Actually, this kind of research has been done many times before. I'm surprised that, in this day and age, any Professor would sponser such a project. Even the AIDS angle is completely worn out - this is probably why the change in subject was necessary. My girlfriend had attempted a similar feat at the University of Sonora, and had it shot down for unoriginality. She ended up doing a study on Mexican Faith healers vs. Modern Medicine.
