Something I'm trying, is to get a Visa Bucks card, and put just enough money in the account to bail me out if i ever need to hit a ATM, or I'm having too good of time and need to pull out more cash. I plan on keeping about 300 in there, if I loose the card no biggie yet it gives some security and a back up source of cash.
