You are in a robe, not a towel. As an example, I'll use my favorite terma as the model. First, you walk/taxi/Metro to whichever terma interests you. You walk in, get your key from the front desk, and head for the locker room. You change into a robe (good idea to wear your boxers though) and then I head to the showers for a quick rinse off. Then, it's off to the bar. Have a drink, mingle with the garotas, just hang out basically. This can take some time, since you want to meet a bunch of garotas, take in the scene, etc. After interviewing garotas, you settle on one or two and head for a room. 40 minutes or one hour, your choice. You usually wait a few minutes, either in the bar or in a small waiting area or, at 4x4, in your room, for the garota to go shower and change out of the bikini she wears in the bar. Then, you do your time, and then go hit the showers. Then, back to the bar, maybe just to hang out, maybe to recharge for another session. It just depends. You can walk in, hit the bar, grab a girl and be in a room 10 minutes after you left the sidewalk, but I've rarely seen this done except if you're going there to see a specific garota, i.e. Bia at Luomo. Even then, most guys will head to the bar afterwards for an hour or so. They're not brothels in the sense that you walk in, pick a girl and get running immediatly to a room. Depending on your monger experience, the only thing similar to a terma is an FKK in Germany.
