As one of the biggest fans of Rio on this board, you know it's getting pricey when I start whining. At the end of my report I'll give ya'll my "all-in" costs.

Of course, it's not just Rio and the dollar-real conversion that has changed the equation. Airfares are pretty ridiculous these days. I was lucky to get a fare for $1300. My trip two weeks ago cost $1600, and I was looking online for tickets for the next trip, and the minimum fare for most of my dates was $1900!

Inflation in Rio has taken a big toll. Food prices are double and triple what they were just 6-7 years ago. The situation is much worse in Rio and SP than other places in Brazil. While in Porto Alegre 2 weeks ago, my food bill was considerably less than half what I'm paying in Rio, and the food was generally better there. Lodging is far higher in Rio than elsewhere in Brazil.

And the cost of pussy keeps creeping up. Scortshow is now up to R$130, and other places seem to have raised their prices by about 10% in a single year.

What's a guy to do? Smile and keep fucking the best pussy in the world!

Day One started and ended with the obligatory L'uomo (CH Link) run. L was my first termas, and is still my favorite. I rolled in at a few minutes until 5p to get the entrada discount: the entrada (R$90) is free if you arrive by 5p and do a program before leaving. That's a $50 savings--worth getting your ass in there early.

I took a good, long shower and steam bath, got re-hydrated, and watched as the girls arrived. Most seem to come in between 5-6:30. While at the beach I called a freelancer named Cintia (see her pics on an earlier posting of mine) and arranged to have her meet me at 5p. I had a relaxed lunch at Terezetto Cafe and then did some shopping at Zona Sul, before heading back to prepare for Cintia. Cintia is a new favorite of mine. Where are your reports and photos from the last 4 years?

I was in Rio last month. L'uomo had a promotion. Just by luck I went on Sunday. The promotion was that you got free entry the rest of the week if went on Sunday. They asked my first name and my tag number on Sunday and put it on a list. When I went back later in the week, they looked at the list and I never had to pay another entry fee.

R$200 isn't bad for a couple of hours with a hot garota. That's one price that hasn't changed much over the years. Sure, I could get it for $R75 with the fresh new faces sometimes, but R$150-R$200 was a good deal for a pickup at Help (at R$3-3.5/$ too). Maybe being "old friends" helped keep the price down?

But the entrada at L--and the rest of the prices--definitely cause sticker shock.

Hunterman, I think speaking Portuguese and being somewhat of a regular helps keep prices down. The occasional $5 bottle of VS lotion has also probably saved me hundreds of dollars.

Day Three:

Today was a day off from the hobbyist activities. Sundays in Rio are always my favorite day of the week, despite the fact that most the termas are closed. All of Rio turns out and parades along the beachfronts of Copacabana and Ipanema if the weather is good, and the weather was perfect!

So it was a simple day: breakfast, followed by four or so hours at the beach. The eye candy on Ipanema is not to be believed, especially on a beautiful Sunday. It was during dinner that we got the phone call telling us that our friend Richard (formerly "travelsrr" on CH) had collapsed and died while with friends at Balcony Bar. Many here know Richard, and know that he had some serious heart problems this past year. Still, it's a shock when you're slapped in the face by the reality of mortality when in a place such as Rio, where life seems especially vibrant. Richard was one of the good guys here. I saw him last November and he was, as always, incredibly upbeat despite his recent health problems. And just two weeks ago we chatted on the phone about a particularly hot girl who I knew and he wanted to meet. I sent him some pictures of her, along with contact info, and he responded by sending me a huge cache of photos of some of his favorites. You could not do a favor for Richard without him repaying you threefold.

So it was a strange end to the evening. I was glad to hear that he was with some of his closest friends, and that Jag and Don were taking charge of the situation. Amazing, but it was just five years and two weeks ago that those two were taking care of Doug (Sweetmesquite) after he had passed away in his apartment in Rio. Thanks, Jag and Don.

Day Four:

Another day in Rio, another trek to the beach. Today was a good bodysurfing day, with waves of 3'-5', so I spent a bit longer at the beach.

Day Six:

Well, the day's not completely in the books, but I'm toast.

It was another stunning day at the beach. Rarely have I been in Rio when I've had such a good run of weather.



The surf, though, was flat. The gods of surf giveth, and the gods of surf taketh away. I spent a good chunk of the morning chatting with the girl you see in the picture above. Having run out of reading material, I hopped a bus to Rio Sul Shopping and went to Saraiva book and music store. It's actually a pretty piss-poor book store compared to those in Porto Alegre, so there were about three English language books in the store worth reading.

