And Obama is a Nobel award winner and speaks well with a tele-promter...so what.....

By Laguy on Friday, January 29, 2010 - 10:07 pm:  Edit

So it looks like Beachman rejects everything in Joe Stiglitz's book, undoubtedly none of which he has read, on the basis he is a Nobel Prize winner.

Makes about as much sense as everything else Beachman has posted.

By Beachman on Saturday, January 30, 2010 - 12:00 am:  Edit

It may be the best and most fair book about the "Great Recession" out there......but being a Nobel Peace Prize winner these days has about a much credibility as being Oprah's "book of the the month".

How do you libs explain Scott Brown being elected to the "Kennedy Senate seat in Massachusetts " ....must be a bunch of stupid, uneducated voters there.....huh!

By Laguy on Saturday, January 30, 2010 - 12:08 am:  Edit

Coakley (sp?) was a terrible candidate and made a number of idiotic blunders;

Scott Brown ran a good campaign without major blunders;

People were upset because "socialist" Obama had cowtowed a bit too much to Wall Street;

The economy is still rather awful (and you would be kidding yourself if you thought this was solely, or even primarily, Obama's fault).

Not quite sure where the completely off-the-wall "stupid, uneducated voters" comment came from. Oh, I take that back from Beachman, of course.

So, we've determined that Beachman monitors the board regularly since he picked up on this thread being reactivated after several months. However, he never has anything to post elsewhere, just political stuff.

This confirms beyond a shadow of a doubt that Beachman is officially an NPGE - a Non Pussy-Getting Entity. He reads a monger board every day but has nothing to say about actually getting some pussy. But, plenty to say on politics.

I think many of you are giving way too much credit to the American voter.

I see an American voter like I'd see a drowning person. They attack ANYONE nearby.

Obama caused up to and including zero percent of the recession. If you'd like to criticize his handling of getting us out of it, that's where opinion starts. But all you GOP guys have only your boy to blame for taking a record surplus and turning it into a record deficit. Even then it took him 8 years to tear the house down. And boy did he...

"It may be the best and most fair book about the "Great Recession" out there......but being a Nobel Peace Prize winner these days has about a much credibility as being Oprah's "book of the the month"."

Sorry, my retarded friend, but Stiglitz won the Nobel Prize in Economics, not the Nobel Peace Prize.

By Bluestraveller on Saturday, January 30, 2010 - 06:40 pm:  Edit

The Nobel prizes began in 1901 in the following six fields, physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, economics and for peace. That was 109 years ago times 6 or 654 prizes in total.

What Beachman is saying is that because Obama won the peace prize in 2009 it discredits all the 653 previous peace prize laureates. Every single damn one of them. Sorry liberals, no exceptions. Obviously the Nobel Foundation is very wealthy foundation, and they should be grateful that Beachman has exposed the fallacy of over a century of work. This foundation should be closed and some compensation should be sent to Beachman.

I have to wonder how Beachman will handle his new found wealth.

>>So, we've determined that Beachman monitors the board regularly since he picked up on this thread being reactivated after several months. However, he never has anything to post elsewhere, just political stuff. <<

Cat, if only it were that simple. There is, regretably, another explanation. What I have observed is DG emerges from his hibernation to see whether he can wear out the word "socialist" by repeating over and over without any evidence or justification that our President is a socialist. Beachman comes out of his hole to support this nonsense. DG posts, Beachman supports; DG posts, Beachman supports.

Beachman is looking a lot like Bammer, but perhaps with more than a few IQ points shaved off. And who is Bammer you might ask?

This is a sad situation, to say the least and begs the question: When will Hombre finally get around to imposing a one handle per person rule around here??

By Catocony on Sunday, January 31, 2010 - 07:47 am:  Edit

Well, DG does live in Florida, and has used about 20 different login handles over the years. You do the investigative work if you want.

He is Canadian you know, and they should never be trusted.

Laguy sorry to burst your conspiracy theory bubble, but I am not Beachman. While we're at it, I'm also neither republican nor democrat. I believe in freedom FROM government, which makes me a libertarian.

Left or right, the government shouldn't be expected to run our economy. Bush presided over eight years of the best example of government mismanagement of our economy I've ever seen.

Obama's agenda is very far removed from the typical democrat, which is why so many of his 'own' democrat leaders are cutting from the rank and file. And rather than illustrate the point myself, if you don't believe that Obama has a socialist agenda? Just Google 'Obama Socialist agenda'.

If after studying his actions during the first year of his presidency, you still aren't at least a little concerned that he's a socialist, then you really do have your head in the sand, LATurk(ey)

By Laguy on Sunday, January 31, 2010 - 08:44 am:  Edit

DG:

So the only evidence you yourself can present that Obama is a Socialist is to suggest a google search so that we can see what other kooks are manufacturing?

That is compelling.

Obama will let several key tax breaks expire this year, effectively raising taxes by stealth:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100201/bs_nm/us_budget_backdoortaxes

And Obama proposes RECORD defecits in his new tax and spend budget:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100201/ap_on_bi_ge/us_budget

Those who say the defecit issue was inherited by Bush may be correct, however Obama is definitely making it far worse.

