DTR is quite a polemic figure here. He has pissed a good number of us off more than once with his POSTS, but has been a GREAT host to those who have mentioned the board and asked his indulgence in BKK. He's a shining example of the real world being more important than the internet: I'd bet a free beer and a nice word from DTR would help MOST of us here more than 200 hours or reading and blathering on about something HE knows 100x more about.

Hi Murasaki, there is an explaination, the photo was taken at the Angelwitch Halloween Party.

At leased we know what Dave's agenda is. I have visited with Dave at AW a number of times over the last few years and have always found him to be a true gent. He has a Club to run and that means sometime he can't sit around and chat, anyone who has run a business should understand that. As for Monty1412 and Redbus everyone is intitled to their opinion but please don't miss represent the facts " dave has suddenly ignored clubhombre members" is blatantly untrue.

Monty, I was the main author of the criticisms of Dave. I wrote them for two reasons. First because I've had three experiences at Angelwitch in BKK and they were basically a waste of my time, before I moved on to other bars. I've also had many experiences with Angelwitch Pattaya and they amounted to my reaching the conclusion that it's a clip joint that I really want nothing to do with.

My even larger reason was that Dave is one of or maybe the only commercial poster on the Asia board. I've been on Hombre a long time and I can't help but to notice that Hombre isn't quite what it used to be. There are little things like that Hombre hasn't had the time or money to post Hombre awards for a long time. Also there is just a smaller number of new contributors, pictures and trip reports, than there once was. My hope therefore was that I could shame Dave into doing something to help Hombre. I felt that this would benefit the whole community and especially the Asia board.

Considering that at the end Dave gave some free Ad time to Hombre I felt that I succeeded. I knew when I wrote my posts that Dave has many friends and that many of them I feel are my friends. I also knew that I would catch some heat and criticism for what I did. On the other hand I felt that the good I could create might outweigh that for me.

Perhaps I should also have written a post asking what it would take to awaken enough interest in this board to get some of the things that the board used to have, like getting Hombre to do regular Hombre awards. It's not the monetary gain for a winner, but rather it would encourage more posts of pictures and trip reports. I think that the pictures and trip reports are the heart of having a better and more diverse population of posters on the board and would improve the board for everyone.

While I do completely agree with you, many of the posters who went to Dave's defense I consider friends and I guess that they did what they did because they consider Dave a friend. I don't want to fight or argue with them, and I think that It's likely best for everyone involved to let the topic of whether Dave is a good or bad guy end. His friends will always be his friends and that's that.

The topic I'd rather spend time with is what would it take for the active posters on this board to do to get Hombre more involved and make the board more like it was in it's heyday. I'd like to do it in a constructive way as I enjoy the board and only would like to help it. I hope that Hombre reads my post and in a constructive way would tell us what might be done to help, including, but also beyond just donation of cash.

Gurock, it may help you to know that Dave has absolutely zero to do with Angelwitch Pattaya. From what I understand, that bar is managed completely separate from the Bangkok branch. They are in essence two different bars that happen to have the same name.

I might also suggest that you inbox Hombre directly with your concerns and ideas.

Alot of clever words and slander but get to the point. You walk in ,talk to dave ,get a drink, check the lineup or watch the shows. I don't care if Dave advertised on the internet,or put an ad in the newspaper or bought a house in Bermuda. He still has a wealth of knowledge and is fun to talk to.

=the only complaint that I see from you is that you walked into AW Nana and had a bad time. There are dozens of other guys who have walked in AW Nana and enjoyed themselves.

Hombre is not what it use to be because there are so many free sites out there with current info. If more of the guys would update bars and constantly do excellent trip reviews we may have people flocking to the sight. Especially with the Asian side we have to keep these updates current. This sight has a vast knowledge but some of it is getting old.

Hi Guys, tell me if I am wrong, but I thought this was the Angelwitch Bangkok thred?! Therefore, it's not supposed to be a 'Dave The Rave' thred. Nevertheless, I'm blushing with all this attention!

