This place has some cute girls and some "not so obvious" ladyboys. There is a central dance floor and a "see through" dance floor directly above. You can look right up the girls skirts whom are dancing in school-girl type outfits right overhead. A novel idea. Most drinks are about 95 baht ot $2.30. Girl drinks cost the same. It is located in Soi Cowboy of Soi 23/Sukhumvit.

The plexiglass dancefloor above is a great idea but the girls dancing up there wear skirts so heavy and dark I couldn't tell if they had g-strings on or not. I couldn't see a thing. The new Dollhouse on Soi Cowboy also put in a small "see through" dance floor and here the lighting is better and the girls don't wear anything under their micro-mini skirts. Clear viewing for all.

When I dropped by Baccara I didn't see any notable ladies at all and I saw a couple of very obvious ladyboys on stage dancing. Maybe I hit this place on an off night, but I wasn't impressed enough to venture back any time soon. Dollhouse and Midnight are much better and only a few doors down.

Soi Cowboy is a much easier place to get around while looking at the nightlife in Bangkok. Sure, Patpong gets all the press, and there are those fake Rolexes and Gucci bags to buy for the missus back home, but Soi Cowboy is devoted to one thing and one thing only, Beautiful Thai women.

My buddy, Zach and I settled into the rack at a place called "Club Bacarat." We ordered our Singha beers and watched as these bored girls stepped side by side, using the pole to prop themselves up. Zach tapped on my shoulder and pointed at the ceiling. It was glass. There were girls dancing on it wearing school-girl outfits of pleated plaid skirts and white dress shirts (think Britney when she was younger). Oh, and they weren't wearing any panties.

We grabbed our drinks and headed upstairs. After sitting there and seeing them at eye level, we realized the better view was from below, so back to the main level we went.

To "take girl with" $15 to the house, negatiate with girl for services, anywhere from $20 to $40.
As my buddy likes to say, you don't pay a Thai girl to come with you, you pay her to leave.

This place is pretty good. service is ok and the enviroment is not pushy. it has some good looking girls, don't remenber seeing any ladyboys. i saw a few girls in the 7-8 range. the see through floor above is very exciting and some of the waitresses dancing aove are fine. worth your time coming here.///

Comfortable seats. See through ceiling. About 50% Farang 50% Japanese customer base. Had around 20 girls down below dancing, a few hello girls in long black dresses, and the server girls were handing out drinks as well as dancing up top in short black skirts.

There were quite a few nice looking girls. The place was fairly crowded. Not too shabby.

Stop in, sat down and ordered a beer. Wasn't pressured as I took my time and watched the ladies for a while. There were a few good lookers up dancing around. Just to keep it short, I liked this place and very glad to give it a try.

This may be the best bar, looks-wise, in Soi Cowboy right now. Briefly dropped in last night and the place was packed with Japanese. Of course that's also a bad sign, because that means the girls will be short time specialists with attitude demanding a lot of money. But there were a number of hotties dancing, including one stunning spinner with great tits on the second floor (they were topless up there).

Murasaki, this could well be encouraging news. I will check it out and I do sometimes find out things that customers don't of course. I won't hold my breath but I take your word that it has improved considerably. Khun Leigh and myself still feel that Soi Cowboy has to jump several levels to match the top bars in Nana Plaza. After living here 18 years I know the rollercoaster ride of the bar scene so well. One week it's hot next week it's not!

Oh, I agree. Soi Cowboy is nowhere close to Nana in the looks department. But it is vastly improved from a year ago, when I couldn't find anything attractive at all!

The atmospehre in this club has steadily deteriorated. The girls dancing on the main stage are, and always have been, listless shufflers. The panty-less girls on the top (translucent) stage are getting a bit listless now, themselves. Good looking, modern club with a good concept, but, of late, not much fun to be had here.

I've usually had decent luck with Baccara, and this past visit was no different. I hit about 7 or 8 bars on Cowboy, and Baccara had the best lineup, and the liveliest atmosphere. I found a real gem here, which I will be writing about in the upcoming trip report, and it also produced my first ever gogo twosome. Get there early when all the eye candy is present and accounted for. I'm sure they go quick as the night creeps in.

Murasaki...is 9 PM too early of a start at the go-go's?

Not at all. In fact, in some bars during some times of the year, that can be too late if you're dead set on nabbing a 9 or grabbing a certain girl. If you have your sights set on a certain girl, and it's high season, it would be wise to start your prowling at 7:30 to 8. If you're not "goal" oriented, then later start times are no problem, though certain bars may be cleaned out.

On my nights out, I usually try to hit the bars by 830 or 9 at the latest. It's not unusual for the top girls to get snapped up early, particularly in Cowboy, where many bars have only one or two truly attractive girls.

Mano: Does this mean the most attractive girls at Cowboy are still doing long-time? Some of what I have been hearing suggests many now restrict themselves to short-time, and rush back to the bar after the first round.

I don't have an answer for you there, brother. I haven't been in the market for longtime in well over a year now...

Checked out this place a couple of times this week. The one girl I pulled out of there wanted 4,000 baht LT (!) but settled on 3,000. Perhaps if it meant that much to me I could have negotiated her down to 2,500, but 4,000 seems to be the typical opening bid (although some of the girls will not do LT) with 3,000 the rate to settle on. It seems you need to buy two ladies drinks and pay the 600 baht bar fine before you can pull one out. Incidentally, the short-time price seems to be about 2,000 baht plus the bar fine and drinks.

They still have the girls upstairs with no underpants dancing on a see-through dance floor. However, the view is better from below, than from the second floor, where the second-floor girls don't look to hot.

Overall, the talent at this place these days seems reasonably good, not excellent but not bad.

i like to sit on the patio outside the go gos from 7:30 to 8:30 or so. watch the talent roll in. i usually sit at shark or dollhouse. happy hour beer prices are 70thb there.

one time i decided to relax on the baccara patio. no happy hour here. cost is 140thb. i'm not extremely price sensitive but when you are just looking at the street talent, you might as well move over one bar to shark and pay 70thb for your beer.

i was also quoted 4,000 l/t at baccara. i went with the 2,000 s/t price as my girl didn't agree to any reduction in price for l/t. i have a feeling she wanted only s/t that night so might have got a lower number for l/t on a different night.

the good news is these price points being quoted may represent the peak of the go go days (pun intended !!!) given the current and possible future political turmoil. i look forward to some reports in Q2 09 updating all of us with some downward adjustments in the opening quotes from the girls.

Baccara is doing good business in my eyes. The place was full on both floors. Many dancers on the first floor and many drink girls dancing topless and panty-less up stairs on the glass floor. Huge Asian customer base here now. Cowboy is on the up and up these days.

i went to night and i liked it. i just had a couple of drinks there. a lot of dancers and some of them are good looking.

Packed with girls packed with customers. Smoking allowed upstairs only. This is the best bar on Cowboy at the moment. Tons of dancers downstairs and many spinner types upstairs dancing in server outfits, on the glass floor, and they left there thongs at home.

Can a monger expect to pay exactly the same prices on Soi Cowboy versus Nana Plaza these days?

Mostly, with exceptions. Baccara has a minimum lady drink policy before you can barfine her - 2 drinks required. Which is bullshit, and the reason why I stopped going there years ago. There are 6 bars on Cowboy where the barfine is 700 baht: Midnite, Deja Vu, Suzie Wong, Rio... can't remember the others at the moment.
