TMoney, When did it get decided that people who posted here or on any board had to be interested in meeting others here in person? I post and read here because it's diverting and I learn now and again something about the attractions in TJ. Already got friends, thanks, and I know I can trust them, so I feel absolutely zero need to expand the base from this list when it's become so apparent that a significant number of people in TJ who post on the lists are not as discrete as they should be with valuable information. This is the good part about anonymous virtual communities--I can derive good parts of the interaction (info on chicas, a laugh now and then) without putting myself at the mercy of guys I barely know by revealing to them who precisely this guy Ritmo is who engages in the morally deviant practice of fucking whores. Rather than get into complicated scenarios that intermingle my TJ life and my real life, I prefer to keep them VERY neatly separated. Maybe you don't care all that much about the possibility of the fallout on your life, and you go about things differently. Fine--go for it. Fuck you, though, when you get up on your soapbox and try to say it's guys who recognize the danger of such a way of doing things and don't want to run the risk because they like their regular lives too much who are somehow ruining the 'community.' Don't tell me how I should live my life. If you ask me, the thing that ruins this 'community' is way too many jerks running around telling other people they should be just like them, think about the hobby in just the same way, comport themselves in just the same way. That, I can do without, thanks. As for taking all your toys and going home, couldn't you have just DONE it, and not had to announce it? If you dislike things so much here, then by all means, go--nobody's making you stay. Don't expect anybody to cry over it, though, and don't expect everybody to share your vision of some horrible 'where did it all go wrong?' state of affairs. I feel quite sure that this list (or some other list) will continue to be a useful place to read and post, and I don't much care if you or any of the other old school guys who were into getting together to hang out and drink together in TJ pack up your things and leave. As someone already said, it was all you old farts who hung out together too much in TJ who created all the infighting and the mutual hatreds, the Porkers vs. that other guy, and all the rest of that boring bullshit. We anonymous posters will be far more successful at building community, because we know what fuckers we all are, and we aren't interested in giving the fuckers any more information than they need. So you're leaving? Who cares? GO already, you big cry baby. |
