I was walking from AB to LC the other day and stopped to shoot the shit with an amigo for a minute when a cop car pulls up. A short cop with a flak jacket gets out and starts questioning us. Then he has us empty all our pockets out on the hood of a parked car. He searched us from top to bottom, went through my wallet. Even though my heart sped up I kept cool, even small talked with the officer. He seemed disappointed that he didn't find anything except a condom and some pocket change, so he finally let us go. Kind of nerve racking. What surprised me was that this happened just a few paces down from AB. Isn't that area covered by some unspoken agreement between the owners and the cops? We were just talking...maybe it looked like a drug deal or something. I did feel safer that it occurred there and not in the alley. |
