Reread what I just wrote. I said "when" they get loaded with talent...they dont have it now...some great players yes but nowhere near the most talented team in the NFL.

In terms of SB futures, here are the 5 favorites in order:
Indy (13:2)
Patriots (8:1)
Broncos (10:1)
Pitt (10:1)
Seattle (10:1)
Cowbows (12:1) (honorable mention).
I love to entertain the notion of a Dallas vs. NE SB NOw that would be FUNNNNNN

Roethlisberger said. "I was confident in my ability to ride a motorcycle and simply believed such an accident would not happen to me."
Translation, I'm a rookie on a bike and a stat waiting to happen.
Glad he's ok and the accident knocked some common sense into him.

Agreed
Any experienced biker knows he is always vulnerable to auto driver's errors if nothing else. Even Evil friggin Kneivel could have been a freeway frisbee at any time if a careless motorist cut him off on some highway.
I've only had one accident , but many close calls with drivers who do not seem to be able to see a vehicle with only 2 wheels.

I've had two over the course of 23 years riding on the road. Knock on wood, my last one was 13 years ago -- both of which were caused by a moron in a car.

Week 1 pick, off the top of my head: Cincinnati laying -1.5 over the KC Chefs. We'll see if Larry Johnson can shove 2bills up the Bengals ass when it's not a meaningless game at the end of the year and without Vermeil/Saunders and half last year's O-line.

Jets playing better than expected and had a legit chance to beat the strong ColtsC. Jets can legitimately win 10 games plus.
World Champions are not playing well at all.
Jax game on MNF was pathetic.

On the other hand my Bears are looking pretty decent. Just dismantled a fairly hot Buffalo team.
3 home wins by a combined total of 111 - 20. Not too shabby.
Next three games should be walkovers so looking at 8-0 at halfway point.
By Porker on Sunday, October 29, 2006 - 06:47 pm: Edit |
This calling timeout a millisecond before field goal attempts is becoming very annoying and interferes with the game. Don't know why the fucking refs let the coaches get away with that bullshit when they're obviously playing games like that. Just say NOPE, TOO LATE to the timeout... Dallas actually caught a break this week as the IDIOT LIQUORED UP kicker missed, but last week, almost cost Atlanta a game.
By Don Marco on Sunday, November 05, 2006 - 02:57 pm: Edit |
hey KM, what were you saying about the fish a few weeks ago? They apparently didn't need Dan Marino today
By Khun_mor on Sunday, November 05, 2006 - 05:21 pm: Edit |
No -- all they needed were the Bears. The Dolphins did not even have to play very well for the win. The Bears handed them 28 points. Hard to overcome that, unless you're playing the Cardinals.
Grossman was horrible - back to preseason form.
Lookin forward to the imminent Pats - Ponies contest.

