There is a significant difference between Edwards and Republicans like McCain and Gingrich. True all cheated on wives with cancer or gross disfigurements, but McCain and Gingrich went the extra step by then dumping their cancer-ridden or disfigured wives. Doesn't look like Edwards is going to go that far.

Don't you just love Republican family values?

By Catocony on Saturday, August 09, 2008 - 04:42 pm:  Edit

And on a semi-related note, after Bob Dole's wife put him back together, he dumped her for Libby - who coincidentally, was much better looking than his ex-wife.

Speaking of due diligence -- Whatever happened to him ?

Republicans far prefer the Greek lifestyle. McCain was one of the few that chased pussy rather than dick. He always was a maverick in the GOP (Gay Old Party).

I wonder who put Edwards' feet to the fire to force him to come out with this at this particular moment. Methinks it was a Dem, someone jockeying for the VP slot, even though I'd think Opie, oops, I mean Edwards, was aiming for a cabinet position.

Actually, this story apparently has dogged Edwards for a year or so, but broke in a bigger way after that esteemed repository of quality journalism, the National Enquirer, caught him at the Beverly Hilton visiting the woman he had (or is still having, depending on what you believe) an affair with.

The one favor Edwards did the Democrats was to admit what he had done a few weeks before the Democratic Convention. I suspect this was intentional because the last thing he or other Democrats would have wanted is for it to break big during the convention.

By Catocony on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 - 06:42 pm:  Edit

Plus it's August and during the Olympics, so more than likely this story will play itself out by Labor Day.

I'm in North Carolina almost every week and the radio stations in Raleigh have been commenting on the "love child" for well over a month.

By Beachman on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 - 08:54 am:  Edit

Edwards is right ...there are to Americas. One where sleazy trial lawyers can fly around with them their whore for months running for President paying her with with campaign contributions. Where is the outrage from the Democrats....how many of his campaign workers work for little or no money during his run while he was fucking around. The latest is that he again has lie about when he told his wife about the affair and they have video that proves she was still flying around on the campaign trail after he claims he had told his wife about the affair.

It is just a matter of time before someone in the press puts the time line that his wife coming out of the remission of the cancer to where it was diagnosed as terminal was caused by the stress of his affair and his lying to her.

By Catocony on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 - 11:26 am:  Edit

Yeah, because stress causes cancer to spread and become terminal. Is that what you're saying today? So basically, if you just sit around all day and do nothing, you won't get cancer because you won't be stressed? Wow, that's amazing.

Fucking moron.

I know this is hard to do, but please everyone ignore Beachman. By responding to him, you are actually doing what he wants. He wants to get a rise that's it. The worst penalty is just to ignore him. He craves attention and the worst thing we can do is to give it to him.

I get a good laugh out of Beachman's posts. Yeah, retarded posts can get annoying, but Beachman's posts go beyond this. They are so extremely retarded that in a strange sort of way they become entertainment. They are to political commentary what Masterbates' whale photos are to fashion photography. If we ostracize Beachman it would be a slippery slope indeed; is the next step going to be to ban Masterbates and his photos?

I say let's not try to scare away the Turk5555 of politics; those of us who were initially happy when Turk5555 departed have come to regret that he is no longer here spewing his own brand of nonsense. There are only so many village idiots to go around (although lately I've noticed an unfortunate exception to this maxim on CH), and we should consider ourselves blessed to still have one of them spewing inane garbage in our political threads.

Keep them coming Beachman!

That is what you liberals do...resort to name calling. Edwards is a sleaze and you still defended him. Branquino...Real Estate is just great....I have no worries....thanks for asking! I bet you you and Catocony wish you would had me working as a broker for you a couple of years. Maybe you too could be retired at 50 with no financial worries for the rest of your life!

Beachman,

I have no financial worries for the rest of my life. Thankfully I did not invest in FL real estate. But thanks for your concern.

And I'm pretty sure real estate in Florida is not great. I figure another 12 months of freefall before real estate is other than horrible. Once President Obama stops the literal and financial bleeding in Iraq, you may see things start to improve.

Where were you when senator Larry Craig (Republican) Idaho was caught with his pants down trying to suck dicks in the Minneapolis airport ?? Seems to me he was married also .

Must be that you and your redneck cousins/wives feel adultery is OK if you cheat with a man ??
I bet you've worn out your DVD of Deliverance.

Hah! And this from a guy who is obviously overdosing on Fox News! Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them a liberal, regardless of what your TV friends tell you.

But what has that got to do with a story on stress and cancer? I guess it just underlines your nonsensical ravings.