Book in hand, I stopped in at a por kilo place in Copa and had a decent if overpriced lunch and did a little more obligatory shopping (for folks back home). I stopped into a drug store just to check on the price of generic Viagra. A 4-pack of 50mg tabs runs just over R$20. Compare that to a 4-pack of Cialis (generic not available yet) at R$122.

Back at the ranch I caught up on email and awaited my late afternoon appointment with Cíntia, a stablemate of Priscila's. Cíntia's the old lady I alluded to yesterday: she's all of 19, and as tiny a little spinner as you could imagine.

Cíntia showed up 30 minutes late, which for a brasileira means she arrived about 30 minutes before I expected her to show up. She was very apologetic. She comes in from a place about an hour away, and the traffic (bus) is unpredictable, as is true of all traffic in Rio.

On Tuesdays there is a farmers market at Praça General Osório. It's really fabulous, and I grabbed a bunch of fruit for the apartment. They also have lots of fish vendors.

On Wednesdays, however, Praça General Osório stinks to high heaven. All the ice the fish were packed in, along with some of the fish (it seems), gets dumped in the street. This is an excellent report from one of the masters. L'uomo: A minimum 40-minute program is now 310R. A few weeks back I entered before 5pm, paid everything with a CC (nothing in cash) and they waived the entrance fee. The younger attendant(Luanna ??) is nicer than the older one, so that could have something to do with it. As far as talent, it is okay nothing special. Still the only termas open on Sunday now and still serves Feijoada on Sat. evenings. Just an opinion, that I believe Monte Carlo is the better choice in Copa. And I thought Solarium was lame unless you really, really like big-ass fake blondes.

Cialis:Prices vary greatly on this, you just have to check around. It should be in the 55-58R range for 2-pack. I can't tolerate V sides and just a little C goes a long way.

4x4: As BD stated, all prices have gone up another 10% or so in the past 6 months and that includes 4x4 as well. Prices are now 220R/240R for the 40-min/1-hour cabine rooms. Everyone probably knows by now, the girls wear short dresses or shorts. Yet they will still have completely nude-stripping shows and nude girl-on-girl action...go figure. Quite noticeable now how few americans frequent the place compared to brasilians. Still #1 as far quantity, attitude and party atmosphere. Unbeliveably Lorraine(panther-tat) still works there (age~40yo).

Day Seven:

Some days just go their own way, no matter what your plans.

As with every other day, the plan was to hit the beach right after breakfast. That I did, and it was another carbon-copy stunner of a day.

I departed a little bit earlier than normal, as I'd agreed to go with a friend and her niece to the cinema in Tijuca to see "Hunger Games." So after a couple hours at the beach, a rushed shower, and a quick lunch, I hopped the metro bound for Tijuca.

The visit with the GF was great, but even girlfriends, like fish, begin to smell bad after a few days. So after a morning at the beach together and some parting sex, I put her in a taxi to Santos Dumont. She thinks I'm at the airport now, for my flight home. I'm a bad boy!

As soon as her taxi was out of view I called my connection. She'd mentioned three or four new girls. I asked her to recommend who she thought I might like, given who I've chosen and liked in the past. She recommended Glaucene.

I grabbed some lunch at Cafe Terezetto, did some shopping for friends back home (I always come with a few pairs of Havaianas), and ran a few other errands. I took a nice walk along the beach, did a little fun reading, and then headed back to my apartment to meet my 6pm appointment.

Glaucene arrived a 6:30. Given that there's been a serious downpour between 5:00 and 5:30, and the fact that she was coming from about 2 hours away, I would consider that on time by Brasileira Standard Time.

I was, to be honest, a bit disappointed when I answered the door. She was not as cute as my connection suggested. She wasn't ugly by any stretch of the imagination, but she wasn't "Priscila hot" as had been implied. Still, she had a very sweet smile and seemed quite sweet.

We sat in the living area and chatted for about 15 minutes, allowing me to learn a bit more about her. She's 19, still in school, and originally from Recife. After a bit a talk about music and such we headed to the shower. This was also a bit disappointing. With all of my other guests I've had some serious interaction in the shower. With Glaucene it was just two people in a shower.

Back in the bed things warmed up, but never reached the standards of the average brasileira. The blow job was subpar, with more hand than mouth. The sex was fine, but not especially inspiring, and certainly didn't reach the standards set by Priscila earlier in the week. Once she got on top she seemed to get into things more, but this was a case of a 19-year-old with not enough experience. There was nothing particularly negative about the sex, but no real high points, either.

Glaucene and I showered up after I popped (she was REALLY TIGHT!) and chatted about music and Carnaval for a while, and I then sent her on her way. She was with me for about 90 minutes.

