I stopped going to the Copacabana termas years ago because of the price difference from downtown, but unfortunately, 4x4 is headed the same way. A 40 minute session there now costs $R200. Also, if you don't do a girl there, the entrance fee is now $R50 instead of R$40. If you do one, it's still $R40 (after 5pm of course). I can't see how the constant price increases aren't going to hurt their business.

It's out of control. When you factor in airfare, hotel/apt costs, and income lost because you are not working if you are self-employed, it's much more than the USA prices for poon.

I get it that the termas don't specifically exist for Americans, but the Copa termas (at least MC and L'uomo) those are the demographics of guys who drink AND take girls to the room. No other group, even Italians, are better customers. Almost all girls would say when they saw an American, it was a good 80% or more chance he was taking a girl to the room.

Even 4x4, yes it is 200R. But, most guys aren't taking the metro back. Also, when you see the difference between 40min/1hr most guys go with the 1-hour option. So, 220R + 40R entrada + 25 taxi. That is 285R, so really not all much different. I also tend to buy more alcohol in 4x4 since it is more a party atmosphere, so probably works out to be the same or more.

Basically, no matter what termas I would go to it was really hard to not spend at least 350R...which is basically $200. Just my opinion, but spending that much to fuck some average looking rural-area Brasiliera for 40 mins. is crazy.

Cinco, I think you and I are on the same page. The termas don't exist for foreigners, and we can sound a little whiny at times, but my thing is always...... damn, if it is expensive to me, how in the fuck can all of these Brazilian guys afford it. The answer to that I suppose is that the local guys we see in there only go in once a month maybe, not 5 or 6 times a week like we do.

And the local guys aren't shelling out $1000 on airfare and $90/night on an apartment. Just imagine how much fun you'd have without those expenses...

My understanding is many of the younger Brasilieros you may see at 4x4 work for the police and they get their entrada fee waived too. They buy 2 beers and play grab-ass for the evening.
If they had just extorted someone or got a good bribe, maybe they might take a girl up to the room.

According to the manager (Tino), the reason they raised the entrada for those not sessioning was to discourage the boys who come in just to play grab-ass. I think it's pretty unusual for the entrada to be waived. Tino has to personally sign the bill each time an entrada gets waived, and I've only seen that happen a few times.

Most of the young brasileiras I've chatted with work at offices in Centro. They seemed pretty pissed about the increase in the entrada.

MC will now be closed Sundays beginning in August.

This won't change things for Solarium and L'Uomo. Until a few years ago, Monte Carlo was closed on Sundays, while Solarium and L'Uomo were open.

I guess the thought process, that which it is for cariocas, is that instead of splitting the talent in half on the weekends, just close up one day and have a full team there Monday-Saturday. That sounds good in theory, Centaurus has always operated that way.

Although I haven't 'set foot' outside the States for about 2 years, that does not invalidate anything I have posted here. When I go back to Rio, Help & TA aside, it will be just like it was yesterday, excepting the prices/exchange rate.
As for other locations, same holds true and I'm sure most here would agree. Same shit, different day. Keep in mind some people need what my absence provides! When I was in MC a few weeks ago, it was disappointingly weak. During my prior trip MC had the best talent in town. Three weeks ago it had among the weakest talent. Newbies, take note. That's the way it is with termas in Rio. Reviews older than a month or so are of little use, since the talent is very fluid and mobile. The only way to gauge the talent of a termas is to walk in and take a look.

I did pull a couple of good programs from MC, and had a good time with those two girls, but they weren't as good as the programs I had at L or 4X4 (I don't recall either of their names), and the vibe in the boite was pretty dead, and way off the party atmosphere at the other termas.

BD is right, you never know about the talent in a terma until you walk in, I think the the talent can change by the day

I have always seemed to find something I like in MC. L'uomo is a more festive atmosphere, it seems the girls dance more then MC, and at least you get to see them move, whereas a lot of the girls in MC just sit around in groups playing with their lip gloss. In the end, it is about if you found one that you hit it off with in the room. Quite a few times I have found it weak and I happened to stumble upon a garota who rocked, so it was great.

At the end of May I rated MC as below average, but had good time with a couple of girls there. I can usually find someone I like enough to try at most of the top-tier termas. AZGuy gave me a good rec on my last day (can't recall the name) and it was a nice dessert before heading home.

I visited MC on Saturday night. I probably got there about 9 or so. Excellent locker room lady still there. Club was not too crowded but it was quickly obvious that this was going to be better than my 4x4 and Cancun visits. Several girls met my criteria and all attitudes were excellent. Finally settled on a thin blonde. She was great in the sack but I would probably not repeat. I do think that everyone had dresses on although I did not really notice until just now. There were at least two others who I would hit for sure. If they were still open on Sundays, I would have. Final bill was exactly $400R. Girl portion was $200R. A little trip down memory lane today. Paid a visit to MC. Lost all of the Quasi Gentleman club essence of the time gone by. Looks like the "Crips or the Bloods" have taken over. It's now run by the shifty, wall eyed looking favalados with altitude that you see in everywhere.
Probably my mind was playing tricks on me, but the sofas in the bar looked like they had some of the same snale trails on them form all those years ago.
