Ben, I'm not ripped. I'm short, fat, and bald. I also have 6 fingers on each hand an a 2" penis.
Ootie, you are right that it can ruin a season. I had high hopes for improvement this year, and from what I saw in game 1 those hopes were dashed.
Quincy can't hit the side of a barn with some of his passes. Maybe it's time to put Hutchinson in , let him take his lumps, and see what next year brings.
Losing to a fucking expansion team ... unbelievable. At least it's almost Yankee season.

Super,
We all know you are "ripped". Don't know try to be humble. If I had your body and my brains, I would never have to pay for pussy.
When I am "ripped" everyone thinks of a drunken old fool. When you are ripped everyone thinks of a golden Adonis.
You just need a good PR man to help with your image on this board. I think Dogster could help you in that department.
Man, I told you so about Dallas.
Dave Campo just will not do the job, and unless Jerry Jones is fucking his 18 year old daughter( I mean Dave Campo's), he ought to fire his ass and hire someone who knows how to be a head coach.
I predict Bob Stoops will go to the pros within a couple of years and Dallas could be his next job.
By Superman on Monday, September 09, 2002 - 07:20 pm: Edit |
No, I really am short, fat, and bald. Seriously. It's time I came clean. I'm like 200 pounds right now, plus I have a 1 inch "outie" for a belly button. It's nasty looking.
Campo needs to go. Stoops would be a good choice for a replacement, but I'm wary of Oklahoma coaches after Switzer.
The teams big problem is Quincy. If they even had a middle of the road QB, someone like Doug Flutie, Rodney Peete, or Steve Beurlein, they would have had a winning record last year and this year too.
Now they lost Nguyen for 6-8 weeks with a broken hand. I thought it could not get any worse.

Superman, What was wrong with Switzer? He knew how to win football games I think I saw him in the zona last week.
Yeah those Pats. and Belichck just continue to be lucky.
I wish the Cowboys could get lucky.
By Superman on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 - 05:55 pm: Edit |
That was no fluke last night. The Patriots dominated. Good call, Ootie.
Switzer was a joke. Gailey was a joke. Campo is a joke. Jerry is a joke.
The problem for Dallas is they will never get a big time coach, because Jerry's ego can't handle it. You know a guy has a serious ego problem when he gets a complete face reconstruction as a senior citizen.

NOW JUST A MINUTE SUPERMAN,
So the face lift wasn't very sucessful. He still is a very rich and a smart guy. He will come to his senses and fire Dave Campo and then after a year of him coaching, he will either sell the team or hire Bob Stoops at 5 mil a year to make them a success. In other words, it is going to be a few years before the boys see the Super Bowl.
More important in my life is I am going to Ensenada tomorrow with a hot little 18 year old(just the kind you like) and may be stuck there all night if they close the border.
By Ben on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 07:06 am: Edit |
Milky,
Chargers get a free ride next week with the Texans, but until they start playing the tough guys, I don't think I would give them consideration as divisional champs.
By Erip on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 09:45 am: Edit |
The Patriots are for real and as much as a contender as any team in the MFL (Mediocre Football League). Considering the lack of acceptance and disrespect they've endured all off-season long, there could have been no different outcome that what we saw Monday night. The Pats were the all time absolute mortal lock in that game. They had to be at least as motivated as they were on Super Sunday. That said, I expect the Jets to bring them back down to earth this week...that is assuming that Curtis Martin is healthy and able to give them some kind of running attack.
By Athos on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 11:16 am: Edit |
This week looks tricky, tease the dogs except the Chargers as Texans won't cross midfield till end of 3rd quarter.
Best player I saw last weekend none other than Michael Vick, Chargers got barely anything for him (Tay Cody who is too small to play in NFL, Rachel Cadwell good potential but no superstar, Tim Dwight avg wr, LT looking strong last weekend).
I don't understand Chargers give Tim Dwight 15M while Patriots get one of the best wr Donald Hayes for 1/2 the cost making them SB contenders.
I just hate to bet against Manning or Favre.
By Hombrecito1 on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 01:57 pm: Edit |
Athos,
I agree on Vick. He's the most athletic and one of the fastest in the NFL now. Still needs to learn to put touch on passes and more consistency there, but I was impressed with his presence in the pocket. He could be a truly great one.

