I saw this movie last week and really enjoyed it. Really entertaining story and incredible music and cinematography. The west Texas flatlands were supposed to be the ranch country near San Angelo - a place I've driven though and is nowhere near as attractive as what was filmed. The spot they cross the Rio Grande - most photogenic moment in the film when Cruz isn't on camera - had to be in the Big Bend country.

This was also one of the best novels of the 90's - first of a trilogy that has now been completed.

Funny how the wealthy Mexican father and daughter were played by the oh-so Spanish Spanish Cruz, and the Puerto Rican Ruben Blades. So the actor's ethnicities were as faux as the locations.
