DJ; Sounds like you really liked Rio. How would you compaire it to Medellin?

RG, It is really hard to compare it to Medellin or any other location...every place holds its own beauty. I will say that RIO is more my style and i knew it would always be. I regret not going sooner The girls in RIO are more passionate and offer better service, IMHO...I find the girls in Medellin are stunning in beauty but seem to sometimes dissapoint me in service and attention. But to each his own, thats what its all about..

DJ, I would concur with your assessment with Pros in both countries.

Medellin is a much better non-pro location.

I lived in Rio for 9 months and it took me that long to scratch the surface of the non-pro scene.

I don't even do pros in Medellin anymore and its only taken 3 trips.

So as I have said many times, if you want pro, go to Rio. Non-pro, go to Colombia.

These women know you came to their country to fuck, they have heard the same bullshit your feeding them a million times. I agree with both you guys about the difference between Rio and Medellin, but Rio seems so expensive these days with the Real being close to 2:1 instead of 3:1 when I was there a year ago.

I actually did not use thier serices as much as i thought i would, but what services i did use were invaluble!

Paying $300 for information that is readily available on this board is wasted money IMHO. For you, it sounds like it worked out and that;s great but they cannot look anyone in the eye and legitimately tell people they do 600Real of work in one week....that's fuckin' nuts. I guess it's a lazy fee for guys that dont want to do any research and have someone hold them by the hand. I'm sure they have helped many a monger in the past in sticky situations but I doubt that money gets you insurance from getting popped by the local authorities for setups and bribes.

Gib, we got side tracked in Colombia. I am really bummed, had my airfare paid and ready to be in Rio in two weeks but had to cancel due to business. This work shit is really getting in the way. Just talked to Whitty and we are for sure coming the week of July 4th. I will be in MDE for almost a month starting the end of Dec and Whitty is off to Thailand for Thanksgiving. Well, we now know you wont pay 300 for thier services and maybe you dont need them....The service i mostly took advantage of was translation as i dont speak the language. Also I did not pay 300...i paid less. For translation help for a week, for me it was worth it. I have done extensive research on this board along with getting advice from the people who i consider to be the RIO Vets. Further more i dont understand why you are so concerned about how myself or other people spend thier money. Giving monetary payments for Don is not raising the cost of pussy in Brazil. Finally if i would of got set up or popped, then i must have been doing something i shouldn't have or must have a been a real idiot to put myself in that situation. To each his own, I have all the information I need to get around Rio, and I am far from lazy. The money spent with Don and Ken is priceless. Not only is Opie, I mean Ken fun to hang out with, they both have saved my ass on several occasions. I dont think it is really necessary to tell a guy he is fucking nuts over it though. Im sure their Portuguese is beginning or lower intermediate so still sounds like a scam to me but as long as their are newbies out there that they can persuade to use their services to allow them to live in Brazil, I guess they will always be around. They have guides like that all over the world but the prices are way lower than that and I am guessing they are getting commissions from the places they are taking you and wouldnt admit it if they were getting kickbacks from various services.

Guys like myself and others have helped guys get acquainted with areas and have written guides on the subject just for the sport of mongering and no hidden agendas...so for me, seeing someone trying to make money off of this is crappy. Seems like quite a few bloodsucker board members trying to make a buck of unsuspecting mongers in Brazil and thats their only reason for being on the board. Just make money in the USA and take trips like the rest of us.

I can say, i will not need any service from guides next time I go to RIO. I am studing the language. Being that it was my virgin Trip to RIO, I wanted to have all my bases covered. I did the same thing when i went to Medellin. I have been there 10 other times with no assistance.

I know that no matter what I or anyone else says out here, you will still think spending money on a guide is nuts. However, in my opinion, I think a newbie can benefit from a guide on a first time trip to a new monger destination even after reading up on the place in advance.

There are many people who also would say that posting on a sex website is nuts. So be it. Maybe for some it is but if it serves as a benefit to others then it is worthwhile. Would you not agree?

I feel the same applies to an honestly presented guide service that delivers on it's offerings.

Nobody get's suckered into using Don's guide service. It is definately not a scam either. I can vouch that Don's Portuguese is fluent and from what others say, Ken's is beyond a beginner's or lower intermediate level but I only met Ken one time so I will take their word.