But hey, it's not our problem - our kids will pay it for us, right?

By Catocony on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 - 07:22 am:  Edit

No stealth about the sunset taxes Deeg, he campaigned that he was going to let the Bush tax cuts expire.

By Knockkneedman on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 - 08:12 am:  Edit

Obama always said he would let the Bush tax cuts expire. This is only news to Republicans who are trying to make a big deal about it now and call it a new tax 'increase'.

So if you took home $66,000 after deductions (realistically) about $80,000, you’re paying about $1000 more in Fed taxes ($85/month). Say that number goes up to $140,000 (realistically probably $175,000 or more pre-deductions) you are hit with about $3000 more. Yes as you earn more it will go up more. I hate paying taxes as much as the next guy, but there is also a reality that we need to pay for goods and services the government provides, just like we pay for goods and services that private business provides. The new budget increases the debt but has less of a deficit than the previous budget, not much but less. You have to start somewhere. The last 8 years screwed this country; we went from a thriving economy and budget surplus to a disaster with the biggest budget shortfalls in history. But those tax cuts, which are one of the main causes of the budget shortfalls, were a great idea.

Do a google on what is happening in Colorado Springs, CO. Their war against all taxes is resulting in basically cutting everything we expect government to provide. Police, fire, they are even going to start turning off street lights to cut utility bills. There are non-profitable services that we all expect government to provide. The right seems to be under the impression these services are not only non profitable, but they are free.

By Dongringo on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 - 09:10 am:  Edit

How'd ya like the government to run your healthcare like Colorado Springs?

Canada is very much a socialist country, with 'free' healthcare, free college education, and an incredible welfare system. The taxes paid by the average Canadian are in fact far higher than Americans realize. As for the quality of the healthcare? Appt to see primary doctor takes weeks. Primary Doctor refers you to specialist which takes weeks. Specialist orders tests, MRI etc... which takes weeks or MONTHS more. It is not uncommon for Canadians with disposable income to travel to either the US or south america for their healthcare rather than living in pain while waiting for their 'free' healthcare to help them. Yeah... sign ME up for 'free' Obamacare

Private sector runs things better and more efficiently than government monopoly. If you don't believe that, why is the USA government run monopoly called 'education' in grades k-12 among the worst in the G7? Let's hear it Bwana!

By Knockkneedman on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 - 09:27 am:  Edit

DG,

Quit reading only right wing propaganda. Funny how everything the right ever tells you about Canada's health care is how you are waiting a month for everything. But the numerous Canadians (and Canadian clients) I work with all tell me how good their system works, and that they don't have to wait for service.

Health care costs are killing business in this country. Business cannot afford the absurd annual increases so they continue to get passed along to employees, meanwhile benefits drop every year. A great system where the company can increase costs 15% in one year and decrease benfits 15%. I wish my company could work that model and stay in business

By Dongringo on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 - 10:06 am:  Edit

Knockknee

I'm not getting that info from 'right wing propaganda'. The stories are from my Canadian relatives, three of whom have resorted to 'medical tourism' in the past few years. Any further questions about the validity of my 'propaganda', KKM?

I omitted the one about my aunt who was misdiagnosed, given lesser tests to save money and died of a curable ailment within 1 week of showing symptoms. Her only crime? Running a business with 180 employees, and contributing millions of dollars into the canadian government run health care system.

Spare me the lecture about 'right wing propaganda'. I actually MOVED from a socialist country to come to the USA. And more and more of my relatives are doing so as they realize they don't get back what they put into the system.

Those of you who welcome socialism with open arms deserve what you get ... or don't get.

The funny thing about these political threads is that you can pick any one of them going back 5, 6, 7 years or more, and you will more than likely find the same guys (I'd say douche bags) posting in them. What is the point? You are never going to change each other's minds, and you don't want to have a serious debate, you just want to call each other stupid. I've never understood why people want to talk about politics on a site like this or when you are looking at pussy.

It reminds me of the last time I was in one of my usual locales, and this fuck brings up something about "global warming" trying to make some nonsensical point, and before he could finish, I looked at him and told him that I could fart right now, and it would have more of an impact on the temperature of the planet, especially in our generally vicinity, than me going back to my hotel room and leaving the a/c and tv on all night..... so shut the fuck and drink your beer and look at that ass over there.

By Knockkneedman on Tuesday, February 02, 2010 - 10:57 am:  Edit

What's even funnier is when someone criticizes that people are calling others stupid, by calling others stupid.

For the record, I have had a great time mongering with DG, don't at all consider him stupid just that he has misguided political beliefs

Obama will let several key tax breaks expire this year, effectively raising taxes by stealth...

Oh, that is hilarious! The expiration of tax cuts that every reputable economist will tell you played a significant role in the run-up of the Bush-era deficits would be a "tax increase." That's a good one!