I can't believe the Colts had such a struggle but at least they beat the PAts.
By Porker on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 02:44 pm: Edit |
The Colts 'struggled'? Never even came close to trailing in the game. How many times did they punt in the game, once? 'Struggling' is what Tampa Bay usually does.
By Porker on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 03:13 pm: Edit |
BTW, Indy was a 3 point underdog Sunday night...
By Maximus743 on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 03:55 pm: Edit |
You are right. Wrong choice of words. I should have said I disagreed with the spread and was looking for Indy to win by a wider margin. The result is all that matters which is that the Colts won and the Pats lost.
By Blazers on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 04:24 pm: Edit |
Can you imagine how many more rings Brady could have with Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison. On second thought, he doesn't need it. Guarantee you he will watch the film from that Indy game more than nerds watch Star Wars and he will come back to the post season with a vengeance. Manning always wins and kicks ass during the regular season but put him in a stressful situation during the playoffs and make him get out of his comfortable box.....the result is always happy feet and throwing off of his back foot. He is a one dimensional pocket QB that struggles once out of the pocket. If a team like NE or San Diego plays the Colts in the playoffs, Manning chokes again.
By Don Marco on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 05:30 pm: Edit |
Blazers-- Normally I would concur with that post, but I tihnk the key to Manning choking is heavy doses of pressure. That is a really big prob with the pats-- they aren't getting any. The motley crew of db's they muster up does fine as witenessed a couple years ago when their front 7 get heavy pressure, then the last year or so we've seen their db's struggle as they've lost rusher after rusher.
I've liked SD the last few years primarily due to some very nice offensive weapons, but they still have MARTY. Manning may be a choker, but I'll take manning over marty playoff time any day.
BTW, Brady will get 2 more rings before he's done. Hopefully the front office stupidity the pats have shown the last two years comes to an end tho.
By Porker on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 08:09 pm: Edit |
Manning had a mild case of happy feet Sunday night under rather mild Patriots pressure, and still kicked ass all over the place. Saw some comment on NFL network where "they blitzed more than they thought they would, and it didn't faze us".
Re: regular season vs. the playoffs: It's SOOOO fucking rare when Manning faces ANY kind of pressure during the regular season. Only game I remember seeing any the last year and a half was one Jacksonville game last year. But in the playoffs over the years, New England and Pittsburgh have found ways to knock him on his ass. Don't see that happening this year, though, until the Giants, Bears or Seahawks see them in the BIG game. If the Colts somehow end up playing Atlanta or Philly (or somebody even worse than THAT), they'll win by double digits.
BTW, Manning is just HOT right now. They could play the NE and Denver games again 100 times when he's NOT, and the Colts would be hard-pressed to win half of them. IMO playing in the Dome this year will make getting to the Super Bowl an easy task no matter who they play.
Interesting bringing up the Chargers, though. THAT might be the ultimate game of strengths vs. weaknesses in the NFL right now. But my guess is the Colts kick their ass 40 ways from Sunday, wherever the game might be played, and it's not just the "Marty" factor. Chargers choke at EVERY opportunity, and don't see that changing any time soon.

You know, I usually like getting into these NFL debates. But, seeing as I'm a Steelers fan, I think I'm going to be mighty quiet this year. I'm sure Blazers feels my pain...

Surprise ending again for Indy Colts supporters. They must have been bras in a former life. When the Patriots and Colts meet again, it will be 'back to the future'. Patriots win easliy. Read 'em and weep.

ANOTHER ridiculous timeout granted on a FG attempt in the NE-Chicago game... Gostkowskit nailed both, but being GRANTED timeouts like that as the ball is being snapped is complete bullshit. I have seen this at least twice today, and at least a half-dozen times in the last month. Fuck THAT!
By Khun_mor on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 03:12 pm: Edit |
Why should there be a rule on when you can call timeout ?? If the ball is not in play you can call timeout - period. I see no need to start making more silly rules. Get over it.
By Porker on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 03:20 pm: Edit |
The refs have discretion. If the ball gets snapped when "time's out", somebody's fucking things up. KM, don't be bitter that you're up against the 4th-5th best team in the superior conference, and you're getting your ass kicked. Can't play the mighty PACKERS and LIONS every week, di ba?
By Khun_mor on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 04:02 pm: Edit |
I'm not playing anybody.
This has nothing to do with what team calls the timeout. The rule should be simple . If the ball is not yet in play a timeout can be called. Anything else would be ridiculous.
Discretion ?? So you mean if there is one second left on the play clock the quarterback should not be able to call a timeout to prevent a penalty?
Using "discretion" how much time should be left on the clock to allow a Porker approved timeout?
By Porker on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 04:07 pm: Edit |
The other team has plenty of time to get the timeout called without affecting the timing of a play. If the defensive team is clearly playing games with the officials as the ball is about to be snapped, just don't blow the whistle. What's so complicated about that? The difference between offense calling a timeout and defense is easy to distinguish.
By Don Marco on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 04:32 pm: Edit |
well what a sloppy game. At least the better team won-- PHEW!
A couple things:
1. based on some of those bordeline calls, it sure looked like the refs tried to keep it a close game...
2. poor old rex. People are riding him aweful hard for a young QB.
3. shame on the announcers at the beginning. When rex was having trouble completing passes, it was a "tough" patriots defensive, when he was moving the ball with ease, he was exploiting a depleted secondary... I ain't a huge rex fan, but at least be consistent...
4. this was a weird game start to finish-- I'm thankful it ended well.
By Khun_mor on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 05:12 pm: Edit |
Very strange game. If played in Soldiers Field I believe the W would have gone the other way.
Rex is a total schizo at QB, but as you point out he is young and has precious little game experience. If I recall Peyton Manning did not look like a sure winner his first couple of years . Takes time to mature. Phillip Rivers seem to be coming back to reality as well.
What has happened to Big Ben and the Stellers ??
Now that WAS an ass kicking .
By Porker on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 05:30 pm: Edit |
Rex has more experience (and same pension stats) as Tony Romo (the guy that's gonna eat his lunch in the playoffs). Re: announcers, Aikman's got about 4 yards on Michael THE CRACKHEAD Irvin does as a talking head on ESPN. And Emmitt went ballroom dancing... With Jimmy Johnson doing the world's most annoying beer commercials, would be tough to say what the lowest of lows is among the Cowboys of a decade ago would be.
Oh, and btw, the NFC blows. Any team lucky enough to make it to the stupor bowl will get absolutely DISEMBOWLED in that game!