I had expected that this would be my final program of the trip, since I actually do head home tomorrow. But I hate going out on the trip's single low point, so I'll arrange something for the early afternoon tomorrow.

I think some of the termas have struggled without the gringo presence. And it's not just Americans that are MIA. You see far fewer Europeans here as well. The place used to be lousy with Swedes and Germans, etc., but now 95% of the guys in the termas seem to be Brazilian. And the termas are never as busy as they were 7-8 years ago. In typical Brazilian fashion, each time there's a dip in business, the termas owners raise prices.

Day Last:

All good things must pass. The final morning was spent--surprise!--at the beach. Despite being a little bleary-eyed after getting home from the Balcony at around 2am, I was up at 7:30a and on the beach by 8:30a.

All my efforts to secure one last GdP failed. These brasileiras don't like to work before 3-4p, and I have to be out of the apartment by 3 at the latest, and have an early flight (fucking United!).

Last evening was enjoyably spent chatting with a couple of fellow board members at Balcony and watching the parade. Years ago I concluded that I'd seen the ugliest woman ever out front of Help, but it turns out that was not true. There was a creature running around Balcony that looked like a cross between Dick Butkus, a bulldog, and a fire hydrant. Being the cachorro safado da rua that I am, I was tempted to piss on her. She was so ugly and so wide, even MasterBates would have gone limp.

The Balcony Stew also included a fair number of obvious trannies and probably a few non-obvious ones. If you want to avoid surprises, you should never get too drunk at Balcony. The girl you bring back to your apartment may have a serious salami hanging between her legs.

But there were a few cuties as well. I'd say there were at leads 4-5 double girls in the mix, compared to 25+ in the 'frighteningly ugly" category.

It was fun watching the show, but is no replacement for the old Terraço Atlântico scene.

I plan to wrap this up once I'm at the airport and, as promised, provide an overall accounting of what 10 nights and 11 days in Rio set me back. Whatever that number is, I had a great time.

Entertainment (rental of beach chairs/umbrellas, movie, cover at night club):

Entertainment (the women):

$1,272.22 or, $127.22/girl

Grand Total:

$4,513.18 or, $451.32/night.

Wouldn't 2 five day trips at about $2,250 each make more sense?

Mitchc - you forgot to add the $1200-$1600 for 2nd airfare into that equation.

Seems to me the more days you spread the airfare across, the better it works out. Four day trips feel too short to me, and amortizing an airfare across so few days means you have higher per day costs simply because of the air fare.. I'd feel like I was rushing to cram things into the time and not kicking back and enjoying all Rio has to offer. 7-10 days seems to be the sweet spot for me, both in terms of lowering per day costs and having time to take it all in.

You may have better luck with airfares given where you are coming in from, but I have fewer options, and fares are reliably lower flying Tuesdays through Thursdays. So in this instance I left on a Thursday night, was in town for two weekends, and headed home on a Tuesday, and back in the office this morning (Wed.).

The worst chick if ever seen at balcony is the thick haired unibrow garota........and spotting the tranny is a game my group of friends plays as well.......that and the whos dumb enough to go upstairs to dolce vida.......lol........

BD: Thanks for your summarizing your trip with your budget. I would think that if you didn't have your gf in town, your gdp entertainment costs would have gotten much higher. Was your apartment in Ipanema? How much did you pay per night? Did you partake any of the prives?

I paid $120/night for a nice 1 bedroom place in Ipanema, just a stone's throw from Centaurus.

Yes, my gdp entertainment costs probably would have been higher w/o the gf with me for two days, but my other expenses would have been a bit lower (food, drink, and entertainment costs for here were about R$300).

No privês this time. I'd planned a Centro run to check out a new place, but plans got screwed up.

B.D. How did you find your apartment? I generally stay in one of Don's rental apts in Copacabana or the Portinari Design Hotel, but I much prefer the area in Ipanema that you stay in. I go to the beach at Aproador and there are several restaurants and bars in the area that I like as well as the proximity to the General Osorio Metro station

I have been a fan of your reports and posts from cidade maravilhosa for quite some time. You definitely capture the essence of the Carioca pleasure-loving culture.

I met the owner of the place while in Rio one time. It is a great location. There are also some apartments available on Sá Ferreira in Copa that are close to the Copa entrance to the General Osorio metro station and a quick walk to the Arpoador area (my beach hangout as well).

Priscila is sweet, nice to read her GFE had improved. Nice pull BD!

It was interesting. The second time with Priscila was very different from the first. As soon as I opened the door she greeted me by name, with a big smile, and began talking away like we were old friends. And it got better from there.
