I had these problems until I got a passport. Neutralizing these dickheads was my prime motivation for getting a passport. It costs $60 (less than the price of one session!) and you should be able to get the forms at many post offices. It's not as painful as it seems. Now, I just get waived through, or asked what I'm bringing back (pleasant memories). It's a good idea to have a passport anyway.
