Changing the culture on the board regarding newbies

I think we should have a discussion about the general tone of the board in regards to newbie questions. It seems like we have had an increasing number of newbies that come in and ask for information that have been responded to very inappropriately. Many veterans seem to feel the questions are stupid and instead of taking the time to answer the questions or even point them in the right direction, they start mocking the newbies, give them false information as a joke, or just tell them to read the fucking board without telling them where to go.

I feel this kind of behavior is detrimental to the community in the long run. Club Hombre is a fantastic site. But is has a lot of information spread out in a lot of different areas. I think many people post on the chat boards without even knowing the bulk of information is available in the discus section. Many of us have been here for several years now so navigating the site might be second nature to us. However, some newbies might not see it this way.

I think that instead of mocking newbies, we should try to help them. Did they ask a question that is already answered? Tell them where it is. Don't tell them to go looking for it on their own. Some people just don't know any better. That is why they are here and that is why this resource is so valuable. I think we risk tainting this site as a good resource by giving out false information and not warmly welcoming newbies.

So the next time you go to mock a newbie because of their stupid question, instead of wasting your time typing a humorous anecdote or yelling at them, why not just point them in the direction they need to go or answer their question? They will probably be very appreciative!
