I looked through some materials on the web trying to find an authoritative answer to a question that's been debated on this board...whether prostitution in the zona is "legal" or merely "tolerated". And no, I haven't found the answer because of my limited Spanish. I did find one criminal statute of the state of Baja California that appears to lay out criminal penalties for corruption of minors (under 18) - including turning them towards prostitution, and perhaps pimping. I'm curious as to precisely what it says. The statute is set forth below in it's full Spanish text. Any of you fluent in Spanish care to take a shot at a translation? ARTICULO 261. TIPO Y PUNIBILIDAD. AL QUE PROCURE O CUANDO LOS ACTOS DE CORRUPCION SE REALICEN SI ADEMAS DE LOS DELITOS PREVISTOS EN ESTE CAPITULO RESULTASE COMETIDO OTRO, SE APLICARAN LAS REGLAS DE LA ACUMULACION.
