Key Largo (Avenida 3 Calle 7) *** Rates: $40-$100

The place that made the San Jose sex scene world-famous in the 70's, Key Largo is worth a visit for its history and character. It was the home of a sea captain in Costa Rica's early days, and now is decorated with old movie posters and stills from The Maltese Falcon, African Queen and other Bogart films -- definitely a damn manly place to smoke a Havana, sip rum and look for hookers. Or wait for a hooker to find you, which won't take long. Girls here are very aggressive. At times it is like being in a shark tank. The girls will dance with you, sit in your lap, and get you worked up. Some attractive girls work here, and it's definitely worth a look on weekends when they have live music. Cover charge is ¢500, and you don't get a drink for your ticket as in some places -- drinks are also pricey. If alone, be sure to get a receipt when you pay for your drinks.

So what is the scoop on Key Largo now that it is under the same ownership as the Del Rey? I would guess that the quality of the girls should improve in Key Largo.

Things are certainly changing! At the moment, there's a lot of remodeling and re-construction going on and I haven't spoken with the managers so I'm not sure what the final plans will be, but there's no question that they're making a major commitment and spending major bucks on the place. I was there last night with friends. We arrived about 9pm, during the middle of the Costa Rica-Colombia futbol (soccer) match, not the best time to check things out since everyone in Costa Rica was watching the game. There were probably 20-25 girls there and 10-15 guys. The majority of the girls and a few of the guys were watching the game. Average quality of the girls was pretty low, but there were a few decent-looking ones. Average 5-6's, a few 7's, several 2-3's. No 8's or above, mostly Dominicanas and Colombianas. Later, the game ended, the band started playing, people begain dancing, and slowly more people begain to filter in, including a few more attractive girls. However, all in all, an off-night everywhere, due to the game - Blue Marlin was slow as well, but better than KL.

My friends had just arrived earlier in the afternoon and were pretty tired from their travel (as well as earlier activities)and really weren't interested in anything other than checking the place out for weekend visits. So, after an hour or so, we moved on to IDEM. Some very nice talent there as always, and Roberto was his usual gracious self. Despite their fatigue and professed lack of interest in further mongering activities for the evening, a couple of the guys couldn't resist and picked out some of the better talent for a "test spin". Yes, spinners - don't you love them!

We left them there and went across the street to EROS for a minute to see what was going on. There were a lot of girls working , 10 or more - not bad, but nothing really special. For the money, IDEM is usually a better choice but variety is the spice of life. We had talked about checking out some of the Tico places - Molino Rojo, etc., but consensus was to call it a night and head back to the hotel.

I was also at key largo and del rey thursday night May 9 during the soccer game. This was my first night down so I didn't have much point of reference. Yes there were a lot of dominicans, but they were very young ones, and though not 9s or 10s, they represent the best value for all nighters. They live 6 or 8 in a shitty apartment, so they don't have any incentive not to stay in your hotel. if they have kids, they are on the island, so you won't get the " I must go , my baby is sick" at 3 in the morning. They're english is poor so they can't compete with the lighter skined charmers at del rey. And lastly they give it 101 per cent to try to convince you to hang with them for multiple days.
Enough on that subject, the point I want to make is that although you point out it was slow for
thursday, it got slower late friday and saturday after the police hauled 55 dominicanas and colubianas out of del rey and deported at least 15, mostly columbianas. Word is the ticas don't like the competition.

Did you notice how empty it was saturday?

I'd say the hotties still hang at BM, but there are quite a few chicas at Del Rey (May 10-11).

The live band was way too loud for me, in fact I had to ask the one cutie I found to step outside just to discuss prices. She was the only one who would not negotiate down from 100, and in fact she was only one of two to start that high, and I tend to look for lookers. Needless to say, I passed. OTOH, the one I hooked up with turned out to be one of the worst experiences ever.....

Key Largo is a hell of a lot of fun. The women may not be tens but they all love to dance and I feel they come here to party more and be more down to earth, than the some of the pros at the BM. Your chances of getting a GFE is more probable, than at the BM. My last two trips in March and May have been fantastic as far as complete satisfaction with the 6-9 range ticas hanging around the KL and even the Morazon when they take a break from the BM/KL routine. many mongers who go to Costa Rica immeadiatly learn of the Blue Marlin Bar in the del Rey Hotel. They may not however know of a treasure across the street known as the Key Largo.
My first visit to Costa Rica was almost 20 years ago, and the key Largo was operating then, with a high class clientel and a small casino. In later trips, it changed a bit. For a while it was the sole hangout of the chiquitas from Cuba. There were quite a few, and they were quite passionate, as well as being a bit less expensive than the Blue Marlin girsls.
Now, as of my last visit in Feb '03, the Key Largo has become an adjunct to the Blue Marlin, and a place where the Ticas choose to congregate.
One thing many men may miss is that the girls tend to stay together by country of origen. The Columbianas with themselves, Dominicanas, and so on. I found that the young Ticas tend to stay across the street at the KL.
My favorite girl over there is known as Eimy. For me at least, she is the prettiest of the lot. I first met her two years ago when she was working the PArk hotel, for considerably less money. Kick me for this, but after enjoying her services for a month I told he she bleonged at the Del Rey. She is now orking the DR/KL sites and asking the now normal $100 a throw. She truly is worth it. She makes love, not just fuck. She has perfect long legs, nice hand sized tits with long nipples, and soft lips. She has a little friend known as La Flaca (for obvious resons) who will join you with Eimy if you ask. The two of them can truly sweat up the sheets.
I have mentioned the Park hotel here. I still go there from time to time. The occaisional beautiful woman (ask for Carolina!) and the Friday, Saturday nite "show" is the most decadent thing I have ever seen!! Any cabbie knows where any of these places are, so GO!

Directly across the street from the Blue Marlin, this gets the overflow of ladies, and any guys that are looking for a different ring in the circus. It does have a live band and dancing, loud, but a much smaller crowd than the BM. It appears the 9's and 10's stick to the BM, except to go over to the restaurant adjacent to KL for dinner, either as a "date" or with the girls.

KL bar open nights, live band music sounds loud because band area/dance floor is small. Restaurant, pool table, 2 computer rooms with internet. Next door is Del Mar restaurant, open 24 hrs.

I think if you dont like prices the girls quote you in DEL REY, then just mover over into KEY LARGO... I think most girls here are more willing to negotiate on a easier scale then DR.

For example, here's a girl I met at the New York Bar, half a block south of Del Rey, named Nany (say it Nah-nee), who also works at Key Largo.

She's about 4'10" and, as you can see, really hot, no English. Not cheap -- I should clarify that the she does speak and understand English numbers, and I've seen her scoff, scoff at an offer of $40 as if she'd been insulted. And I can't divulge her age, but she is way, way older than she looks (I've seen her cedula and was nearly stabbed for looking at it). Wonderful girl, great time, hardly drinks, no drugs, treats you right.