You say tom-aye-to, I say to-mah-to. You say tax increase, I say restoration to a defensible level...

I fall squarely in the category of those whose taxes will go up. And like Warren Buffett, I say it's about fucking time.

As long as we are exchanging health care nightmare anecdotes, how about my good friend who took advantage of the U.S. healthcare system to see a dermatologist who told him his little bump was nothing. A few years later that little bump had spread to his lungs and other organs and he is now dead.

Or my uncle who died from a botched bypass operation.

Recently, I saw two family care physicians in the United States. They made the most cold-hearted clock-watching prostitutes in Tijuana seem like credible candidates for humanitarian of the year awards. Both told me they had run out of time after 15 minutes, and one in particular refused to answer any questions owing to lack of time (ironically, one of the questions on my list was where I could get a yellow fever vaccine, which as it turns out would have put me at risk of getting yellow fever in light of the prescription he had just handed me and its interaction with the vaccine--fortunately I later read the small print insert with the prescription and for this reason alone did not get the vaccine).

I guess I have the capitalist health care system in the United States to blame for these and other nightmares. And I, along with some of my friends, do medical tourism to Thailand to avoid U.S. capitalist health care. Based on these anecdotes, I suppose I have proven Canada's system is better than that in the U.S. and socialist medicine is better than capitalist medicine.

Isn't it fun to play the anecdote game DG?

Be forewarned, Bleachman, these reports use big words and are written be people with an actual education; people who actually have spent their lives studying climate issues. Maybe the National Academy of Sciences is not as good at interpreting the findings from thousands of scientific studies as is the Daily Mail (think British version of National Enquirer - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html ), but they all conclude that climate change is real and is precipitated to a significant degree by man-made causes. But, please, be my guest...keep your head buried in that Florida sand. Be careful, though. You may drown when the sea levels rise.

Looks like all of your sources have change their mesage from Global Warming to Climate change!

Read slowly.....THEY HAVE CHANGED THEIR MESSAGE FROM GLOBAL WARMING TO CLIMATE CHANGE !!!!!!!

They will continue to change their message when ever their select, phoney measurements they use to make us believe whatever they want us to believe to push their own agenda, politics and money making schemes (Al Gore).

Scientific research has become as about corupted as most politics and religion in many ways.....it is about MONEY,and forcing an agenda on others. The difference is politics we get who we elected and we keep electing the crooks......religion is about faith.....but most of the hiarchy in most religions are about money and power. Scientists are now manipulating the criteria and facts to push their agenda and make money!

Apparently I am now Beachman in the minds of all the leftwing jackals? Heavy sigh...

I don't know who Beachman is, but one thing's for sure: there are more democrats than republicans on this board, so Beachman and I appear to be barking up the wrong tree around here.

I wonder why this board leans to the left? Is it only the memebership here, or is this indicative of a trend amongst hobbyists?

Clearly those from the right tend to have more of a moral issue against our hobby. That must be it. Well, let me just say that I find the likes of Laguy et al both politically and morally reprehensible. There - I said it - so deal with it! :D

PS
Beachman preaching to Bwana about how money corrupts science and education funding is priceless; apparently BM hasn't met BD or anyone else on this board for that matter.

By Bwana_dik on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 05:57 am:  Edit

BM (which does not stand for Bowel Movement, as this guy is as full of shit as a person can be):

Scientists have been using the term "climate change" for decades. It's the ignorant media that's latched onto the term "global warming." Nevertheless, the term "global warming" is not inaccurate, because it refers to the overall changes in atmospheric temperatures. That you've had snow in FL does not alter that fact one iota (you can't see beyond your own backyard, can you). Brazil has been having record heat waves at the same time. The warming of the atmosphere produces climactic extremes (heat waves and deep freezes, along with more precipitation), but why I'm I telling you. You know it all. You read the Daily Mail. Silly me. I read Science and Nature.

Apparently everyone is corrupt except you. Congratulations on your purity of heart and intellect. So funny. If a climate scientist wants to make real money, he/she goes to work for the energy industries and produces outlier findings challenging climate change. S/he doesn't go to work in a university. You are a scream, BM.

Deeg-

I think BM has possibly met one person on this board, but probably no more than that. He hasn't had a hobby-related post in over five years. And from his general crankiness it appears he's not gettin' any at home either. My informants tell me he spends his days and nights in a Cold War era bunker filled with sand and k-rations (you know, those Soviet missiles are really still there in Cuba, pointed right at Florida), searching the web for the highest quality science. He's hoping to earn an on-line degree in climate science debunking from Bob Jones University.

Let me be clear...I know Deeg, and Deeg is no Beachman

I think BM finds our hobby objectionable because of the carbon we burn as we travel to meet our special friends here and there. Meanwhile, he is saving the planet by jerking off to the accounts we post here rather than traveling to far-flung lands to have personal encounters with real women. He's a closet environmentalist, pretending to be a whack-job. Al Gore would be proud of him.

Socialism for Liberals!

As the late Adrian Rogers said, "you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

This man is truly a genius!

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A...

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
