season. Looks like more and more will die unfulfilled fan.
By Blazers on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 - 11:07 am: Edit |
I always wanted to know what is what like to go to a Steeler home game and now I know. There were at least 20,000 Steeler fans there and another 20,000 tailgating in the parking lot. Huge sections in the parking lot of nothing but Steeler Nation. It was incredibly fun. I was scared shitless seeing Big Ben's knee bend back but it wasnt a tear(whew!) I sat four rows up from the front of the North End Zone and could see all the plays develop....it was fun to watch. I honestly think the Chargers season is done and they wont make the playoffs. They will likely lose the next two games at Oakland and at Philly but they could split. They have a brutal road schedule the rest of the season which includes road games at Indy and KC. I think they will be lucky to be 9-7 which wont wint them the division and either the Bengals or Steelers will get one of the wild card spots. Its fun to watch 2 coaches who do poorly in big games go at each other but Schottenheimer does poorly in regular season and post season big games whereas Cowher waits until the big post season games to choke.
By Porker on Sunday, October 16, 2005 - 09:00 pm: Edit |
Cowher has to answer for leaving Maddox in there when he nearly threw a half dozen MORE picks before the last one in OT to finally put the nail in their coffin.
Weird day in the NFL, but could say that pretty much every week.

A nice opprtunity seems to be had on the Colts-3.5 on Monday night. A lot of people disagree and say take the defending Superbowl champs as a rare home dawg. Apparantly they have covered a high percentage of those. BS. New England is average and really struggled against Buffalo. I focus on how a team is playing right now and not how a team has played in years prior. I'll take my chances with the Colts offense and defense that is playing much better this year.

Wow! Terrel Owens suspended indefinately for comments he made againt McNabb. I will now be betting the Redskins. With him, I would have bet the Eagles. Terrel needs to go to the Raiders where all the headcases end up like Randy Moss.

Can't do any worse with them than you've been doing already. Your ineptitude is rather legendary.

fooledagain pick who ? what site u reading ? btw, next week i`ll have my surprise team for 2cd half of season. these guys really sucked 1st half but look for a huge turnaround 2cd half.
would agree with due, colts should roll.

Oops, I shoulda known better and read twice before popping off. Sorry to accuse you of picking a team that didn't SUCK.
By Due_diligence on Sunday, November 06, 2005 - 12:17 am: Edit |
Maybe fooledagain does well in the playoffs because there are no more bad teams to bet. Porker's advice on not betting bad teams to somehow surprise against the number is very good advice. I've been around a lot of sports gamblers who have tried this and they always seem to lose. IMO, what keeps them going is they feel like geniuses when they actually win. There are just too many losses for this strategy to work. I'm not saying i've cracked the sports betting code either, but I keep most my bets in the 10 dollar range.
By Fooledagain1 on Sunday, November 06, 2005 - 05:27 am: Edit |
The problem with betting the better teams is by the time u figure out who`s the better teams the spreads get adjusted and u lay to many points and it`s to tough to cover.
Some of the precieved better teams will fade 2cd half , watch.
I`ll try and pick which teams will fade and which will surprise 2cd half.
That`s why the playoffs are easier, when u see the entire season u know which teams didn`t fade, which teams played the most consistent,u see the teams who`ve dominated over 16 games, just ride these teams to easy wins.
By Explorer8939 on Sunday, November 06, 2005 - 06:40 am: Edit |
Or, in a short number of games, there is a greater possible statistic variation, so some people do really well and beat the odds, and others do not. When betting on the entire season, there is a greater tendency for outcomes to match statistical norms (ie everyone over the long haul breaks even, minus the vigorish).
For example, if you bet 1000 times on calling heads or tails flipping a coin, you will probably end up near .500. If you only flip 4 times, you have a better possibility of not ending up at .500.

Looking forward to the Colts going off on the depleted Pats' D tonight. Of course I was looking forward to the same thing in last year's playoffs, and we all know what happened there. If Edgerrin fumbles aGAIN tonight they out to bench his overrated ass and let the scrubs put up the same numbers at 1/10 the price for the rest of the year. Edgerrin post-injury is the most overrated NFL player I've ever seen.

