So far, the only apartments I have found which meet my criteria are in the Zona Rio, and run $600 - $800 for a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment. I am not sure what one bedrooms cost, but I would guess $500, if you can find one. I used to have an apartment behind the hipodromo. The neighborhood was OK, but the location was inconvenient. It was almost fully furnished, including appliances. My current place came with a stove, but no refrigerator. I can't show proof of residency because evrything is in my roommate's name, and I don't think it is legal for me to live there without a visa anyway, is it? Currently, I am wanting to bring across a used washing machine for a Mexican friend with no visa, as well as a TV for myself. I am strongly considering relocating to TJ full time. If I do that, I need to find a legal and safe way to bring across several thousand dollars worth of furniture, appliances, and A/V gear. Leaving them behind is not an option. I will probably e-mail you directly in the future, but for now, I think a lot of people on the board would be interested in hearing about the different types of visas and permits. I have been told by other people to absolutely not get a residence visa, but you suggest doing so. When you get a chance, how about providing more info?
