In general - the Mexican zones of tolerance replace the USA's "Welfare Momma" system. Neither of them are a very pretty site. In both cases, these chicks basically are just parasites on the ass of society. Other than entertainment, they produce no real product. However, I suppose you could look at the National Football League in the same light - they also do not produce any real useful product. With Hollywood, at least they improve the technology of of communication, and they have the opportunity to better society - although the fuckers will almost always just sell out for the almighty dollar, just like the Tijuana bar wenches. You would think education would help the young women - but some people are just too stupid, or too lazy, to try to make an "honest living". What I'm trying to say is that this kind of shit has been going on for milenia - it is the "world's oldest profession", no study is going to change any of that. Eventually there will be some kind of Virtual Reality Machine produced that will simulate incredible romance/fucking experiences, and this will eliminate much of the need for these woman's services. Of course(in the USA) it will also retip the balance of the battle between the sexes, which in recent years has been moving in the woman's favor. This is, of course, the REAL bottom line, as far as the reason why us gringo men go to Mexico - men are higher class citizens in Mexico, as Mexico is a throwback to the times where Male brawn and aggresiveness ruled the roost.