Bullet Bob Hayes died today. Sad ... sadder is the fact he's not in the Hall of Fame. He completely changed the way the NFL plays defense. Thank him for zones and nickel backs ...

I never saw the Bullet play but man does he look fast in these highlight.
I also read he may have run the fastest relay ever clocked at 8.6 sec in Tokyo Olympics in 64.
I agree it's complete BS the man is not in the Hall of Fame while I have seen some questionable ones being inducted.
By Ben on Friday, September 20, 2002 - 09:32 am: Edit |
I was a hugh fan of Bob Hayes. I saw him several times when Dalls played their games at the Cotton Bowl(I think).
Meridith was a good QB, but Hayes made him so much better.
Hayes was one of the first guys that I ever remember being double teamed. Other teams were always trying to come up with new defenses to try and stop him.
Hayes was fast, but also was tough. He could take a hit(unlike most track guys) and had great hands(unlike most track guys).
The guys thighs were gigantic. He had to have special tailored blue jeans and slacks, as he could not fit into standard pants.

Moss Jailed; Reportedly Out This Week
Moss was arrested Tuesday night during rush hour in downtown Minneapolis and is still being held in a Hennepin County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon of a traffic control agent, which is a felony. He has not been charged with anything and a hearing is expected to take place today.
The Vikes have yet to officially comment, but KFAN-Radio in Minneapolis is reporting that he will not be available for the game in Seattle this Sunday.
According to the police complaint, the incident took place at 5:22 PM Tuesday. Moss attempted to turn right onto Marquette Ave. in Minneapolis from a lane whose traffic was supposed to keep going straight. When traffic control agent, Amy Elizabeth Zaccardi, ordered him to stop, he ignored her and gradually continued. Witnesses then say Zaccardi turned and sat on the hood of Moss' vehicle and he slowly proceeded for about half a block before stopping. Zaccardi fell to the street and sustained very minor injuries.
Minneapolis police were on the scene almost immediately and Moss did not resist arrest. "He is going to be treated no different than anybody else as far as the Minneapolis Police Department is concerned," spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
We'll learn more today on this case and will keep you informed on the latest developments. But for now, fantasy players should begin making contingency plans to be without him this weekend.
Derrick Alexander will take Moss' place in the lineup and makes a serviceable plug-in player. He may be available in many leagues due to his slow start and third-receiver status.

I don't know how you guys make money betting on the unpredictable NFL. Rams 0-4, Chargers 4-0? Crazy. Raiders undefeated too, but too bad they will wear out before the end of the season. They are just too old. Damn if Jerry Rice is not still the best wide receiver in the game though. What an amazing athlete, and a fellow monger to boot!

Rice is incomparable. It seems like 100 years ago that he was the '89 super bowl MVP. It blows me away that he is still playing. I got the opportunity to meet him a couple times, when I was living in the bay area, and saw him various times at spots around town.
One time I happened to see him in the Fairmont Hotel elevator and it was hilarious. The dude was nothing if not obsessive. He was worried if he had remembered to lock his car. He kept checking his wallet and looking at his keys. He was immaculately dressed. He and his woman were headed to dinner, apparently. She was trying to keep him on track to get to the restaurant, and she seemed kind've frustrated. In the end, he decided that he wasn't ready to go to dinner because he needed to take a shower. As my date and I stepped off the elevator at the top of the hotel (along with everyone except those two), Rice's woman looked at us with an exasperated look, and said, "He's already taken 3 showers at least today."

Super,
Most of us don't make money betting on games, but the $20 a week or in this week no money bet just doesn't seem to be that big a deal.

I see defense doesn't mean a whole lot to you, Snapper.
Personally I don't see a game on the board for this week that screams HIT ME, but a tip I saw this week (and as much as I can't STAND the average tout bluster) is that Jeff Sagarin's NFL power rankings at USA Today are hitting at 66% over the last couple of weeks. Of course you need to bet the whole card to take advantage of that... Also, his method for college hoops can be quite lucrative as well.

