Chapter 01: Foxy's, Baby Dolls, Venecia Hotel

Coming in was as expected; $10 tourist card, quick trip through immigration and customs, $40 taxi to Gazcue. I headed straight for the Mystik Hotel (CH Link) on Pasteur for a $50 US per night single. I have one note on that. I had a little trouble communicating where I wanted to go since the cab drivers were unfamiliar with the hotel. I said it was on "Pasteur", pronouncing it like "PASS-tour", but they didn't understand. They eventually got it, but the way they said it, it sounded much more like "pass-TELL".

I had read about quite a few changes in Santo Domingo, so I confirmed what I could.

Playboy Palace (CH Link), which seemed to be gaining popularity as an up-and-comer prior to my last trip, was hardly getting mentioned now. The downward spiral of talent seemed to get worse from what little I could find. I walked by on my first day to see some rocks piled up in front of the door. I assumed that meant it was closed. Since Bar 362 was just a few doors down across the street, I walked by there as well. I didn't knock on the door, but it appeared closed. Per my last Santo Domingo report, Bar 362 was the place one of the cab drivers promised was very good.

El Conde, the main pedestrian walkway in the old part of town, was mostly the same. I noticed a new shawarma place near west end of El Conde. I was tempted, but chose Pizza Hut instead. I was craving tomato sauch but ordered Primavera de Camarones instead, a pasta dish with shrimp. That was a mistake. It was OK, but the shimp was too salty.

I walked by Bar 360 (CH Link) to confirm it was closed. It was. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did given the location.

I walked south to George Washington and got to Foxy's Gentlemen's Club (CH Link) a little after 8pm. The bar was open, but the ladies were missing. I was told they were getting ready and would be coming out at 8:30pm. I left for The Baby Dolls and didn't make it back. I intended to at first, but decided Foxy's simply didn't provide the level of talent to justify the high price premium. I didn't make it back to the Dollhouse Gentlemen's Club this trip for the same reason.

The Baby Dolls (CH Link) looked strange when I walked in. It turned out the entire bottom floor was under construction and everyone was upstairs. They did a good job of making the upstairs look like the downstairs. I tood a seat and soon had the crowd of ladies around me. There were 8 of them. All of them were at least cute, although one was a little heavy. Lauren wasn't there at first, but she appeared shortly after. I recognized Brenda, a lady I picked out from Satin Dolls, in the lineup. She was the best out of the bunch. Second place was a petite, brown-skinned beauty. I had one beer here and left, making a mental note of a potential return for second place.

I made the hike down to Copa Discoteque to confirm they changed the name to Pure Disco Club (CH Link). Freelance action doesn't normally start until 1am at the earliest. I never made it back.

I walked up the street and confirmed La Parada Night Club (CH Link) was permanently closed. I didn't take a close look, but from across the street the building looked long deserted, and with the sign missing, there seemed to be no evidence that there used to be a sex club there.

I then walked by Lapsus (CH Link), or what used to be Lapsus. Someone did a much thorough job of eliminating the evidence here. The building was almost completely gone. All that was left was a tiny piece of the ramp that led up to the entrance.

After a short nap back at Mystic, I walked past Sky High to the new Venecia Hotel (CH Link) on Pasteur. This place is supposedly owned by the same guy that owned Lapsus, and there was a second sign that said "Lapsus here".

There wasn't anything particular different to really distinguish Venecia from the other 3 brothels nearby, or 4 if you include Club 305, but out of the 3 (or 4) I would say Venecia was probably the best in terms of lineup.

A black amazon named Eva was really aggressive in trying to seduce me here. I liked her curves and attitude, but her face reminded me of a female version of Wesley Snipes, so I never took the bait. Instead, I chose a very sexy spinner named Leslie from Santiago. Leslie had a small, skinny body with lots of tattoos. She was a little trashy looking, but she moved in a very sexy manner and knew how to seduce well. Her main drawback was that she smelled like smoke, but she was so seductive that it was easy to overlook that.

That was it for my first day. With the closures elsewhere and opening of Venecia on Pasteur, I suspected most of my time there would be spent very close to my hotel.
