RE: Tweety.... Mexicans love Warner Bros. cartoon characters in general...Tweety just happens to be a particular favorite. Here's a more pseudo-intellectual analysis as to why Tweety might be a favorite of the chicas. Tweety is a neotonic-type, i.e., has an unusually large head for it's small body size and disproportionately large eyes (in comparison to adult forms, such as Foghorn Leghorn, a fully-developed rooster), thus emulating the shape and form of all "infants" in the animal kingdom (this includes baby chicks, chipmunks, calves, foals, puppies, kittens, lizards, tadpoles, etc...it's axiomatic and cross-species)...and, of course, we all know how maternal las chicas mexicanas are.... It's no accident that a statue of Tweety is prominently displayed in the same shrine that houses the portrait of the "Virgen de Guadalupe" in the Hotel Coahuila...May I suggest, "mother and child", the holy duo in Mexican culture, is somehow represented here in a secular environment?
