E, criminal prosecution will be the least of your worries as they are all but non-existent -- reserved for big-time coyotes. The big deal before used to be the seizure of the vehicle, but supposedly they are doing away with this. It will be a major hassle if you are caught with an illegal alien in your vehicle, but to the best of my knowledge (and I have more than I SHOULD) it's not likely they will do anything but detain you for several hours, and impound your vehicle. Oh, and fingerprint you and enter you into a database in case you ever get popped again.
