That's a European concept...the traffic circle is very common in Europe, when roads converge ..( sometimes out in the middle of nowhere...)...some of the most famously difficult to navigate are ones like Place de Concorde or Arc de Triomphe ( with something like 12 streets converging...) in Paris...but once you get used to'em they are actually pretty efficient...However, they are navigated by instinct and "feel" rather than law or logic...
They call'em "glorieta(s)" down in TJ...and are also a great place to put large, bronze statues of national heroes like Benito Jaurez, Miguel Hidalgo, et al...
