1st time posting. Hope I did this right. ------------------ I arrived at San Diego airport Sunday May 6 at 6pm and picked up a Cavalier rental car. I am glad I get this shitty car because no one would break into it. Going along I-5, I exited at the “Last USA Exit and Parking”. Just go straight and the road ends at a turnaround with a Duty Free building close by. I parked at the Duty Free building at $7 per day. BTW, the Duty Free shop has a nice bathroom. Essentially, I followed the crowd and the Mexican border checking is a joke. The Mexican official didn’t even look at me. Once I reach the exit, I can see a bunch of yellow taxi and the drivers were harassing me for a ride. I ignored them, turn right and pick a white/blue taxi. The cost is $5 to La Villa de Zaragoza hotel. The ride is only 5 minutes long. The hotel lost my internet reservation but they have rooms available. The reception is friendly and speaks good English. Cost is $44 + $5 for key deposit. The room is nothing to write home about (2 star) but reasonably clean. I freshen up and left around 7:45pm. I split up my $ into different batches. I have about 20* $1 bill in my left pants pocket, about 6*$5 bill in my right pants pocket, $50 in my wallet and $50 in my neck purse. I hide more $ and passport in the hotel. My plan is to hit a few strip bars first, have dinner and go to Zona Norte. The hotel is a 2 minutes walk to Revolucion and I stroll along. First bar I hit is Madonna. It was a slow night with less than 10 customers and maybe 5 dancers. The dancers are reasonably attractive. I was getting bored and left after 30 minutes. I decided to have no alcohol this trip for safety reason. Coke is $4+$1 tip. I don’t think dances can get too nasty at this bar because the lap dance booth simply has a see-through veil covering it. Next bar I hit is Rio Rita 69 because other moguls has commented about the nasty level at this bar. The place is pretty scary since the bar is 2 stories down and we have to walk through some defunct stores. I asked for the bathroom and the tout lead me to some corridor at the back of the bar. I thought he is trying to find a place to mug me. Got a bit pissed off when I see the bathroom attendant. I decided not to wash my hand and just walk out. I heard the attendant yelling tip, tip after me. The bar didn’t have coke and I got a beer. The tout actually double duty as a waiter and serve my first drink at $4+$1 tip. After about 15 minutes, I saw an actual menu in the bar area and beer is only $3. Oh, well. The bar has continuous show (topless, no nude) and there are about 5 dancers. The girls are attractive but I wasn’t really interested. It was about 9pm and I was getting hungry. I walked up and down Revolucion and eventually went to this place called Sanbourns taco or something (near 4th) because the place is full. Unfortunately, the food is quite disappointing. I can get better Mexican food at home. I passed by this restaurant a couple of times on Monday and it’s pretty full. Why the hell is it full? Next stop is zona Note. I looked at the map and Adelitas is only 10 minutes walk away. Should I take a taxi for a 1 minute ride? I look along Revolucion toward Zona Norte and saw few pedestrians. Okay, I will take a taxi. The taxi driver wanted $6 because Adelitas is in a dangerous area, he claimed. I bargained the fare down to $4 (still fucking expensive). A 6-8 years old kid opened the taxi door for us and expected a tip. What the hell? It’s 11pm and the kid should be in bed. The area near Adelitas is really well lit but I didn’t linger in the street too long before entering the bar. Wow, a very interesting place. Even on a Sunday night, the place is packed. There are lots of girls but there are a lot more guys. I took a walk around the bar and check out the chicks. A few attractive ones but quite a few buffalos also. I sit down at the bar on the left side of the entrance. I spent about an hour observing the scene. There were a couple of girls I am interested in. One wears glasses and is about 5’3” 115 lbs. She wears a sparkling green long dress. Other board member might know her. All of a sudden, miss glasses moved right behind me next to a pole. I smiled at her and asked her name (forgot what it is, shame on me). BTW, did I mention that I don’t know a word of Spanish? After a 30 seconds conversation, miss glasses moved back to the pole. Well, she doesn’t seem too interested. I brought out my Palm Pilot to find some Spanish words to say. All of a sudden, a girl hugged me from behind. By that time, I am getting pretty tired and asked her about going to my hotel. I know, I know, I don’t even know if she is a good fuck and she is really the first hooker I talked to in TJ. Cost is $300 all night. Wow, I can fly to Thailand if I spend 3 nights with her. During the price negotiation, she kept on French kissing me and I know I can’t escape. We eventually settle for $200 for 3 hours. Maybe you guys can tell me what is a reasonable price for 3 hours in my hotel. The time is about 12:30am and she went and get her jacket. I have to pay $10 barfine to a bouncer. She started to walk towards the hotel and I stopped her. Is it safe to walk, I asked her. She nodded her head and indicated 2 people is okay. No fucking way. I will take the $5 hit. We spent 5 minutes arguing with the taxi drivers before someone is willing to take us for $5. These taxi drivers are getting on my nerve. She was not too impressed with the hotel and said Hotel Leyva is a better value at twenty something dollars. She starts to strip and we took a shower together. I felt very safe (turn at 1st and revolucion left, walk north along constitucion). There are lots of kids, family walking in the area. Did people really get mugged during the daytime? I am wearing a waist belt and am a obvious tourist. Anyways, I have a good look at the SG and the selection is not bad. There are less Euro looking woman but the selection is no worse than Adelitas in my own opinion. Time is about 2pm Monday and I walk into Chicago Club. There are 3 girls and NO customer. I left immediately and went to Adelitas. I repeat the adelitas and SG tour a few times before settling on a SG named Melian ?. She is 5’2” and very slim. She charges $20 for sucky and fucky and $4 for hotel. Yes, the hotel is pretty bad. I paid her $5 extra for BBBJ and she did an okay job. I was pretty disappointed with the strip club scene. I lived in Toronto, Canada in the 80’s when lap dancing is allowed and the scene was much wilder. I have budget $100 for lap dance and wound up spending nothing. Again, this is Sunday early evening and the scene might be different some other day. The SG quality is better than I thought. The only turnoff is the hotel and the rush attitude. Will I go back? Yes, but only if I am in the South Calif area for business. I wouldn’t fly to San Diego just to visit TJ.