For what it is worth, I love Denver to cover the 3 points against Oakland. Denver's runnung game will give Oakland fits. Tatum Bell and Mike Anderson each had over 100 yards of total offense in the last game. Keep the ball on the ground and tire the Oakland defense out. Close first half but Denver pulls away in the second. I increased my bet up to a whopping 55 bucks so I hope I am right.
By Porker on Monday, November 14, 2005 - 09:24 pm: Edit |
"Doughboy McFlabb" as DM calls him snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. Ought to suspend HIS ass and give T.O. the keys to the kingdom!
Can't remember a worse play by a QB in that situation to totally f*ck his team like that. Drew Brees made a similar play against Denver this year, but that was in the 3rd quarter. Philly had that game in the pocket. Incompetent, and all the announcers could talk about was 'poor McNabb's gimpy'.
Oh, and he got STEAMROLLED trying to impede progress on the return for a TD! Served him right!

Actually Porker, Tommy Maddux threw three pics and fumbled twice against Jacksonville...3 turnovers in the red zone. To cap it off, he threw an interception in overtime that was ran back for a TD and Jacksonville wins. If Rothlesberger is playing that game, Pitt is 8-1 and vying for home field. Now they have to win in Indy on Monday night to make that happen or hope for an Indy blunder on the road...not likely to happen.
By Due_diligence on Sunday, November 27, 2005 - 09:04 am: Edit |
IMO, the Bolts-3.5 should cover against the Skins.
By Porker on Monday, November 28, 2005 - 06:38 pm: Edit |
Seahawks and Chargers only obstacles left to keep Indy from 16-0. Colts make those teams look average at best. Will be fun to watch, in any event. As it will be fun to watch all the AFC teams being THEIR bitch now with home field throughout and the Super Bowl in a dome.
By Porker on Monday, November 28, 2005 - 06:59 pm: Edit |
Of course as soon as I post that, the Steelers wake up! I still gotta believe that Manning throws the bomb at will tonight against lousy Pitt corners and a frontline that won't hit Manning all night.

winning three bowls is a pedigree... They were bound for a let down this year as I predicted.
Indy looks like a lock and I must admit, it's hard NOT to enjoy watching them play. They go for the jugular with precision. I love the opening call yesterday and the D is tough enough. If there is one team I would like to beat 'em (besides the pats) it's SD. LT is da man. Now marty, keep giving him the damn ball.
Run, run, screen, run, deep pass, run, screen, run, run, mid pass, and repeat. How hard it that?
By Blazers on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 - 04:13 pm: Edit |
With a healthy Rothlesberger throughout the season..Pitt is 9-2. Maddox lost two games in OT that would have DEFINATELY been wins had Rothlesberger or evan Batch started. Indy has been fortunate to have zero injuries to any major players this year and players like Kato June and Bob Sanders have turned out to be steals.
I agree with Porker about Pitt's corners to a certain extent but I would say they are middle of the road rather than bad. Pitt has the best safety tandem in the league right now but they are more tacklers and zone coverage players than man to man(as safety's should be). Bottom line is that Indy is 10 times better than anyone else and Pitt played them tough at times.
Now for you SD fans out there. If you think Manning torched the Pitt corners wait till he goes against the WORST defensive backfield in the NFL(Chargers). Remember, Pitt beat the Chargers IN SAN DIEGO so Pitt with a healthy Rothlesberger is a better team than SD..they proved it. I think the only way a team will beat Indy is if Manning gets injured during the game or a fluke game with special teams TD's and fumble recoveries(ie, New England in Pitt the first time around)
By Don Marco on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 - 04:35 pm: Edit |
Denver and perhaps SD are the only hope. Parcell's and Drew are making me proud, but their D is nowhere up to the task.
Blazers-- Rothlesb. ain't going to beat manning in his wettest of dreams. The only way Pitt can take ANYONE on is if their D can make some stops. They showed yesterday their D is a decent practice squad, but that's it.

