The sexism in the prejorative use of the word "whore" always amazes me. After all, a "whore" is a person who (for whatever reason) can convince others to pay them to do something which most of us do for free. Sex is a lot of fun and I fail to see why it is shameful to be considered so desireable that others are willing to pay for the privilege. I am personally proud when I can have sex four or five times a day...why are multiple partners a good thing for men and a bad thing for women? What kind of sense does that make? The way i look at it is that I trade something I have (money) for something she has (youth and beauty) and I also purchase a release form any emotional commitment that I do not feel like making. When i was the one with the youth and beauty I had no problem accepting money and gifts from older women who wished to enjoy me and I never felt diminished by the transaction. Face it, anytime you trade your time and effort for money, you are whoring. The type of work is just a detail. The only difference between the employer and the employee lies in the level of control. One is not good and the other bad.

I totally agree. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with prostitution, nor prostitutes, nor johns. I rarely use the word "whore" except when quoting someone, and find it distasteful when people use it regularly.

When I see someone using the word often and regularly putting down prostitutes, I think it reflects poorly on the person.

A couple of points that I am fairly sure of...
