While I have since dumped my crappy Blue Cross HMO for a PPO last year, I did end up in a hospital in Brasil for an allergic reaction, still on the HMO. I had to pay the bill then submitted to Blue Cross when I got back. Sent them a note explaining the currancy conversion. They sent me a check, no problem.