Gonna be the Colt's offense VS Da Bear's defense in the big game . Mark my words . I read it in some book by a dude named Nostradamus !!
By Porker on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 - 07:54 pm: Edit |
San Diego and Dallas are very similar teams, IMO, clearly GOOD and capable of beating pretty much any one on any given day, but waaay too inconsistent and can find ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, like they lack leadership and confidence at all the wrong times. San Diego's schedule this year is simply BRUTAL, and they may actually be a longshot to make the playoffs due to the strength of the AFC West.
Pittsburgh without Roethlisberger is a joke, as any team losing to BALTIMORE (without Ray Lewis and Ed Reed) should be labeled. If they didn't have the world's easiest schedule the last three games they'd probably be toast in the playoff race too. Cincinnati should run a train on their ass this week and are clearly the better team right now.
KM, the Bears haven't beaten anyone worth a crap, but that may not matter in the severely pedestrian NFC. Their defense should keep them in any game in that conference, but re: Super Bowl, it's hard to see them winning two straight playoff games with that pop gun offense.
By Khun_mor on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 - 08:51 pm: Edit |
Pork my man
Many had the Panthers picked to win the NFC and Da Bears wiped them all over the field !
If Da Bears would only wise up and run more - especially with Adrian Peterson who is way underused and very effective every time they do play him - the offense would be much more effective. Then they have Cedric Benson who should be back in time for the playoffs and was quite impressive in the brief time he played before his injury. Do not count them out yet !! **

KM, you are overestimating the value of beating an NFC "playoff" team. The NFC is a joke, and it's not like their top teams are any good. The good news is that it won't take much to get to the Super Bowl, and for ANY NFC team they'll just be happy to be there to take their ass whoopin'.
And if the Bears ran any more they'd have to use the wishbone! They know throwing the ball is futile, but damn it, those third downs keep on coming!
By Blazers on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 - 10:00 pm: Edit |
Didnt say Pitt would beat Indy...thats obvious but they are BETTER than the Chargers...they beat them already IN SAN DIEGO...no excuses. Chargers have the worst defensive backfield in football so I think them beating Indy is a pipedream.
I still think the Bears are pretenders and have had some fortune go their way this year...cant win with a crappy QB. I still see Carolina winning it in the end if Delhomme stays healthy

"San Diego and Dallas are very similar teams, IMO, clearly GOOD and capable of beating pretty much any one on any given day, but waaay too inconsistent and can find ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, like they lack leadership and confidence at all the wrong times. "
Very well said. As you know, I like both teams quite a bit from a player, coaching, and type-of-play standpoint (well I think P should be running J Jones a LOT more), BUT your absolutely right-- they both are missing SOMETHING that ups their game to prime time. They both squander way too many games and make some poor choices.
"I still think the Bears are pretenders and have had some fortune go their way this year..."
I can not agree with pretenders. The bears D is good enough to keep their pathetic offense in games as long as they don't turn the ball over. Do I think they stand a chance at winning it all-- NO, but they are a good underdog for the NFC which is chock full of average teams.
"Pats finally fade"
Hrmm aren't they still in first place in their division? The fat lady is warming up, but they WILL up their game in prime time and give it their best.

Dear Patriots,
There's way too many heads hanging low around your locker room. Your not nearly playing well enough to this point, BUT your in first place. I want each an every one of you to look in the mirorr and see a champion, as each and every one of you represent the NE Patriots, World Champions.
Two things need to happen, start playing like champions. On offense, attack, attack, and attack. On defense, very simple -- knock the SNOT outa each and every opponent. If they win, great, but they should go home bruised and battered as should you!
Your all professional atheletes, so I don't give a shit who is hurt and who is not... Preparation and determination WIN. I'll leave the broken thumb excuses for other people and teams... Now get your ass out there and beat the fuck outa those Bills!
Join hands... uuurahhh. amen.
By Porker on Thursday, December 08, 2005 - 01:58 pm: Edit |
What exactly will 'beating the fuck' over the shitty ass Bills prove? Teams that wanna make the playoffs are supposed to do stuff like that.
BTW, the Patriots sure are playing worse since Bruschi came back. Coincidence?
By Don Marco on Thursday, December 08, 2005 - 02:04 pm: Edit |
Porker, champtions don't take weeks off even if they happen to be playing a weak team... They need to have the mindset of going out and proving themself each and every down, every week.
As for Bruschi-- IMHO they are playing like a .500 team and make no bones about it. I'm looking to the players to pick it up greatly and hense my speach recommendation to bellowing bellachick.

The fact the Pats are only 4 point favorites against a team that was pitiful to start with and now has turmoil in the locker room with the suspension of Eric Moulds says it all about how far they have fallen this year. I hope they do just what you want them to do as they are keying all my parlays this week.