Lions are very good at home, bet against only on the road at best. Joey Harrington is bery bery good. Next week is interesting as they go to Buffalo.
I can't even bet against Texans as they are pretty competitive.
I can't even bet against Bengals as they are coming off a bye.
I can't even bet on the Chargers as they have a bye.
Best bets take Eagles (McNabb) vs Giants (no Rushing game) on mnf, 49ers (following loss) vs Cards (no O and ok D), TB (following loss) vs Carolina (4 losses in a row) but no opening line as Car has no qb, Raiders (2 losses in a row) at Chiefs (no D) and Bills (bad D but who needs one in a shootout) vs Lions (yes I would take Beldsoe vs Harrington).
By Youngbrig on Monday, October 21, 2002 - 10:50 am: Edit |
Chicago ultimately will find themselves better off if they turn the ball over to Chandler...His pocket was collapsing the entire game and still, he really should have won this one against the Lions...If Miller QBs this game, the Bears lose by two touchdowns...
At 2-4, tho, this much seems clear: Juaron's "magic" touch was not reality...That playoff game in Chicago last year against the Eagles?-- that was reality...

true true, but they cant use the injuries as an excuse for their poor performance this year.. 2-4 is a joke even with the big man Ted Washington gone, RW mcquarter and holdman out as well...the offensive coordinator has to go, and the offensive line has to step it up....they still have to play the Eagles 49ers Rams, Pats, Packers, Miami and Tampa Bay, ...they will be lucky to go 6-10 this season, and yes, this is coming from a die head Chitown bears fan...

Yes, it's that time again, isn't it... Indy pick 'em seems too good to be true against a bad Redskins team. Unless Manning gets a pick returned for a TD (or TWO) the Colts O is a big cut above the QB rotisserie in Spurrierland.
Snapper, the O/U on the KC/Raider game looks like the PROPER way to take advantage of a bad defense, and a # in the 50's tends to get bid up even higher. Looks juicy to me too, as well as the Raiders to win by the FG.
I'd say the Jets/Cleve gotta go over 41.5 too?
And as someone else wrote this week: Emmitt'sgonna break the record today even if he needs 91 CARRIES to do it.
By Porker on Sunday, October 27, 2002 - 08:18 am: Edit |
Jim Brown retired before I was born, but is there ANYBODY who ever saw them both play that thinks Emmitt's fit to carry Brown's lunchbox? Personally I'd rather have Eric Dickerson in his prime. Is Emmitt just the Don Sutton of the NFL?
By Porker on Sunday, October 27, 2002 - 09:34 am: Edit |
BTW, is Tommy Maddox the real life NFL version of 'the Natural'?
By Superman on Sunday, October 27, 2002 - 12:19 pm: Edit |
Emmitt is one of the top 4 greatest running backs of all time, no matter how you look at it. Order them any way you want, but they are Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, and Jim Brown. Nobody else is even in the argument. You can only include guys like Eric Dickerson or Gale Sayers or Terrell Davis if you say "greatest running back over a particular 3 or 4 year period." The "Greatest of All Time" is reserved for only 4.
Jim Brown ran against 210 pound defensive lineman and 180 pound linebackers. He was bigger than most of the DL's and LB's he was running against. I'm sure he would have blown over today's 290 pound DL's just as easily. Please! That's not to say he was not great, but that he would not have performed nearly as well today as he did then. Conversely, Emmitt, Payton, and Sanders would have all put up UNGODLY numbers had they played in Brown's era.
Sanders was by far the best pure runner. However, there is more to it than just running. Sanders was not a great receiver, blocker, or short yardage back. Payton and Emmitt were both excellent receivers, great blockers, and outstanding short yardage backs. There is also longevity and durability. Payton missed one game his entire career due to injury. Neither he nor Emmitt were ever seriously hurt. Additionally, in a league where the average career for a RB is 3 years, Emmitt has played an entire season's worth of extra games in the postseason.
Anyone judging what they see from Emmitt now is being unfair. Emmitt's prime was the early to mid 90's, and he was dominant back then. His AVERAGE season in the 5 years from 1991 to 1995 was 1,603 yards and 17 TD's. Average. Since then he's only averaging 1,205 per season ... pretty weak I guess ... better than the average of 80 percent of the starting RB's in the NFL, but come on. LOL.
Don Sutton? Emmitt has more regular season rushing TD's than anyone in history. More playoff TD's than anyone in history. An NFL record 11 straight 1,000 yard seasons, more postseason yards than anyone else in history, and, inevitably, more rushing yards than anyone in history.