To clarify once again, I run Angelwitch in Nana Plaza and have zero involvement with the management of the Pattaya branch of Angelwitch. However, I have contributed ideas, including show concepts. FYI, Murasaki is spot on, because Pattaya Angelwitch has an entirely separate management team. Pattaya Angelwitch management are all Thais and therefore, it is managed the Thai way. In the Bangkok branch of Angelwitch, there is almost always a farang Boss on duty. It is either myself and/or Matt, who is the co-owner. We take care of the customers on a nightly basis. My suggestion is to meet us in person before you judge us.

My policy on Club Hombre nowadays is to endeavour to supply accurate information and post images from time to time. I neither have the time, nor the inclination to get into virtual handbag fights. As grown adults we should have much more constructive things to do with our time. Enough said!

ANGELWITCH OPERATING HOURS - 7:30pm until at least 2:00am nightly. Showtime is 10:15pm-1:15am.

Comment: the fact that Dave works in a bar again has little relevancy unless one is making the point that he has tremendous insight to share.

Yes, Hombre isn't what it used to be in terms of pics, volume, interaction. IMHO because the people who did most of the writing at the time got tired of the petty BS from people who did nothing else (e.g., Monty). Well that combined with the fact that there needs to be new blood stepping up to the plate in terms of writing as folks can only write so many reports if they repeat destinations.

I for one seen MUCH more value in Dave's 1478 discuss, 733 chats, and 300+ pictures rather than the banner (while it is a great gesture). If someone is truly interested in making the board more interesting, it would be to foster/encourage sharing and camaraderie by all.

Dave: Wun doesn't do it for me, can't you muster up anyone better to wet my appetite? You know my type.

Guys, I think Don Marco makes some good points here. He has stepped in as the voice of reason. I dare say some guys are not willing to post on this board, because they have their info and/or photos trashed by others. Usually those that do the trolling, contribute the least amount of useful information. Well said Don Marco!

Walked in with a few guys and had a chat with Dave the other night. Angelwitch didn't have the quantity of girls that I remember. They did have a few hotties in the area though. I think I fell in love with a beautiful spinner showgirl............. We arrived just before the shows started to get a good look at the dancers. We stayed for a few shows , which are always entertaining, and made our way out.
Dave warned us about one girl that one of my crew was with and recommended another dancer that was sharing a drink with another buddy.

Your reports are always accurate and objective. FYI, you will find that a lot of Bangkok go-go bars are down on both girls and customers. In Angelwitch the Showgirl line-up has strengthened, but the go-go dancer line-up has weakened.

I hadn't seen Dave the Rave in more than 4 years, but when I walked in to Angel Witch in July, he instantly remembered both my name and all of my CH friends and their varying mongering exploits. The man's a fantastic host. Say hi and mention this site, and he will love you long time!

All that being said, they had like 5 girls working at 1 AM on a weeknight in July? How they were outnumbered by at least 4-1 by customers apparently happy to pay 4 USD for a beer (highest prices I saw in Thailand in a go go) is probably further testament to DTR's charisma.

Angelwitch Show Bar is still going strong and I recently had the pleasure of meeting Murasaki in Nana Plaza. I had a brief walk around Nana Plaza with Murasaki and both of us were not overly impressed with the go-go girls in general. I would say the best line-up in Nana Plaza is in Mandarin but Angelwitch is certainly holding its own.

Shows usually starting after 10pm and always draws a crowd. They have a few very hot showgirls. Get there before 10 for a good look at the dancer line up. I have visited AW quite a few times the last week and I am impressed with the talent. One girl I BF'd 4 times a rare thing for me. She was a little professional but made sure I was absolutely satisfied and happy.

I am also getting quoted 4000 LT more and more these days which I won't pay. I usually can haggle down easy enough.

AW is worth a look early at the dancer line up and after 10 they have nice shows as usual.
