El Cochino, I have talked to the owner and he comes across as a sincere guy. I assume your conversation with him included the subject of the guard's possible involvement? This caper really confounds me (not to mention the owner's claim that it wasn't an isolated incident). Maybe another scenario is that the thief is another guest at the hotel...or working with another guest. Still, I'm thinking that if I owned the VZ, I would fire any security guard following any auto theft unless he had a damn untouchable alibi. With the setup they have, there is just no conceivable excuse for a car being stolen from under the guy's nose. No matter how good a car thief is, he still just can't enter a locked vehicle and drive it away as if it is his own car...there's got to be some delay...some suspicious behavior that would catch the attention of a security guard whose duty it is to watch such a small quiet area as that parking lot. They surely never miss an opportunity to shake down a chica looking for your room!
