Off topic: What would you do in this situation?

You are driving ahead on a two lane street and all of sudden a car darts out of the parking lot of a shopping center and probably will collide with you. 1. Do you let the car collide with you? 2. You change lanes(not knowing if there are any cars to the far right lane which you might hit because there is not enough time to check (Note: you have a split second to make a decision) I was faced with this situation and I choose #2. I know I took a big risk because if I hit a car in the lane I was changing to then it would have been my fault(I think). The thing was I didn't want to get struck by that a-hole. What a quandary. Maybe I should have let he hit me and I could have collected a big settlement. But then again what if I got killed or seriously injured?