I myself have never used Don's service. In fact I visited Rio multiple times many years before Don first came to Rio. I winged it on my cherry trip to Rio in 1993 and had a blast because I did speak passable Portuguese but my friends didn't. By my first trip's end, I was warn out translating all the time. It is real work. Funny thing also was that I had heard of termas and knew what they were but never went to one until 2004. Back in the 90's GFE in Rio with the local Cariocas was more the norm than it is at present.

Don's services also include: Airport pickup and drop off, apartment/hotel arrangements, cell phone rental, internet accessibilty, advise on restaurants, laundry service, arranged tours and places to safely site see, arranging internet dates, setting up festinhas etc.

One important thing Don and Ken offer at no extra charge is friendship and comeraderie. Like I said before, I myself have never used Don's sevices but I have met many who have. I actually enjoy meeting up with him and current and past clients every now and then at Alcazar's to have a couple of cold ones and shoot the shit for a short while.

Sounds to me like guys are getting kickbacks for recommending an overpriced interpreter on this board and other boards. I can understand going to a new country can be daunting but to charge that much for such minimal benefit is just a scam. I guess we should watch out for SPAM from these guys in the future.

Just would like to add my 2 cents on asking for Don and Ken's services...

For a newbie's maiden trip to Rio, some may find the information from Bwana Dik's Guide and researching CH enough.

While others may find some security in having someone like Don or Ken there to help out.

Don and Ken live in Rio and run a business there and I'm sure they are up front with their rates. It's up to the hombre whether they would like to contact them.

I met Don three years ago and Ken more recently, and they are IMHO lay back, good guys. I, like you Cubanut, have never used Don and Ken's services, but I too value their friendship and comradery.

Bottom line, whether you choose to go it alone or use a guide, as long as you have a great experience in Rio, that all that matters.

Continue to enjoy the life gentlemen.

Don's fluent Portuguese is still slightly more fluent than mine, but even Don will tell you that I speak more "sacanagem" than he ever did. I can understand every word a hooker says to me in a crowded bar with the music blasting and I can tell her absolutely anything you'd like to do to/with her. So I'd say I'm doing pretty damned good. And Don will tell you I've picked up Portuguese faster than anyone he's ever known.

Next time you're down, I'll be more than happy to look you in the eye and tell you we earn our fee. I've known a great many mongers we've shown around who will be more than happy to do the same. Our philosophy is, do the job right the first time, and they won't NEED us the second time. Our reputation speaks for itself.

Very good report, and DJA was a satisfied customer of Amerioca. So was I. No need to make unfriendly comments or appraisals of services which are valuable for some newbies and perhaps, perhaps, unnecessary for some vets. Keep in mind that both Rio and its sex scene are vast.

Dj....I wouldnt need their services as I speak Portuguese and am Portuguese. I also speak Spanish and have been to Cuba and obviously Mexico. In Asia, only in the Phils do they speak English, and when in Thailand, I speak Thai. I cant see how knowledge of Portugese is necessary in the termas but may be for freelancers. I have been to Brazil once but not as a monger so I really dont know the scene there. I guess of guys want to piss their money away for piece of mind..so be it..I just cannot see how it's necessary to get held by the hand in a very user-friendly mongering environment...I know plenty of mongers that went their the first time and had a blast without any knowledge of Portuguese skills.

As far as kick backs go, I can't prove that it exists but some of the mongers who pimp Don and Ken's product seem to have something at stake. Not a slam on Dj for using the services, just a slam on the service actually existing.

As a vet of AC, LoS and Brazil, you should be aware that it's just DIFFERENT in Rio. I am not saying that you HAVE to use Don. For the more adventurous, there's plenty of info on this Board to keep you out of serious harm's way. But Rio can be intimidating for less adverturous newbies. I used Don my first trip to Rio and was glad I did. It's quite a bit more difficult than AC, BKK and Pattaya. Those asian sites are waaay more user friendly.

As for kickbacks, I don't know for sure one way or another, BUT I know for sure that I am not paying one cent more when they take me someplace. If they get something out of it, I don't care if it doesn't impact me. By the way, I haven't seen Don in over two years and am in no way benefitting financially by singing his praises.

As for the rest of Asia I have not yet visited, I would gladly pay Mongerx to show me around Jakarta!!