By Beachman on Friday, August 15, 2008 - 11:47 am:  Edit

Khun Mor-

Republican or Democrat it doesn't matter to cheat on your spouse is about the most despicable nothing you can do. I know there are a lot of married mongers here if your spouse is aware and you can cheat on her with her blessing than go with it. But don't be selfish and live a lie and possibly expose your spouse to diseases and the emotional trauma once exposed. I expect 100% of married mongers if they found out their spouse was cheating on them, much less paying for sex would be outrage.

I am not preaching morality here.....if you are single go for it.....but once you take that vow.....honor you word. If you can't keep that vow....let your spouse know. If you don't and can't well how can you be trusted with your word with anything or anybody else while you are living a lie.

That is one of the reasons I am not much of a McCain fan......but it was years ago and he admitted to his infidelity. As far as I know...he wasn't using campaign donations to pay his whore!

By Laguy on Friday, August 15, 2008 - 12:13 pm:  Edit

I never mix my politics, economics, religion, and my mongering but I am just shocked by what I watched on CNN. I knew I was out of touch with what's the real pulse of the US since I have been living abroad for a few years. But I didn't realize how out of touch I was until I came across the Saddleback Civil Forum on Presidency on CNN yesterday. Holy crap watching both McCain and Obama grovel in front of a bunch of Evangelical christians, and have it mainstream on a media outlet like CNN, is at the same time frightening, sad, and saps all my hope for the US to straighten its course.

It has become quite evident being back in the US of Shit for a few months that White Men are Third Class Citzens.

Asking for equal representation from the totalitarian Women/Minorites/Gay regime is villified as act of Terrorist Treason. In other words male needs are being dismissed as "silly" and "unnecissary" and when only "convient" and "advantagous" to Women/Minorities/Gay agenda; which now control the majority of wealth (through new legal mechinisms, divorce).

And on another note: who the FUCK thinks that ending poverty/ creating a worldwide global economy is GOOD idea. Wealth Distribution is a collegitate word for "losing your money". Americans bitch about the high price of commodities such as oil, and food which will only be strained further causing prices to increase with the more people that are brought into this "Worldwide" economy and bringin them "Out of Poverty".

Poverty will always exist as it just refers to the bottom of the food chain (those who have the least). Wait a second that us GUYS!

Almost everyone agrees the subprime lending is the major cause of the financial crisis!

The Democrats ignored the subprime crisis and defended Freddie and Fannie. The Republicans tried to address the problem and the the Democrats voted them down.

Now the Democrats want to give out more free money very well knowing it will never be re payed!

Stimulus plans do not work! Didn't the government give out money last year ($600) to stimulate the economy and look what happened.

By Branquinho on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 - 02:52 pm:  Edit

Keep wanking away.

Not all stimulus plans are the same. Only a dumbass like Bush would give people money to buy goods from China and think it would stimulate the economy. Infrastructure is a different matter. But you're too dull to see that one does not equal the other.

Sen. McCaskill certainly sent a message with her bill to cap pay and ban bonuses. Of course, when you hear $18billion in bonuses, people don't understand that most Wall Street types work for relatively less pay because of the bonuses. They're more deferred annual compensation than anything else. Then again, a lot get paid a huge sum of money for basically losing money, so fuck'em.

By I_am_sancho on Friday, January 30, 2009 - 09:04 pm:  Edit

I got a great bonus just this month but it was entirely contingent on the fact the company was profitable and we met and exceeded designated performance goals. That's how I always figured bonuses work for everyone. Profit plus exceeding performance goals equals bonus. The size of said bonus is proportional to how profitable the company was and how far you exceeded performance goals. It seems to me that if the company is going down the shithole and is down at the welfare office begging for handouts, those who work for the place wouldn't be getting a bonus that year. I know I wouldn't have gotten my bonus if the company was not doing well.

Blissman seems to have the real answer. I would argue his solution is an entirely proper free market response. I believe you could consider that a correction of market imbalances. Government should stand back and just let it happen.

Let's see....Obama has now pick two Cabinet appointees...Geithner and Daschle who are tax cheats. This is the change that Obama promised!

Looks like Democrats like to give tax breaks because they don't pay taxes themselves.

Why isn't Joe Biden calling these guys unpatriotic......they not only didn't pay there taxes.....now that they have been caught not paying they are looking for every loop-hole to pay as little as possible.

If Bush would have named Republican's to serve in his Cabinet who were caught not paying their taxes.....will would still be hearing about it.