I seem to remember a BUNCH of pundits saying the same thing about the NL as compared to the AL prior to the World Series and look how that turned out!
You know all the cliches:

Pats 32 Jets 13
DM You give the Jets too much credit.
Hey Porker -- How do you like Tony Lamo now ? He fumbled and threw away 4 out of the last 5 games of the year including the big one today . Guess a first year QB is still a first year QB whether his name is Rex or Tony . Phillip has come back to earth recently as well. If he did not have LT to carry him Rivers would not look half as shiny as he did.
By Don Marco on Sunday, January 07, 2007 - 01:25 am: Edit |
KM, the pats usually find a way to keep things fairly close on the board... even if the game isn't ;)

Pats have the best road scoring defense in the NFL and the best QB in the NFL....I would not be shocked to see a lot of pissed off San Diego fans next week after the game. I will be there but only because I got comped tickets. I want San DIego city to finally win a title in something but I wouldnt bet against New England in this game.
By Don Marco on Sunday, January 07, 2007 - 02:14 pm: Edit |

The Igles were lucky to just barely beat a pathetic Giants team --at home ! Their wings are clipped and the season is done in the Superdome next week I'm afraid .
Garciamania has run it's course. Unless Westbrook can run for 400 yards and get 4 TD's Y'all might as well pack your bags.

yes, BUT which saint's team will show up? the eagles are at least fairly consistent. I think it is a great match up, better than any this past weekend.
As for the AFC, if the colts D can at least play reasonably well, they are my pick odds wise. Then again, that's a big IF. If the pats can get by SD next week and balt wins, guess what-- it's another pats SB win.
By Khun_mor on Sunday, January 07, 2007 - 10:25 pm: Edit |

That's a strange analysis. IMO The Aint's has been the most consistent team in the NFC this year. The Eagles looked VERY beatable this week.
I can't believe Da Bears are laying 8 and a half points against anyone- even the beat up sorry Seahawks. Talk about inconsistent - which Bears team will show up ??
By Fooledagain1 on Monday, January 08, 2007 - 06:21 am: Edit |
Chargers will roll the Pats BIGTIME this weekend,by 17pts and you can take that to the bank !!!!!!!!!!!
By Porker on Monday, January 08, 2007 - 08:02 am: Edit |
I don't remember being on any Tony Romo bandwagon, but last time I checked, he didn't play defense either. He almost turned a blwon FG hold into a playoff-game-winning first-down/TD and certainly has nothing to be embarrassed about.
I'd love to see SD-Indy, even though SD would lkely be heavily favored.
Tom Brady best QB in the NFL? Blazers been blazing too much.
