OK... so why single out sex-work as some extraordinary depredation. I really get ticked off at the popular perception that men who are on the buying end are somehow unfairly exploiting the sex-workers. It's a crock. So-what if the folks back home expect her to bring home the bread. They would have the same expectations if she came to TJ to work at the sweat shops for Chevrolet or Ford or Mitsubishi. The only real difference is that working the clubs pays a lot more. Why don't we have the same guilt hang-ups about impoverished Latinos getting subminimum wages working American lettuce fields and grape vinyards. Feeling guilty about poor people in impoverished lands having limited choices is fair and understandable, but please, save your angst or pity (and your guilt) for all the less attractive people who face the same poverty but who don't have the advantage of being able to offer a valuable service (and Lord knows most of us need the service). Wake up. Right wing America is at war with sex and doesn't give a damn about poverty. Don't be part of the problem.
