I agree, and would never take pains to make the hotel workers' jobs more umpleasant than they already are, but it IS annoying when every hotel worker you encounter from the room door to the hotel door asks for a tip...makes you realize that the tip is most likely not going to the person actually doing the cleaning (don't know if they divvy up the tips at the end of the night or not, but I somehow doubt it). I'm considering leaving the tip on the bed or shelf in the future, to ensure a more direct transfer of gratuity; anyone have any insight as to if this is a faux pas or not?
