Everyone that travels has that dream of ditching life in the US and moving abroad. Hell, last year I was tempted to just quit, sell everything and move to Buenos Aires. For some of you that are close to retirement age (50, 55 or 60+) it's a reality but for most of the younger guys it is a fantasy. Guys need to keep something in mind when they plan this mental escape. Part of the main reason we love it in these places yes is the quality of life and the beautiful girls. But the reality is it's because we have plenty of money to spend there. Ask yourself this. How many girls in Rio are going to hang out with an old guy that has no money? Yeah, you can find a few but reality has to always be in your head at all times. The reason I have so much fun in these places is because I can do whatever the hell i want. I can go anywhere to eat, go to any place, travel around. Essentially because I have money to spend. Most of the guys I come across in my travels speak very little to NONE of the local language. Try getting a real job in that city. Your chances are slim to none. Unless you have a business in the USA that self generates income every month or you have a ton of retirement savings you need to rethink this. I know two good friends that took the plunge and decided to move. Odds are they both will be back in the USA within 6 months. Sure they probably had a great time but the reality is they both burned up most of their savings and retirement savings (not smart), have no job to come to when they come back to the USA, are less marketable since they have been out of the working world the past 6 months. Also, both are younger guys that have many years to go till retirement. So again. Yes, we'd all love to escape but people need to rethink this before doing it. Before not a day went by that I didn't think of moving to South America. Now I thank my lucky stars I have a good job in the USA, have a great life in the USA and take vacations when I want. You have to take advantage of the younger years so you can enjoy retirement. I envy all you guys that are close to retirement... Good luck.
