I wouldn't have approved her research project. Maybe for MS but not for Phd. A better focus for her project could be on whether the age for prostitution should be raised from 18 to 21. Personally I think 18, 19 is too young. Risk avoidance strategies imply a person capable of making sound decisions. I submit that the vast majority of the 18-20 year old chicas simply lack the wisdom and experience. I believe the younger girls are far more prone to end up with long-term negative impacts to their physical and mental health. With this type of project she could do quantitative group comparison (under 21 versus over 21) and have a realistic chance of her research actually doing something worthwhile (providing evidence, data, to support legislation to raise the age to 21).
